Jack Dorsey vibe coded another app, and this one tracks your Vitamin D
Jack Dorsey
just released his second app in a week, and this time it's all about soaking up the sun safely. The new iOS app called Sun Day helps users track their UV exposure and estimate vitamin D levels based on location, skin type, and how much clothing they're wearing.
The app works by using your phone's location to pull up the local UV index, then lets you manually toggle when you're stepping in and out of sunlight. Tell it your skin type from six options, mention whether you're rocking shorts and a t-shirt or bundled up, and Sun Day calculates how much vitamin D you're getting and how long you can stay outside before risking a burn.
This follows last weekend's release of Bitchat, Dorsey's encrypted peer-to-peer messaging app that works over Bluetooth without needing internet. Both apps are part of what he calls his "learning" process through weekend coding projects, and he's building them using an open-source
AI coding tool
called
Goose
, which is developed by Dorsey's
Block
.
The app keeps things simple. You tap a button when you go outside, tap it again when you head back in, and it gives you a rough estimate of your vitamin D gains for that session and the whole day. It also shows useful info like sunrise and sunset times, cloud cover, and your personal burn limit based on the UV index.

Sun Day is currently available through Apple's TestFlight beta program, with the full source code posted on GitHub for anyone who wants to dig in. There's no word yet on when it might hit the regular App Store or if an Android version is planned. But seeing how quick
Dorsey
shipped out Bitchat for Android, he might possibly be already working on it.
For someone who sold Twitter and stepped back from the spotlight, Dorsey seems to be having fun with these quick-turnaround projects.

Is RIL's strong profit growth sustainable amid rising capital expenditure?
ET Intelligence Group: Reliance Industries delivered a strong performance at the operating profit level for the June quarter driven by oil marketing, retail and digital services segments. Excluding the effect of one-time gain from the sale of investment in Asian Paints, the company reported 15% and 25% year-on-year growth in operating profit before depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) and net profit for the quarter. A strong profit growth helped in retaining the net debt-Ebitda level at around 0.6, similar to that at the end of FY25 despite a capital expenditure of ₹29,875 crore for the quarter, up 4% year-on-year. Given this, the country's largest company by revenue and market capitalisation appears to be well placed to grow across the business segments. In the Oil-to-Chemicals (O2C) business, which has the largest share of 56.7% in RIL's consolidated top line, the Ebitda performance was impressive despite a muted 1.5% increase in top line. The Ebitda growth of 10.8% was driven by improved realisation for transportation fuels and higher volume growth of 34.2% in diesel and 38.6% in petrol year-on-year. The 5G user base crossed 210 million in the June quarter from 191 million at the end of March 2025. The ARPU improvement continued with the latest tally ₹208.8 from ₹206.2 in the prior quarter and ₹181.7 a year ago. Also, the sequential pace of customer addition at 9.9 million increased from 6.1 million in the previous quarter. As a result, the Jio Platform's revenue grew by 19% year-on-year to ₹35,032 crore while Ebitda rose by 24% to ₹18,135 crore. Agencies In the retail segment, which forms over 26% of the consolidated revenue, the store count increased by 388 to 19,592 in the June quarter. Net revenue grew by 11.3% year-on-year to ₹73,720 crore led by market leadership in grocery and fashion, despite temporary monsoon-related softness in electronics. The overall consolidated revenue grew by 6% to ₹2.7 lakh crore year-on-year while net profit including the investment gain rose by 76.5% to ₹30,783 crore. Under its new energy initiative, it has started the execution of power generation projects in Kutch and it is in the process of setting up a transmission line to Jamnagar, Gujarat. This will aid the company's green chemicals business. Live Events Motilal Oswal expects consolidated Ebitda and net profit to grow by 11% annually between FY25 and FY28. It has reiterated "buy" on the stock, marginally raising the target price to ₹1,700 from 1,685. The stock was last traded at ₹1,476.9 on Friday on the BSE.

Japan election results: Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to be removed soon? Question rises after ruling coalition loses Sunday's vote
Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba's future was unclear Monday after his coalition appeared to have disastrously lost its upper house majority in elections that saw strong gains by a right-wing populist party. The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), which has governed almost continuously since 1955, and its partner Komeito had to win 50 seats in Sunday's vote but they secured only around 41, according to local media projections. Voters angry at inflation turned to other parties, notably the "Japanese first" Sanseito, which made strong gains with its "anti-globalist" drive reminiscent of US President Donald Trump's agenda. "It's a difficult situation, and we have to take it very humbly and seriously," Ishiba told broadcaster NHK. Asked about his future, he said only that he "cannot speak lightly of it". Live Events "We can't do anything until we see the final results, but we want to be very aware of our responsibility," Ishiba added. If he goes, it was unclear who might step up as the LDP's 11th premier since 2000 now that the government needs opposition support in both chambers. "Ishiba may be replaced by someone else, but it's not clear who will be the successor," Hidehiro Yamamoto, politics and sociology professor at the University of Tsukuba, told AFP. After years of stagnant or falling prices, consumers in the world's fourth-largest economy have been squeezed by inflation since Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine. In particular, the price of rice has doubled, squeezing many household budgets despite government handouts. Not helping is lingering resentment about an LDP funding scandal, and US tariffs of 25 percent due to bite from August 1 if there is no trade deal with the United States. Japanese imports are already subject to a 10 percent tariff, while the auto industry, which accounts for eight percent of jobs, is reeling from a 25 percent levy. Weak export data last week, which showed plummeting US-bound auto deliveries, stoked fears that Japan could tip into a technical recession. Despite Ishiba securing an early meeting with Trump in February, and sending his trade envoy to Washington seven times, there has been no accord. The last time the LDP and Komeito failed to win a majority in the upper house was in 2010, having already fallen below the threshold in 2007. That was followed by a rare change of government in 2009, when the now-defunct Democratic Party of Japan governed for a rocky three years. Today, the opposition is fragmented, and chances are slim that the parties can form an alternative government. Populist opposition party Sanseito wants "stricter rules and limits" on immigration, opposes "globalism" and "radical" gender policies, and wants a rethink on decarbonisation and vaccines. Last week, it was forced to deny any links to Moscow -- which has backed populist parties elsewhere -- after a candidate was interviewed by Russian state media.

mart signals in place, NMC begins installing AI-powered speed radars
1 2 3 Nagpur: With the first phase of the Rs197 crore Integrated Intelligent Traffic Management System (IITMS) project underway, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), through implementing agency Keltron, has now begun deploying AI-powered speed radar systems on the city's major roads. This comes after Keltron completed integration of IITMS at 10 of the 171 identified traffic junctions in the city. The pilot installation of the speed radar system was completed on the busy Omkar Nagar Square–Manewada Square stretch. Equipped with radar sensors, ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) cameras, and high-intensity strobe flash units, the system is capable of detecting over speeding vehicles in real-time, capturing licence plates, and instantly transmitting data to the city's traffic control command centre. "The radar system was successfully calibrated and integrated. Once a vehicle exceeds the speed limit, the system triggers the camera to capture high-resolution images of the number plate, even at night," said a senior Keltron official. The AI-powered enforcement system is a major upgrade under the IITMS project, which aims to modernise traffic management, improve road safety, and bring down accident rates in the city. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The radar unit on the Omkar Nagar–Manewada stretch is the first of many planned across 32 major roads, where traffic volume and speeding are key concerns. At some junctions or routes, multiple radar units will be installed to cover both sides of the carriageway. In parallel, Keltron has also initiated the conversion of 50 traffic intersections under IITMS. This includes the installation of smart traffic signals, vehicle actuated systems, surveillance cameras, and real-time traffic data integration at each junction. These upgrades are part of the wider plan to cover all 171 junctions with intelligent systems. Each radar and junction system is connected to the NMC's centralised traffic control room, allowing real-time monitoring, data collection, and automated violation alerts. Senior civic officials, including the municipal commissioner, are likely to inspect the radar installation site soon. Keltron's technical teams are continuously monitoring the functioning of systems on the ground. The IITMS project is a critical part of Nagpur's Smart City initiative and is expected to transform how traffic is monitored, enforced, and managed in the city.
