According to the official synopsis, Dream is trying to save his world and confronts both friends and enemies to do so. The road to redemption will challenge him with impossible choices.

Showrunner Allan Heinberg confirmed that the series is ending because the remaining material from the comic could only fill one more season. He explained in 2022 that the show was always meant to focus solely on Dream's journey.
Season 2 aims to conclude this journey as Dream moves toward war and redemption, ending his saga in a complete arc.
