Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand stressed on the pre-deployment of teams at these vulnerable points and field-level coordination among GHMC, Traffic Police, Water Board, Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGSPDCL), Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) and volunteer groups to ensure quick response during downpours.
To facilitate seamless coordination, he called for optimal use of TGICCC's advanced monitoring and communication systems. He urged all departments to anticipate challenges proactively rather than reacting to crises after they unfold.
The session also reviewed measures for uninterrupted power supply during storms, diverting floodwater to nalas, and responding to seasonal disease outbreaks. The structural integrity of buildings was another point of concern, with officials stressing immediate identification and intervention regarding dilapidated structures.
Director General of the Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire Services Y. Nagi Reddy called for a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for monsoon-related emergencies. He emphasised the inclusion of all key departments, especially medical and health, to streamline responsibilities and response mechanisms.
Deployment of Aapda Mitra volunteers and NGOs for emergency support and use of services like the SACHET mobile app to ensure public access to timely alerts, was also discussed.

Monsoon fury claims 30 lives in Himachal: State Disaster Management Authority
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 2 (ANI): At least 51 people have died in Himachal Pradesh since June 20, 2025, of which 21 fatalities were due to road accidents, while the remaining 30 were caused by monsoon-related incidents such as floods, landslides, and cloudbursts, according to Himachal Pradesh Disaster Management Authority. DC Rana, Special Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Revenue Department and Disaster Management, addressed the media in Shimla on Wednesday, providing detailed figures on the ongoing monsoon crisis in the state. 'The monsoon entered Himachal Pradesh on June 19, and since then, continuous rainfall has been recorded. Heavy rainfall on June 29 and 30 caused widespread damage,' said Rana. 'The death toll due to rain-related incidents has reached nearly 30 so far. As per current data, 34 people are reported missing, with the worst-hit area being Mandi district, where 10 deaths occurred over just two days,' he said. Rana stressed that the exact number of casualties and damages will become clear once communication networks are fully restored in remote regions. 'Many extreme weather events occurred across the state, including multiple cloudbursts and flash floods,' he noted. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed across multiple districts. 'Both SDRF and NDRF teams are present in Mandi. We have over a dozen locations where people are missing, and either the SDRF or NDRF is engaged in search and rescue there. Local police, district administration, Home Guards, and fire services are also actively involved,' Rana informed. He said the initial rain-related incidents occurred in Dharamshala and Sendwali area of Kullu, but Mandi district, particularly the Dharampur and adjoining areas, has been worst affected in the current spell. 'Currently, our top priority is rescue and relief work, not damage assessment. But as per initial departmental data, we estimate damages of around Rs 300 crore across sectors,' said the Special Secretary. Rana urged citizens to use the state's disaster alert mobile application. 'As soon as any alert is issued, we deliver it directly to the public. We have a mobile app called 'Sachet', and I appeal to everyone to download and use it. The app will notify you of alerts in your area and connect you with our control rooms for any assistance,' he said. 'As of this morning, around 280 roads remained blocked. Over 1,100 electricity supply schemes were disrupted. Nearly 600 water supply schemes were affected. Restoration efforts are underway across the state,' Rana said. (ANI)

Representative Image HYDERABAD: In a much-needed relief from the rising humidity over the past few days, light to moderate rains lashed parts of the state, including Hyderabad, on Monday. The city recorded an average rainfall of 11.4 mm across GHMC limits, according to the data from the TGDPS. Among the GHMC circles, Serilingampally topped the charts with a cumulative average rainfall of 17.1 mm, followed closely by Chandanagar at 16.4 mm and Secunderabad at 16.1 mm. Moosapet and Karwan reported 15.4 mm each, while Yousufguda and Khairatabad logged 15.1 mm, all categorised as moderate rainfall. Several other areas such as Gajularamaram, Mehdipatnam, Jubilee Hills, Amberpet, and Musheerabad registered between 12.5 mm and 14.2 mm of rainfall. On the lower end of the scale, Charminar, Rajendranagar, and Chandrayangutta saw less than 7 mm of rainfall. Meanwhile, the IMD issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places across several districts. HYDRAA zeroes in on 349 flood zones across 3 segments in city
Hyderabad: With the monsoon season upon us, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Authority (HYDRAA) has ramped up inter-departmental coordination to prevent road submersion during heavy rainfall. Officials have pinpointed 349 flood-prone areas across the Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda Commissionerates. HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath chaired a crucial coordination meeting with traffic police and other key departmental officials to bolster the city's flood preparedness. Joint CPs Gajarao Bhupal and Joel Davis, HYDRAA Additional Director V Papa Rao, and other vital personnel from traffic and civic bodies were in attendance. During the meeting, the Commissioner emphasised that preventing waterlogging on roads must be a shared objective across all departments. "There must be clarity on how to resolve each problem, and all departments must work in coordination," stated AV Ranganath. Officials have been instructed to remain vigilant in these identified zones as soon as rain alerts are issued. Special attention is being given to whether these areas are linked to nearby lakes and drains, which could exacerbate overflow. "Two hours of rain is causing water to rise by one metre in lakes. But it is taking up to a week for this water to drain out. This calls for an urgent study on lake water levels," he noted. HYDRAA is already engaged in expanding stormwater drains in critical locations such as Patny, Chikoti Gardens, and Chintal Basti in Secunderabad. The Commissioner reminded officials that court rulings explicitly prohibit encroachments on lakes and drains, stressing that such illegal structures must be removed without delay. Furthermore, HYDRAA has identified 50 major trouble spots in the city where flooding is a recurring issue. Commissioner Ranganath underscored that permanent solutions must be prioritised in these areas. To tackle emergencies during heavy rains, HYDRAA is deploying 150 Monsoon Emergency Teams to supplement its existing 51 Disaster Response Teams within the next three days. These teams will work closely with GHMC field staff, ensuring coordination with other departments including the Water Board, Traffic Police, Irrigation, and Electricity. Meanwhile, HYDRAA has introduced a dedicated phone number for citizens to report lake encroachments and violations. Citizens can now directly contact HYDRAA at 7207923085 for immediate reporting of any suspicious activities or encroachments near lakes and water bodies. Alternatively, citizens can share photos and location details via WhatsApp to 8712406899, facilitating real-time complaint filing with supporting evidence for concerned residents.
