UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka celebrates 250,000th guest milestone

Gulf Today28-04-2025
The UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka marked a significant milestone by welcoming its 250,000th visitor on Sunday, just over two weeks after officially opening its doors. The occasion was celebrated with a special ceremony as the Pavilion continues to capture the imagination of guests from around the world.
The 250,000th guest and her family were warmly received by Shihab Al Faheem, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE Embassy to Japan and Commissioner General of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, and were presented with a commemorative certificate, specially selected gifts from the Pavilion shop, and a complimentary dining experience at the Pavilion's popular Emirati restaurant.
'We are proud to welcome our 250,000th guest to the UAE Pavilion,' said Shihab Al Faheem. 'This milestone reflects the Pavilion's role as a platform for dialogue, discovery, and collaboration. We are honoured to share the UAE's story with the people of Japan and the world as we work together towards a flourishing future for all life, from Earth to Ether,' he added.
A Journey Through the UAE's Story
Guided by the theme Earth to Ether, the Pavilion offers a compelling, multisensory journey through the UAE's story — from its rich cultural roots to its ambitious innovations in space exploration, healthcare, and sustainability.
Drawing inspiration from the UAE's cherished date palm tree, the Pavilion's design reimagines traditional areesh architecture through a striking oasis of 90 soaring rachis columns, crafted using sustainable practices and Japanese woodworking expertise.
Inside the Pavilion, guests embark on a multisensory journey that shares the UAE's national story, one of deep humanity and remarkable transformation rooted in enduring values. Throughout the experience, guests meet the people and innovators shaping the nation's future, including the Explorers of Space, the Catalysts of Healthcare, and the Stewards of Sustainability.
The journey culminates in 'Woven Legacies', a powerful documentary installation that brings visitors face to face with contemporary life in the United Arab Emirates.
Since opening, the Pavilion has witnessed strong and sustained guest interest, reflecting its growing reputation as one of the most engaging national pavilions across Expo 2025 Osaka.
The UAE Expo Office serves as a national platform to convene people, ideas, and innovations in service of global progress. Incubated by the Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation and operating under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office leads the UAE's strategic participation at international expositions — most recently Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.

Heritage visit for 'Al Dhaid Summer' participants to Al Naboodah House

The visit was held within the framework of the "Sharjah Summer Sports – Our Holiday is Different" programme, specifically during the "Here is Sharjah" week. A group of summer programme participants took part in the visit, including a number of people with disabilities, who embarked on a culturally and humanly enriching exploration. Discovering a Unique Architectural Gem During the visit, participants were introduced to the house's unique architectural style. Considered one of the most prominent architectural masterpieces of old Sharjah, the house features intricate design details that reflect the brilliance of traditional Emirati construction. This includes elaborately carved wooden doors and windows, Roman-style marble columns, and a traditional wind-tower ventilation system that demonstrates a deep environmental understanding of the region's needs at the time. Immersive Cultural Experience Participants also had the opportunity to explore the house's interior décor and carefully restored rooms, which have been preserved to maintain their authenticity and historical elements. The immersive experience transported visitors back to the atmosphere of Emirati life in the late 19th century. Exploring Al Naboodah Family Collection Visitors stopped at the house's indoor exhibition, where they were introduced to valuable artefacts belonging to Al Naboodah family. These included old coins, pearl measuring tools, interactive display screens, and a short film documenting the history of the pearl trade in the Arabian Gulf. This added an educational and documentary dimension to the visit, enriching participants' understanding of the deep roots of Emirati identity. Affirming the Cultural Mission At the conclusion of the visit, His Excellency Salem Mohammed bin Howaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of Al Dhaid Club's Board of Directors, expressed the importance of such initiatives. He affirmed that heritage visits provide a platform for summer, cultural, and social engagement, and serve an educational purpose aimed at instilling pride in Emirati identity and introducing the youth to the richness of their history. He also noted that including people with disabilities in the visit reflects the club's commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all its members. Looking Ahead to More Quality Programmes Al Ketbi stressed that Al Dhaid Club will continue organising such high-quality activities throughout the summer programme, turning the holiday into a comprehensive opportunity for entertainment and learning. These efforts aim to connect new generations with the authenticity of the past and the spirit of the present, in line with Sharjah's vision of nurturing a generation that is proud of its identity, aware of its heritage, and equipped to shape the future.
