Kremlin: Date for third round of negotiations with Kyiv not yet set

Saba Yemena day ago

Moscow - Saba:
Dmitry Peskov, the official spokesperson for the Kremlin, stated on Sunday that Moscow hopes the dates for the third round of negotiations with Kyiv will be determined soon.
When asked whether any new meetings had been scheduled in the near future, Peskov replied, "No, they have not been scheduled yet. We are waiting for the third round of talks. We hope the date will be clarified soon."
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced last Friday that he had held discussions with the Russian and Ukrainian delegations, noting that the parties "have the willingness" to hold a third round of negotiations.
In an interview with the Turkish channel "Haber," Fidan added, "I communicated with the parties yesterday, and the implementation of the decisions from the second round—such as the exchange of prisoners and the bodies of fallen soldiers—is being finalized."
He continued, "If the promises made to each other are fulfilled, we see the parties' desire for a third round of talks. The Russian side has already stated this. We are ready to host the negotiations. The most important thing is to prevent the outbreak of conflict."

Moldovan ex-PM accuses authorities of manipulating tariff

Chisinau - Saba: Former Moldovan Prime Minister Vladimir Filat accused authorities of deliberately raising energy prices to manipulate public opinion ahead of parliamentary elections. "Gas and electricity tariffs should have been reduced long ago, but the government is keeping them artificially high so that later, on the eve of the elections, they can present the reduction as a 'heroic achievement,'" Filat said live on First in Moldova TV. He noted that on the eve of the presidential elections in Moldova, the authorities promised citizens a lot, including balanced energy tariffs, but immediately after the elections, there was a tariff shock. According to Filat, before the parliamentary elections, the authorities are implementing the same scheme: "promises, silence, and then, perhaps, a new wave of price increases." The former prime minister believes that the message about tariff reductions is being used for propaganda purposes; it will be accompanied by loud statements aimed at distracting from the real situation. He added, "They will say that this is the result of the struggle for 'energy independence,' that they 'withstood pressure from the East,' and they will certainly mention (Russian President Vladimir) Putin's name to gain political leverage. But in reality, everything they touch turns into a crisis." Elections for the new Moldovan legislature are scheduled for September 28. In January 2025, Moldova experienced another energy crisis after Russian gas supplies were cut off. The National Energy Regulatory Authority raised electricity tariffs by 65-75% and heating tariffs by 12-38%, depending on the region. The government promised to compensate the most affected consumers, but to no avail. After Ukraine halted the transit of Russian gas to Europe, and also because of Chisinau's unwillingness to repay its debts to Gazprom, Moldova and Transnistria were left without "blue fuel". While Chisinau received energy supplies from European countries, which only increased tariffs for the population, Tiraspol found itself under a complete gas blockade. In Transnistria, until February 1, there was a system of rolling power outages, and residential buildings lacked heating and hot water in subzero temperatures abroad. Russian Army Takes Control of First Town in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

Moscow - (Saba): Vladimir Rogov, a member of the Zaporozhye Oblast Council and head of the "We Are With Russia" popular movement, announced on Monday that Russian forces had expelled Kyiv's forces from the first settlement in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, the town of Dachnoye. Sputnik quoted Rogov as saying in a statement: "Our forces have advanced along this axis, and the enemy has already been expelled from the town of Dachnoye. It is the first town in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast from which the enemy has been expelled." The member of the Zaporozhye Oblast Council added that Russian forces are currently conducting combing operations in the area. The town of Dachnoye is located on the border between Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and the Donetsk People's Republic. Although Dachnoye is administratively part of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, neighboring villages such as Novo-Ukrainka, Yalta, and Zaporozhye are located within the territory of the Donetsk Republic and have been liberated by Russian forces, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Center and East Russian military formations had reached the western border of Donetsk and were continuing their advance toward Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. For his part, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian military advance in Dnipropetrovsk is partly aimed at creating a buffer zone. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print
