Ramon Sosa leaves Nottingham Forest for Brazilian club Palmeiras

New York Times09-07-2025
Ramon Sosa has joined Brazilian club Palmeiras from Nottingham Forest after just a year with the Midlands club.
The Paraguay international winger joined Forest in August 2024 in an £11million move from Argentine side CA Talleres.
He scored one goal – against Brighton in September last year – in 19 Premier League appearances, only one of which was a start.

The 25-year-old did also net twice in the FA Cup, as Nuno Espirito Santo's side reached the semi-finals of the competition last season. But he generally found it hard to secure a regular starting place in the side as Forest unexpectedly pushed for European football last term.
Sosa, who has 22 caps for his national team, returns to South America with the four-time Copa Libertadores winners, who currently sit fourth in Brazil's Serie A.
With Anthony Elanga also expected to make a £52million move to Newcastle United, Forest will look to bolster their wide options this summer.
They have a number of winger targets, with PSV's Johan Bakayoko among those on their list of potential options.

Nottingham Forest set to bid for AC Milan midfielder Yunus Musah

Nottingham Forest are making 'serious' moves to sign AC Milan midfielder Yunus Musah. According to Gazzetta journalist Luca Bianchin, interest from the Tricky Trees is 'more concrete than ever' and the club has made contact to understand the parameters required to complete a deal. Forest are preparing an offer for Musah as they look to beat Premier League rivals to the punch. They've been tracking the Milan midfielder for several weeks, but now it looks like they're ready to make a move that could bring the United States international to the Premier League. Musah joined Milan from Valencia two years ago, but his time at San Siro Stadium may be coming to an end, and Forest are offering him a way out. He's not in the plans of Milan's new coach, Massimiliano Allegri, and the club is looking to raise funds through player sales. Musah is seen as one of the likeliest names to be sold. Napoli had already tried their luck with a €25 million (£21.8m) bid, but Milan turned it down. They're holding out for a package closer to €30m (£26m). Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United are among Premier League clubs to have shown interest in Musah, but neither are willing to meet Milan's demands. Forest narrowly missed out on a Champions League spot last season, but they could be playing in the Europa League next term, so they want to bolster Nuno Espirito Santo's overachieving squad. Milan have made it clear that they want at least £26m, but Forest are expected to test their resolve with a £21m bid. They're confident that the offer will be enough to land the 22-year-old midfielder. Wolves are still lurking in the background and could match Forest's bid if it's accepted by Milan. Musah would be a decent addition for Wolves. At 22, the former Arsenal academy star has already racked up over 180 appearances across spells in La Liga and Serie A. He's also an established United States international with 47 caps to his name. His dribbling ability, energy, and ball-carrying would be an invaluable asset for Forest. Meanwhile, Forest are also in talks to sign Adama Traore from Fulham and have been linked with an audacious move for Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho.
