Top industry associations back Seatrade Maritime expo
Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure (MOEI) in strategic partnership with DP World and as part of UAE Maritime Week, Seatrade Maritime Logistics Middle East will run from May 6 to 8.
The 15 official supporting organisations are: Abu Dhabi Maritime Hub; Dubai Shipping Agents Association (DSAA); Emirates Shipping Association (ESA); Emirates Maritime Legal Association (EMLA); International Bunkering Association (IBIA); ICS Middle East; IMarEST UAE; IMPA Save; The Ship Suppliers Association Dubai (ISSA); Mission to Seafarers; National Association of Freight and Logistics (NAFL); The Nautical Institute; UAE Blue Pass; UAE Harbour Masters Association; and WISTA UAE.
Between them, they will be hosting a carefully curated mix of thought leadership conference sessions, panel discussions and in-depth technical workshops fronted by members and covering all aspects of maritime, said the organisers.
This includes digitalisation, energy transition, sustainability, engine room operations, bunkering and alternative fuels, port safety, workforce diversity, ship finance and freight rates, innovation in trading and seafarer welfare, they stated.
Emma Howell, Content Director at Seatrade Maritime, part of Informa Markets, said: "The maritime cluster in the UAE is a key driver of sustained economic growth in the GCC region and the leading trade associations have a vital role to play in its continued development."
"We took the decision this year to give the region's top maritime trade associations greater input into developing our conference programme, and are thrilled with the response," he stated.

UAE Announces New Mortgage Procedures
The UAE has announced new mortgage plans to slash bureaucracy and support real estate efficiency. In a move toward seamless government services in the UAE, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) held its inaugural Customer Council meeting to overhaul the mortgage release procedure following loan repayment. The initiative—part of the Ministry's Smart Government agenda—brings together federal and local authorities, the Emirates Development Bank, and end-users to pinpoint bottlenecks and co-design a streamlined process. Council participants identified key hurdles that traditionally burdened homebuyers: Multiple required visits to various entities Inconsistent document checklists across emirates Lack of digital integration, prolonging case closures Under the new model, piloting in Ajman before nationwide rollout, all direct debit cancellations will be automatically processed by Emirates Development Bank as soon as a loan is cleared. Physical trips to collect loan guarantees are eliminated in participating emirates, and digital connectivity between MoEI, Emirates Development Bank, and Ajman's Department of Land and Real Estate Regulation ensures instant notifications once transactions finalise. These combined enhancements shrink the service timeline from several days to just one working day from repayment. In concrete terms, customers will no longer need the previous six documents nor make the five visits once deemed unavoidable—achieving a 100 percent reduction in procedural steps. Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEI, said: 'The Customer Council meeting aligns with the UAE Government's vision of building flexible and smart government services that place the customer at the heart of improvement and development. 'It reflects our commitment to involving customers in decision-making and enhancing transparency. The proposed solutions today are based on actual needs that have been identified and analysed within the framework of the Government Accelerators. 'We believe that achieving zero bureaucracy can only be realised through digital integration, streamlined procedures, and the elimination of unnecessary requirements—goals we have already begun to achieve through this initiative. 'The Ministry will continue working with its strategic partners to translate the outcomes of this council into concrete, actionable improvements that enhance customer satisfaction and elevate the UAE's global rankings in government service efficiency.' Echoing this, Mohammed Bin Taliah, Chief of Government Services of the UAE Government, noted that the mortgage release service after loan repayment represents a significant leap in the level of integration between federal and local entities. Omar bin Omair Al Muhairi, Director-General of the Department of Land and Real Estate Regulation in Ajman, stated that participation in the first customer council on mortgage release procedures comes as part of the strategic partnership with MoEI and in continuation of joint efforts to shape the future of the real estate sector and enhance the efficiency of government work through proactive service packages that keep pace with rapid development. Khazna Data Centers, NVIDIA join to develop AI factories in region
Aligning with growing demand for AI infrastructure, Khazna Data Centers (Khazna), a global leader in hyperscale digital infrastructure, today announced it is collaborating with NVIDIA to build AI factories in the MEA region. Following the high-profile visit of US President Donald Trump to the UAE, and the announcement of a planned 5GW UAE-US AI campus, the collaboration is another example of the deepening ties between the region and US technology leaders in shaping the future of AI and digital infrastructure, a statement said. Through this collaboration, NVIDIA has certified the design of Khazna's next-generation facilities to support the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture. Khazna's ongoing and upcoming infrastructure developments will feature NVIDIA-ready blueprints as standard, ensuring full compatibility with the latest GPU-accelerated workloads. Khazna will design the majority of its future data halls with capacities of up to 50MW, developing individual AI clusters of up to 250MW. With many of these data halls situated in the planned UAE-US AI campus, this will place the UAE among the world's most advanced AI infrastructure hubs. Khazna is also expanding rapidly across the Middle East, Africa and Europe, with plans to scale up to 1GW of capacity in countries such as France, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Türkiye, and Kenya. KEC International wins key Saudi power project contract
KEC International, a global infrastructure engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) major, has secured the contract for the design, supply and installation of 380 kV overhead transmission lines in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). A unit of RPG Enterprises, one of India's fastest-growing business groups with a turnover of $5.2 billion, KEC International has a footprint in 110+ countries and is involved in the verticals of power transmission and distribution, civil, transportation, renewables, oil and gas pipelines and cables. KEC International also secured its second international order for terminal station works in Africa in addition to its ongoing pipeline laying project in the region. This comes as part of the new orders worth Rs22 billion ($258.7 million) snapped up by the group across various businesses. In addition to the Saudi contract, its Transmission & Distribution business has secured orders for supply of towers, hardware and poles in the Americas along with cable work projects in India and overseas. On the big contract win, Vimal Kejriwal, MD & CEO, said: "We are delighted by the order wins secured across businesses, especially on the international front. The large order wins in Saudi Arabia have further strengthened our international T&D order book." "These wins reaffirm the Mena region's strategic importance as a key growth driver for us. Our subsidiary, SAE Towers has secured a significant tower supply order in Mexico, reflecting an uptick in the North American T&D market," he stated.
