Facility builds on the success of the company's existing India footprint by co-locating its labs and technical capabilities to accelerate development
New facility builds on Lubrizol's commitment of $350 million in localized manufacturing and in-region investments over the last two years
MUMBAI, India, April 01, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--To accelerate India-based innovation, Lubrizol announced it will open a state-of-the-art Technology and Innovation Center in Maharashtra. The first of its kind for the company globally, the facility is designed to progress breakthrough innovations, expand collaboration, and enhance speed to market for Lubrizol and the many customers and industries it serves both in the region and globally.
The center will empower collaboration across Lubrizol, co-locating lab capabilities and expanding on the success of existing in-region technology Centers of Excellence (COE). The site will also include a Customer Experience Center, allowing Lubrizol to co-develop solutions with customers and partners. The facility will feature advanced analytical capabilities to support research needs, including automation and digital tools, allowing teams to apply decision science to accelerate next-generation solutions.

Today the region is a global leader in CPVC technology. Lubrizol's India Bar Soap COE has helped improve the structural integrity and sustainability of bar soap, ensuring soaps last longer and create less waste, earning recognition from leading global brands. Lubrizol's Technology and Innovation Center announcement follows multiple Lubrizol investment announcements, with a more than $350 million USD commitment into India over the last 18 months. This includes bolstering Lubrizol's manufacturing strength in the region with plans to construct the company's second largest manufacturing facility globally to support the region's growing transportation and industrial markets, as well as a collaboration to build the world's largest CPVC resin plant.* The company also opened a Global Capability Center in Pune last year, doubled its capacity at its Dahej, Gujarat, manufacturing site and announced several other projects. Indian regulator locks U.S. trading firm out of its stock market, accusing it of ‘index manipulation' and ‘unlawful gains'
U.S. proprietary trading outfit Jane Street has been accused by the Indian Securities and Exchange Board of index manipulation on its exchanges and walloped with a financial penalty of around $570 million, based on its 'illegal gains' as the board judged them. Furthermore, the regulator ruled on Thursday that 'Jane Street entities are restrained from accessing the securities market and are further prohibited from buying, selling, or otherwise dealing in securities.' Now that the megabill has passed, expect a ton of short-term debt to be sold to finance the government's deficit 'I'm single': At 70, I have $500,000 in stocks and $220,000 in savings. How do I invest my $130,000 windfall? 'Today is my 61st birthday': I have my ex-spouse's Social Security benefits. Should I retire at 65 and travel? 'I do all the yard work, cooking and cleaning': I live with my daughter and her lazy boyfriend. She wants me to buy her house. Do I say yes? My wife and I are in our late 60s. Do I sell stocks to pay our $30,000 credit-card debt — or do it gradually over 3 years? For Jane Street, this represents a major disappointment, considering it reaped $2.3 billion from trading in India alone in 2024. India is an appealing market for derivative players given its high daily turnover — volume averages $11 to 12 billion per day, according to Mumbai-based Macquarie stockbroker Sam Rigby. The market sees heavy participation of relatively unsophisticated retail investors in derivatives, primarily equity options trading. For the last five years, India has been the leading exchange for the number of contracts traded although the U.S is larger by dollar value. Having pursued a fairly relentless upward trajectory and trebled in the last decade, the Indian stock market has become hugely speculative. Owing to impressive growth rates, the world's largest population, huge investments in infrastructure and digitisation, a booming middle class and the likelihood of becoming the fourth-largest economy by 2027, India has become the world's most expensive market in terms of the most popular valuation metric, the price-earnings ratio. It now ranks alongside the U.S. market at 25 times. Having outperformed other markets so comprehensively and been a consensus overweight for emerging market fund managers for so long, this year the benchmark Indian index, the Nifty 50 IN:NIFTY50, has struggled. By the end of the first half of 2025 the index returned 7.45%, roughly half that delivered by the MSCI Asia Pacific index. The extent of the involvement of U.S. proprietary trading firms and hedge funds only really became apparent during a courtroom battle last year between Millennium and Jane Street when the latter's profits became public. After this disclosure, SEBI suddenly took an interest in protecting retail investors from what they consider exploitative strategies and warned Jane Street in February to desist from such practices. SEBI alleged in its report that retail investors had lost $21 billion cumulatively in three years up to 2024. The landmark case against Jane Street comes at a very delicate stage in tariff negotiations between Washington and Delhi. Before the tariff pause was announced, India was hit with a 26% rate, reflecting its large surplus with the U.S. Diplomats and trade missions met in Washington over the last week, but talks are going down to the wire. For President Trump, a trade deal with India would represent a huge coup and perhaps the Jane Street ruling is one way of India trying to exert political leverage at this key juncture. 'Finance makes me break out in hives': I inherited $240K from my parents. Do I pay off my $258K mortgage and give up my job? My wife and I have $7,000 a month in pensions and Social Security, plus $140,000 cash. Can we afford to retire? The Dow and Russell 2000 are joining the stock market's party. Is it a game changer for the bulls? My job is offering me a payout. Should I take a $61,000 lump sum — or $355 a month for life? I'm a stay-at-home mom. Do I take a part-time job to spend more time with my kids — or get a job for six figures? Trump says US will begin talks with China on possible TikTok deal as early as Monday
President Trump said he will begin talks with China in coming days on the sale of TikTok. 'We pretty much have a deal,' Trump told reporters late Friday. 'I think we're gonna start Monday or Tuesday . . . talking to China, perhaps President Xi [Jinping] or one of his representatives, but we pretty much have a deal.' The White House will likely need China to approve such a deal regarding the video-sharing, social-media platform, added the president. 4 President Donald Trump said he will begin talks with China in the coming days about a possible deal on the sale of TikTok. REUTERS Advertisement Trump made the announcement after The Post's Charles Gasparino earlier Friday reported the commander-in-chief had found a buyer for the controversial Chinese-owned short-video app but his real problem is with the seller. TikTok is being used as a pawn in the US-Chinese trade negotiations by Beijing, which knows Trump wants the app to remain operating in the United States, sources said. There will be no sale of TikTok to American investors — a move needed to conform to a US law — until the Chinese president is confident he has extracted as much as he can in terms of a favorable trade deal with the White House, added the sources. KAZAKHSTAN'S PRESIDENTIAL PRESS SERVICE/AFP via Getty Images Trump last month signed an executive order to extend the deadline to Sept. 17 for TikTok's China-based parent company ByteDance to divest TikTok's assets in the United States. It was the third such extension since Trump returned to the White House in January. In April, a group of wealthy investors and tech honchos were poised to place a bid with China to buy the app's US-based operations until Trump launched a trade war against Beijing, hitting China with 145% tariffs on imported goods. Advertisement That number has since been lowered as both sides negotiate other trade issues as part of a broader deal. 4 President Trump said he has a 'great relationship' with Chinese President Xi Jinping. AP When asked how confident he is that China will agree to a deal, the president said, 'I'm not confident, but I think so. President Xi and I have a great relationship, and I think it's good for them. I think the deal is good for China, and it's good for us.' 4 Trump last month signed an executive order to extend the deadline to Sept. 17 for TikTok's China-based parent company ByteDance to divest TikTok's assets in the United States. AFP via Getty Images Advertisement Congress voted overwhelmingly last year to ban TikTok if ByteDance wouldn't divest — via a 79-18 Senate vote and a 360-58 House landslide. Then-President Joe Biden signed the act. Trump halted the implementation of the ban on his first day in office — issuing an initial 75-day extension. Trump was skeptical of TikTok as a Chinese data-collection front during his first term, but came out against the ban after most major US-owned social media and content platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Google-owned YouTube, banned him following the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

HDFC Bank Reports 16.4% Jump in Deposits in June Quarter
Period-end deposits stood at INR 27,640 billion as of June 30, 2025, a 16.2 per cent increase from INR 23,791 billion a year earlier and 1.8 per cent growth over INR 27,147 billion as of March 31, 2025. You're reading Entrepreneur India, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media. HDFC bank posted steady growth in both advances and deposits for the quarter ended June 30, 2025, with key metrics reflecting sustained lending momentum and a robust deposit inflow, according to a regulatory filing. Average advances under management stood at INR 27,423 billion in the June 2025 quarter, marking an 8.3 per cent increase from INR 25,327 billion a year earlier and a 1.7 per cent rise from INR 26,955 billion in the previous quarter. The period-end advances under management reached INR 27,820 billion as of June 30, up 8.0 per cent year-on-year and 0.3 per cent sequentially. Gross advances at the end of the quarter were INR 26,530 billion, a year-on-year rise of 6.7 per cent from INR 24,869 billion. During the same period, HDFC bank securitised or assigned loans worth INR 33 billion as part of a strategic move to manage risk and liquidity more efficiently. On the deposit side, average deposits for the June 2025 quarter were INR 26,580 billion, reflecting a 16.4 per cent increase from INR 22,831 billion in the corresponding period last year and a 5.1 per cent rise over INR 25,280 billion reported in the March 2025 quarter. The breakdown of deposit growth shows a continued shift towards time deposits. Average time deposits grew 22.1 per cent year-on-year to INR 17,976 billion, and rose 5.8 per cent compared to the previous quarter. In contrast, average CASA (current and savings account) deposits rose 6.1 per cent to INR 8,604 billion from INR 8,106 billion a year earlier, and were up 3.8 per cent from INR 8,289 billion in March. Period-end deposits stood at INR 27,640 billion as of June 30, 2025, a 16.2 per cent increase from INR 23,791 billion a year earlier and 1.8 per cent growth over INR 27,147 billion as of March 31, 2025. Period-end time deposits rose sharply to INR 18,270 billion, up 20.6 per cent year-on-year and 3.2 per cent over the previous quarter. CASA deposits at period end were INR 9,370 billion, an 8.5 per cent annual increase, though slightly down—by 0.8 per cent—from the March 2025 quarter. The data indicates a continued preference among depositors for fixed returns amid evolving rate dynamics, even as the bank maintains steady growth in its lending book. The mixed trend in CASA deposits suggests a competitive retail deposit environment.
