RTA opens new pedestrian bridge on Sheikh Rashid Street
The bicycle and pedestrian bridge can be found on Sheikh Rashid Street, connecting Al Mankhool and Al Jafilya.
It is part of the RTA's ongoing efforts to make Dubai one of the safest cities in the world.
The new 91-metre bridge allows pedestrians to safely cross one of the emirate's busiest roads.
Pedestrians will be able to use the bridge to connect to nearby public bus stations, residential areas and commercial zones due to its strategic location.

The bridge has been designed with accessibility in mind, with elevators on both sides to allow everyone to be able to use it.
The structure of the bridge pays homage to Dubai's extensive maritime heritage with diving and commercial vessels decorating the final design.
News of the new pedestrian bridge comes after all works on one of the city's biggest traffic projects was completed on the Bur Dubai side.
The Shindagha Corridor Project opened the fifth and final bridge as part of the Sheikh Rashid-Al Mina Street Interchange Improvement Project on Sunday May 11.
Stretching from the Al Garhoud Bridge towards Port Rashid all the way to the Infinity Bridge and Waterfront Souk, traffic flow is expected to be much smoother from now.
If your daily commute uses the route, then you're in luck, as the RTA has stated the works have reduced travel time from 80 to 12 minutes.

The Roads and Transport Authority has announced its latest plans to bring robotaxis to Dubai. The RTA has signed a memorandum of understanding with American firm to introduce driverless taxi trials this year, ahead of a wider rollout in 2026. Dubai residents can expect an advanced fleet of vehicles to hit the roads next year. The company's vehicles are equipped with advanced artificial intelligence algorithms, supported by a sophisticated suite of sensors, including lidars, radars, and cameras, to ensure precise navigation and safety across varying road and weather conditions. This latest agreement follows previous deals with popular ride-hailing app Uber and Chinese firm Baidu to also start trials of autonomous taxis in Dubai. Driverless taxis will be introduced to Dubai roads in 2025 (Credit: RTA) collaborates with industry leaders, including Toyota, GAC Motor, and BAIC Motor, to develop its seventh-generation robotaxis. Mass deployment is slated for later this year following the vehicles' successful debut in Shanghai in April. Its advanced sensor array handles complex scenarios ranging from high-speed highways to crowded urban centres like Dubai's business and financial districts. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the board of executive directors at the RTA, said the partnership will help the authority in its goal to bring more autonomous options to Dubai. He said: 'RTA's continued expansion of partnerships with leading global companies in the field of autonomous mobility marks a key step towards achieving the Dubai Smart Self-Driving Transport Strategy, which aims to convert 25 percent of all trips in Dubai into autonomous journeys across various modes of transport by 2030. Emirates to upgrade flights to 7 top destinations
Emirates has announced a range of upgrades to services travelling to seven of the world's top holiday destinations. The DXB-based airline will expand its schedules in Argentina, Brazil and Italy later this year while also layering on more retrofitted aircraft throughout its network. The world's biggest international airline will add a third daily flight to Italy's fashion capital of Milan, which will be served by a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. RTA Al Safa Street project to cut travel time to 3 minutes
Good news motorists — a busy Dubai road is about to undergo a huge renovation, according to the RTA. The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that Al Safa Street will see a number of improvements between the Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Wasl Street intersections. Part of a master plan covering both Umm Suqeim and Al Wasl Streets, two new bridges will be constructed as well as two tunnels. Surface roads will also be widened, as well as a series of upgrades to intersections and traffic signals. 'It also includes the development of dedicated pedestrian walkways and cycling tracks, the creation of vibrant urban spaces, and landscaped areas. Additional works cover upgrades to lighting systems, directional signage, the rainwater drainage network, and the protection and relocation of existing utility services.' 'Al Safa Street Improvement Project is part of RTA's broader master plan to upgrade the road network in the area. 'This includes the development of Al Wasl Street from its intersection with Umm Suqeim Street to its intersection with 2nd December Street, covering 15km in length, as well as the development of Umm Suqeim Street from the junction with Jumeirah Street to the intersection with Al Khail Road, spanning 6km.'
