Diddy facing 20 years but NFL's Dez Bryant says Cassie 'was no victim'

Dez Bryant responds to Diddy trial, says abuse was wrong but Cassie 'not innocent'. Brandon Wade/AP
Just hours after Sean 'Diddy' Combs was found guilty of transporting Cassie across state lines for sex acts, Dez Bryant logged on to X and said what almost no one dared to: 'Cassie wasn't no victim… not even close.
' The former Cowboys wide receiver didn't just drop a one-liner and dip, he doubled and tripled down with a full-on thread, defending Diddy, criticizing Cassie, and throwing a controversial take on Hollywood relationships into the mix.
Now, with Diddy facing up to 20 years in prison, Bryant's comments are being dissected everywhere from the media to legal circles to abuse survivors' advocacy groups.
The verdict came down and Dez Bryant wasted no time taking sides
On July 2, 2025, a federal jury reached its decision in the Diddy case.
He was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering, but convicted on two counts under the Mann Act, which involved transporting women including Cassie for prostitution.
That alone would've been explosive news. But within hours, Dez Bryant made sure the internet stayed heated.
'Cassie wasn't no victim… not even close.'
'Her getting beat was extremely unacceptable… but accountability has to play its part somewhere.'
That quote wasn't even the most aggressive one. In another tweet, Bryant fired back at a fan saying Cassie couldn't leave Diddy:
'I'm not sad… Diddy wrong and Cassie wrong… a sin is a sin. Neither is greater than the other.'
Bryant's argument? That Cassie wasn't some helpless woman trapped in Diddy's world, she allegedly chose it.
He claimed she benefited from the fame and lifestyle, and compared her situation to a wife staying in a toxic marriage to keep her Hollywood status.
'Your wife of 15 years will risk her family for a lifestyle in Hollywood... Accountability have to play its part somewhere.'
To Bryant, abuse may have happened but Cassie wasn't completely powerless, and she should also be held accountable for her choices.
But legally, Cassie's testimony helped convict Diddy
Cassie wasn't just mentioned in passing, she was
central
to the government's case.
She testified for four days about being emotionally and physically abused, coerced into drug use, and forced into what she called 'freak-offs.' One of the most damning moments? Surveillance footage showing Diddy physically assaulting her in a hotel hallway.
The jury believed enough of her story to convict Diddy on two felony counts.
Bryant's tweets essentially reject the very testimony that helped put Diddy behind bars.
But regardless of where the public lands, one thing is certain: Dez Bryant didn't just share a hot take, he poked a hornet's nest, right as the legal system finally held Diddy accountable for some of his actions.

Why Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce still can't dethrone the Dallas Cowboys as 'America's Team' despite Chiefs' meteoric rise

Despite the Chiefs' surge in popularity—thanks in large part to 's high-profile romance with Travis Kelce—the Dallas Cowboys still hold firm as 'America's Team.' From record-breaking TV ratings to decades of branding power, no amount of pop culture buzz has been enough to dethrone the Cowboys' legacy as the NFL's most iconic and nationally beloved franchise. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Cowboys' legacy still defines the NFL's national identity The nickname "America's Team" was coined by NFL Films in the late 1970s after the Cowboys lost to the Steelers in Super Bowl XIII. Even though they didn't win, their blend of star power, consistent success, and massive nationwide appeal made the nickname stick. As former head coach Tom Landry once admitted, he wasn't fond of the title because it 'put a bullseye on the team,' but over time, the identity became iconic. That legacy hasn't faded. In fact, it was reinforced during the 2024 Thanksgiving Day matchup between the Cowboys and the Giants, which drew a staggering 38.8 million viewers — peaking at 41.3 million. It was the most-watched regular-season game of the year. These numbers are a clear indicator that, love them or hate them, America tunes in for the Cowboys. The Swift-Kelce effect is massive, but not enough While the Cowboys represent decades of branding power, the Chiefs have enjoyed a rapid rise in both on-field performance and pop culture relevance — largely due to the romance between Kelce and Swift. Her appearances at games and the resulting media buzz introduced the NFL to a whole new demographic: Swifties. But despite Swift's overwhelming influence and the Chiefs' dominance in recent Super Bowls, the idea that Kansas City could suddenly replace the Cowboys as America's favorite team remains far-fetched. As the article emphasizes, 'the title of 'America's Team' still belongs to the Dallas Cowboys.' Ultimately, it comes down to one word: branding. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The Cowboys have spent decades building a global image that's tightly woven into the fabric of American sports culture. From their recognizable star logo to their enduring media visibility, the Cowboys are more than a football team — they are a cultural institution. Also Read: While the Chiefs may be this decade's NFL darlings, and Taylor Swift might dominate every headline, "America's Team" is more than popularity. It's heritage, consistency, and unrivaled recognition — and that still belongs to Dallas.
