Internet viewers are in disbelief over what happened when two golden retrievers were left alone together for the very first time.
TikTok user Patrizi (@patrizi_golden_boy) shared the aftermath of destruction caused by her two dogs, Bentley and Beau, after she left them unsupervised. The video, which quickly captured viewers' attention, racked up more than 8,000 likes and over 223,000 views on TikTok.
"When you leave your dogs home alone for the first time together and come back to this …," reads the text overlaying the footage.
"Tell me you have dogs without telling me you have dogs," she captioned the post.
The clip reveals a completely ransacked living room, with debris and items thrown across the floor, while Bentley and Beau lounge nonchalantly—clearly unbothered and acting as if they had no part in the chaos.
While the video amused many viewers, it also sparked a wider conversation about the reality of leaving dogs home alone—especially for the first time.
The charity Dogs Trust says that it is important to gradually build up the time your dog spends alone. Start with short separations, offer them enrichment activities, and avoid making a fuss when leaving or returning home. This helps reduce anxiety and destructive behavior.
PetMD also advises owners to manage chewing and scratching by giving dogs safe chew toys; ensuring plenty of exercise; and limiting access to areas with tempting objects. Using baby gates or closing off rooms can make a big difference in preventing damage.
Another popular option is crate training. The American Kennel Club says that "crate training provides dogs with a safe, quiet space" and can help prevent accidents when owners are away. It also protects dogs from potentially dangerous items around the home.

TikTok users were quick to chime in with their own experiences and opinions:
"People give me a hard time about still using a crate for our 3 year old goldens when we leave the house. This is why," wrote Kate.
"First of all, someone broke in and made a mess. Be happy they left the dogs," posted Kristy.
"The golden teenager phase is not for the weak," commented Michelle.
"I've seen too many good examples as to why I will never leave my dog out of his kennel while I'm gone," added CJ.
"My German Shepard is almost 4 and we've never kenneled her, she has been an angel up until this last year! She gets into the garbage every time we're gone! Had to buy a garbage can with a lock," shared Bee.
"A crate would prevent all of this, safer for the dogs and cheaper on your pockets," wrote Maya.

Mom Finds 'Dream' 5-Bedroom House for Sale, but There's Just One Catch

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A family has found their forever home in the form of a former funeral home, with its embalming room and casket showroom still intact. Ashley Berken, 39, lives in Wisconsin with her wife, Beth, and their four children, and were on the hunt for a house big enough for their family as well as two home offices. Berken, an executive director, says they toured several houses and didn't find the perfect fit—until they came across a "beautiful 4,500-square-foot Victorian," which was right at the top of their budget for $300,000. "There are five bedrooms, but the master suite is kind of like two rooms. I call it my mom sanctuary," Berken told Newsweek. Ashley Berken shows off the former embalming room of her new home. TikTok @thefuneralhomehouse There was a twist, however—this home had previously been used as a funeral home, which they didn't realize until they "noticed the ramps in the garage for body transport." "That night, I searched through local historical pages and confirmed that it was indeed a former funeral home," Berken told Newsweek—and described it as "my absolute dream come true!" As a young girl, Berken had loved the classic coming-of-age movie My Girl, which revolved around a girl whose home doubles as a funeral home as her father works as a funeral director. As she put it: "There's something deeply special to me about a place that holds so much history and love, where for decades, people gathered to share memories of loved ones. It feels like this house has a heart and a story of its own." "But for us, it's been a dream—our kids, pets—two wiener dogs and three cats— and plants are thriving in this home." Funeral homes provide facilities for the funeral or memorial service, as well as organizing cremation and burial arrangements and embalming, dressing and casketing the deceased, according to Earth Funeral. And while living in a former funeral home might not be everyone's cup of tea, Berken has gained a large online following as she shows off the new property and the work they're doing to it, from roof repairs to plumbing. In one video to her TikTok account, @thefuneralhomehouse, on May 16, Berken showed off the embalming room and casket showroom with a ramp leading to their kitchen. "This is where the bodies were wheeled from the garage," she explained, before heading into the former embalming room, which still contains the original sink which would have been used to drain body fluids into the plumbing system. While she's not entirely sure what she will do with the sink, or the room itself, she pointed out the "great light" the room gets, and suggested it would be great to grow and repot plants in the winter. The next room she showed was the former casket showroom, which she plans to turn into a "hangout space" for the kids, particularly as they get older. Berken's video was viewed more than 640,000 times, with people from all walks of life commenting on the clip to give their two cents. TikTok @thefuneralhomehouse One, who identified themselves as a funeral director, said: "Most old prep rooms give me the creeps but this one seems like such a safe space. I cannot wait to see the future decor! You're bringing life back into the home." "Embalmer here and I think the greenhouse idea is awesome! Definitely keep the sink," another said, while one wrote: "I'm a paranormal lead investigator and would recommend a proper spiritual cleansing with white sage and prayer to move on possible spirits that have not crossed over before attempting refurbishing." Others weren't as enthusiastic, one writing: "Respectfully... immediately no," and another declaring: "This feels like the beginning of a good horror movie." And as one put it: "Does this come with free invisible friends who only appear at night?" But Berken told Newsweek: "While I don't associate spirits with hauntings or jump scares, if there is any presence here, it's all positive energy and love. "Though, I will admit, we've had a few large items mysteriously disappear!" Her quickly-growing audience has helped her learn some of the history of the house, with Berken revealing she had connected with a woman who had grown up in the house when her father ran the funeral home. "She shared childhood stories of playing in the casket showroom and her memories of the house, which has made me love it even more." Singer-Songwriter Steps on AGT Stage—Not Prepared for America's Response

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A singer-songwriter has exploded in popularity overnight after acing an audition on the competition show America's Got Talent (AGT). Recording artist Mama Duke, 37, from Austin Texas, has been "making music and writing jingles for as far back as I remember," including making beats on pencil and paper aged 14, and performing her creations for her classmates. On June 17, she found herself on the stage of AGT, performing an original track for Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofía Vergara, and Mel B — and has become an instant viral hit. She called the AGT performance the "wildest mix of manifestation, hustle, and timing," having been performing and building her brand with the belief that "if I kept showing up as me, the right doors were bound to appear in front of me. "The moment the first audition opportunity landed in my lap, I knew that something must be brewing. Something as in some force or magic that was starting to surface. I could feel it." With plenty of songs under her belt, Duke decided on Feels So Good To Be You for her audition because she, like many who have since heard it, "knew I was sitting on a little bop." Her audition received four yeses and a standing ovation from both the judges and the thousands in the audience, with former Spice Girl Mel B declaring it was "already a hit." And commenters reacting to the clip on the America's Got Talent YouTube channel, viewed more than 580,000 times, agreed. Mama Duke speaks during her America's Got Talent audition, and right, Simon Cowell takes part in the standing ovation. THIS IS A PERFORMANCE," one wrote, as another asked "how on earth is this not a golden buzzer moment?" referencing the shortcut judges can use to put contestants through to the next round regardless of other judges' verdicts. "If radio stations start playing this, it will become an instant hit. Very fresh, very catchy, amazing voice," one said, as another agreed Duke is the "complete package." Duke told Newsweek it "feels like I won the lottery," and that overnight it appears she received "a platform to talk about my ideas and dreams without sounding crazy. That's what things like this do for artists like me. Gives us leverage to push for the things we've always known we deserve." She revealed that musician and record producer Ester Dean, who has written hits for the likes of Rihanna and Beyoncé, "slid into my DMs to congratulate me," which has been incredible as Duke has "looked up to her pen game for a while." Mama Duke performs her original track Feels So Good To Be You, as judge Sofía Vergara gets into the music. America's Got Talent/ NBC Ten days after her audition, Feels So Good To Be You has almost 700,000 streams—ten times the number of her second biggest song. While Duke brought the house down with her track, to the point many are predicting superstardom for her career, she admits that although she appeared "confident and present and very much settled into myself," she almost doesn't remember the experience. "It's the weirdest thing! It's a feeling that a lot of people won't be able to understand unless you're standing on that stage in front of 4,000 people—and four of those people being the most important folks you'll ever audition for in my life." "You don't know nerves like these nerves," she said, "but somehow I found my confidence on stage and settled in." "I'll be chasing that high for the rest of my life, that's for sure." AGT airs weekly on Tuesdays, and sees the contestants who made it through the auditions battle it out in live shows to stay in the competition, with the winner receiving a $1 million prize.
