Teledyne GFD Partners with Industrial Detection Solutions to localise manufacturing in KSA - Middle East Business News and Information
Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection (Teledyne GFD) is supporting its business presence in the Middle East by partnering with Industrial Detection Solutions (IDS) to establish a new 699 m² manufacturing facility in Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). This partnership will enable the local production of high-precision sensors for detecting toxic and combustible gases, helping to protect workers and assets at oil and gas production/drilling facilities, LNG/CNG plants, and refining and petrochemical sites. A grand opening ceremony will officially declare the plant open on June19th, 2025. Gas detection is an essential safety aspect throughout the oil and gas industry. With so much activity in the Middle East, Teledyne GFD wanted to bring the production of key gas detection solutions closer to their point of use. This strategy also aligns with the IKTVA (In-Kingdom Total Value Add) programme that promotes local manufacturing in KSA. IKTVA is an initiative to increase economic diversification and create a sustainable ecosystem in KSA's oil and gas industry. The programme aims to increase the use of in-Kingdom suppliers, expand local supply chain capabilities and capacities, and drive industry collaboration through supplier development. By partnering with Industrial Detection Solutions, Teledyne GFD will help to meet the ambitions of the IKTVA via the local manufacture of popular products like its DM-700 toxic gas sensor, and FP-700 and IR-700 combustible gas sensors. 'Our new partnership with Industrial Detection Solutions ensures that manufacturing is closer to both customers and suppliers, enabling even faster delivery of class-leading gas detection products in support of more efficient supply chains,' says Thomas Moeller, VP Sales & Marketing at Teledyne GFD. 'The proven solutions manufactured in KSA will better serve a vast regional industry that recognises the importance of a robust and prevalent safety culture. We are proud to be part of KSA's remarkable ongoing journey of economic and industrial growth, and we look forward to a successful future together.' The DM-700 is a non-intrusive 'smart' sensor that detects and monitors oxygen and toxic gases in the air using electrochemical sensor technology. The intelligent, plug-in, field-replaceable cell automatically recognises gas type and range. Teledyne GFD's FP-700 is also a non-intrusive 'smart' sensor, this time for the detection and monitoring of combustible gases over the range of 0-100% LEL using catalytic bead sensor technology. The IR-700 is a similar solution for combustible hydrocarbon gases. It uses miniature non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) optical sensor technology to detect and monitor gases over the range of 0-100% LEL. All of these gas detectors support maximum safety with an innovative design that virtually eliminates sensor failure due to water ingress, corrosion, vibration or transient spikes.

Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection put hydrogen detection solutions in the spotlight at a trio of recent events.
Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection (Teledyne GFD) made its final preparations for a trio of major energy sector events that took place in Europe and Asia. Visitors to the Teledyne GFD booth at All Energy 2025 in Glasgow (UK, 14-15 May), the World Hydrogen Summit 2025 in Rotterdam (Netherlands, 20-22 May), and the World Gas Congress 2025 in Beijing (China, 19-23 May) learned about the advantages of leveraging sector knowledge and solutions developed over decades of empowering safety in power generation. A key focus at these events was Teledyne GFD's expertise and technologies in hydrogen detection. At All-Energy 2025, the UK's largest low-carbon energy and renewables event, Teledyne GFD highlighted hydrogen as a critical area, especially regarding grid integration and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The company explained how hydrogen can be produced in BESS systems during battery charging and discharging, or if a fault leads to thermal runaway—a process that can result in fire but can be contained with the right detection technology. On stand B39, Teledyne GFD showcased four main technologies: The newly introduced Spyglass™ Xtend triple-infrared flame detector, which simultaneously detected hydrogen and hydrocarbon fires, improving safety in environments where hydrogen flames could spread to other systems. The detector featured integrated high-definition CCTV for clear imaging of fuel fires and a near-IR video option for hydrogen and methanol fires, making it suitable for BESS applications. The proven GD10P infrared gas detector. The GS700-Hydrogen, a high-performance, flexible instrument capable of detecting both hydrogen and natural gas. This portable, ATEX-certified device simplified leak detection and other applications, helping utilities quickly identify gas leaks and reduce unnecessary costs. Teledyne GDCloud™, a new cloud solution that enhanced gas detection measurement by recording hazardous events, visualizing sensor readings, and mapping technician routes for improved regulatory compliance and safety program efficiency. These four technologies were also featured at the World Hydrogen Summit 2025, where Teledyne GFD was present at booth A93. The company's expertise in hydrogen was further recognized with an invitation to deliver a presentation titled 'Regulatory Framework and Compliance along the Hydrogen Value Chain.' At the World Gas Congress 2025, a flagship event held every three years, Teledyne GFD presented the same technologies at booth Z12 in hall D. Local experts were available to discuss current and future gas detection challenges with attendees. Demonstrating its global reach, Teledyne GFD also exhibited at two events in the United States during May: the American Gas Association (AGA) 2025 in Aurora, Colorado, and the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2025 in Houston, Texas.
