Telangana has become ‘ATM for Scamgress': BRS MLA KT Rama Rao lashes out at CM Revanth Reddy, Congress
"Telangana has become an ATM for Scamgress and it's been now corroborated by agencies As the ED charge sheets Telangana "Bag Man" in National Herald case, he is trying his best to distract the people's attention from his corrupt practices. The million dollar question is whether the NDA Govt will act this time or pardon Revant Reddy as they've done in the case of Amrut Scam, RR Tax and Civil supplies scam," Rao stated in a post on X and added screenshots of newspaper reports related to National Herald case.
"Why is Rahul Gandhi silent on National Herald issue?... One of your Chief Ministers, along with you, has been named in the chargesheet as the accused... The Chief Minister of Telangana and also the Dy CM of Karnataka have been named as people who facilitated money transactions into the National Herald and Young India account..." Ro said today.
On Wednesday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) began its opening arguments before Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court regarding the cognisance of its prosecution complaint against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and others in connection with a money laundering case related to the National Herald.
During the submissions, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) S.V. Raju argued that the case clearly establishes an offence of money laundering. He asserted that there were identifiable proceeds of crime and that ongoing criminal activity had facilitated the generation of these proceeds, thereby constituting the offence.
Following the arguments presented by ASG Raju and ED Special Counsel Zoheb Hosain, Special Judge Vishal Gogne scheduled the case for day-to-day hearings from July 2 to July 8 to continue deliberations on the cognisance of the ED's complaint against the Gandhis and other accused individuals.
The court scheduled the matter for July after considering submissions from the defence counsel, who requested a July hearing due to the extensive volume of documents involved, totalling 5,000 pages.

BRS urges Telangana HC to step in over recurring food poisoning incidents in residential schools
HYDERABAD The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has urged the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court to take suo motu cognisance of the recurring incidents of food poisoning in residential schools across Telangana. The appeal comes in the wake of 111 students from the Jyotiba Phule Backward Classes Welfare Residential School for Girls in Uyyalawada, Nagarkurnool district, being hospitalised on Sunday. BRS leader T. Harish Rao, who visited the school along with party leaders Marri Janardhan Reddy, C. Laxma Reddy, Guvvala Balaraju and others, interacted with students and parents at the hospital. He expressed concern that such a serious incident had occurred in Chief Minister Reddy's home district, despite the CM also holding the Education portfolio. 'When the government can spend ₹1 lakh for a meal during the Miss World beauty pageant, why can't it provide safe food to students in residential schools,' Rao questioned. He further criticised the government for what he termed as a political vendetta, asking if erasing the legacy of former CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao meant neglecting students to the extent of illness and even death. Not a day goes by without distressing news about residential school students, he said, adding that while the government has been talking about integrated schools for the past 20 months, not a single one has yet been established. Rao said that repeated incidents of food poisoning in government residential schools were eroding public trust, leading to a drop in admissions as parents were increasingly reluctant to send their children to such institutions. He urged the Chief Minister to introspect and take immediate steps to improve conditions, at the very least, by ensuring hygienic living environments and safe, nutritious food for students. He also interacted with students at the school and blamed the ongoing issues on the government's negligence and administrative failure, pointing out that such incidents have been frequently reported across the State over the past 20 months. He alleged that authorities rushed students to the hospital only after learning about the BRS team's visit, and in some cases, children were treated under trees on the school campus itself, making them hold IV fluid bottles in their hands. He further claimed that over 100 students have died in residential schools during this period, even as he underscored the urgent need for intervention.

Vide the said order, the trial court had turned down an application moved by Swamy seeking to summon certain witnesses to prove documents in the case. The HC had on February 22, 2021, stayed "the proceedings before the trial court against the petitioner (Swamy)". This put the brakes on the trial in the predicate offence in the lower court. As first reported by ET in April this year, since March 16, 2021, till March 1 this year, the case in trial court was adjourned 18 times. Live Events On Monday, Swamy's plea is coming up for a resumed hearing. Significantly, the hearing comes a day before a special PMLA court is to pronounce its verdict on whether to take cognisance of a prosecution complaint filed by the ED against Sonia Gandhi , Rahul Gandhi and five others for their alleged involvement in the National Herald newspaper case. The trial in the main case (predicate offence) will resume if Swamy withdraws his petition from the high court on Monday.

Shabbir calls for Bahujan unity
Hyderabad: State govt advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Sunday called upon the Bahujan communities to stand strongly in support of the Congress to save the Constitution from the efforts being made to allegedly change it on the lines of 'Manusmriti'. Addressing the 'Bahujan Alai-Balai' programme in Kamareddy organised by the All India Ambedkar Yuvajana Sangham, he said it is the foremost responsibility of the Bahujan samaj to protect the Constitution. The BJP's slogan of 'Ab ki baar 400 paar' was countered by Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra. "Those trying to change the Constitution and bring in 'Manusmriti' will not succeed as long as the Congress is there and Bahujans stand behind the party. For the first time in the country, the Congress govt is going to implement 42% BC reservations in the local bodies," he said.
