This week on 'Laughter Chefs Unlimited Entertainment,' the kitchen turned into a cultural fest as Debina Bonnerjee and
Gurmeet Choudhary
dropped by with a heartfelt request and a whole lot of sweetness! Known as the couple goals, the duo lit up the stage with their charm, spoke about their upcoming reality show 'Pati Patni Aur Panga-Jodiyon Ka Reality Check', and brought a slice of Bengal to the most entertaining kitchen in India.
What followed was a celebration of flavour, fun, and fiery competition.
As Debina expressed her love for Bengali cuisine, she requested Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi to include a Bengali dish in the challenge, something that had only been featured once before on the show. True to his 'Atithi Devo Bhava' spirit, Chef Harpal said yes, and the kitchen lit up with the aroma of an iconic Bengali mithai, Fish-shaped Sondesh Kheer Kodom, becoming a battleground for creativity and chaos.
With the passion of a seasoned home chef and the pride of a Bengali daughter, Debina became the torchbearer of tradition, guiding the celebrity jodis with charm and chatter, peppered with Bengali anecdotes, tips, and hands-on demos. Gurmeet, beaming with pride, cheered her on like a true partner-in-crime. Adding their own spicy twist, Krushna Abhishek and Kashmera Shah cooked up an 'extra fish', hilariously declaring it a good-luck charm for Debina and Gurmeet's upcoming show 'Pati Patni Aur Panga'.
As the laughter rose and mithai melted hearts, the contestants served up a joy-drenched episode where flavours battled it out and bonds were baked anew. But in a kitchen where nothing is ever as simple as it seems, will the sweetest dish win, or will it all end in a fishy fiasco?
Talking about her experience on the show, Debina shared, 'Laughter Chefs is honestly one of our favourite shows to watch as a family. Gurmeet and I love the madness and warmth it brings—it feels like you're part of the fun even from your living room. When I realised Bengali cuisine had only been featured once, I just had to bring that up. For us Bengalis, food is an extension of our stories, emotions, and culture. I requested Chef Harpal to include a Bengali dish, and he agreed without hesitation! When he announced 'Fish-shaped Sondesh Kheer Kodom' as the challenge, I was thrilled.
What made it even more special was sharing our tradition with everyone on set. And now, with Pati Patni Aur Panga, this feels like the perfect start to the celebrations—we're bringing our real chemistry to your screens very soon!'

Prosenjit Chatterjee apologises after backlash for insulting Bengali language: ‘It was a misunderstanding'

Actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, who will soon be seen in Maalik, found himself in soup for his comments at the trailer launch event of the film a week ago. The actor chided a journalist at the event for asking him a question in Bengali, which did not sit well with many on social media. The actor has now addressed the backlash, saying that he had no intention to demean or insult the Bengali language. Prosenjit Chatterjee has issued an apology to his fans for his recent remark. (Photo by SUJIT JAISWAL / AFP)(AFP) Prosenjit issues an apology In a new statement that was posted on his Instagram account, Prosenjit wrote in Bengali, 'In the last few days, something that I said, a sentence of mine, has created quite a stir. I am here to talk about it. I have been working in Bengali for the last 42 years. In the last few years, there have been opportunities for me to work at a national level, and in lieu of that, I was present at the trailer launch of Maalik in Juhu PVR for a media interaction. Whoever from the cast and crew was present on stage was mainly interacting in English. A journalist from Bengal asked me a question in Bengali. I have known that person for a long time. But at that time, I felt that if I replied in Bengali, then the others wouldn't be able to understand what I was saying, because there were many who did not know the language. That is why I asked what was the point in asking the question in Bengali?' 'I understand that my words have hurt many of you' The note further read, 'Now that the specific sentence of mine has been shared, there have been many who are hurt by it. I am also hurt, I am still hurting. Because I did not anticipate the response to my statement. Perhaps I was not able to state my perspective with the use of some English words. I think it was a misunderstanding that started from there. Because I cannot even imagine of insulting my mother tongue even in my worst nightmares. Bengali is the language of my life and love. Bengali is the language of my soul, the language of my love. But the judgment of Bengali people has always been paramount to me, and it always will be, till my last breath. Lastly, I must say that I understand that my words have hurt many of you, and for that, I am sorry. I have shared with you the context and my thoughts of the situation.' Prosenjit plays a pivotal role in Maalik, which also stars Rajkummar Rao and Manushi Chillar. The action drama is all set to hit screens on July 11.

Avirup's Canadian debut blends tribute, tradition and touching reunion

Odissi dancer Avirup's Canadian journey was marked by memorable performances, including tributes to Satyajit Ray and Rituparna Sengupta, witnessed by notable actors. He was felicitated for his contributions to classical arts and cross-cultural dialogue. Odissi dancer Avirup's recent journey to Canada was a memorable one, marking his third international stage performance at a major cultural event and his first-ever visit to the country. He opened the festivities with a tribute to legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray, performing the timeless song 'Aha Ki Anondo Akashe Batase.' The performance was witnessed by actors Swastika Mukherjee, Paoli, and Parambrata Chatterjee, adding to the evening's charm. The closing ceremony was equally moving, where Avirup presented a soulful Durga Stuti and paid homage to Rituparna Sengupta through her film songs, sung by Riddhi Bandopadhyay. The narration by Reshmi Mitra added an evocative depth, making the segment one of the most appreciated of the evening. Avirup's felicitation at the event was a proud moment, recognizing his contributions to the classical arts and cross-cultural dialogue. "However, beyond the stage, it was a deeply personal experience that left a lasting impression on me — reuniting with my former student, Rishita. Having started learning Odissi from me at just six years old, Rishita is now doing well in Canada. Her heartfelt gesture of taking me to Niagara Falls despite her busy schedule is something I will remember," said Avirup. From celebrating icons of Bengali culture to reconnecting with students and soaking in Canadian beauty, Avirup's trip was a rich blend of performance, nostalgia, and personal joy.
