Post gangster killing, hospitals told to strengthen security

Time of India2 days ago
Patna: Following the murder of gangster Chandan Mishra inside a private hospital, superintendent of police (east) Parichay Kumar on Monday held a meeting with hospital representatives and reviewed the security arrangements.
Around 50 to 60 hospital representatives attended the meeting.
The SP gave necessary instructions, which included installation of HHMD (hand held metal detector) and high-resolution CCTV cameras, to strengthen the security on hospital premises. "The objective of the meeting is to further improve the security arrangements in the hospitals," he said. Additionally, various issues raised by the hospital management were listened to seriously, and assurances were given for their appropriate resolution.
Kumar said the hospitals need to increase the CCTV camera coverage to also capture roads, with a proper control room, to keep tabs on all the happenings. "If any suspicious activity is detected, inform the police or the local police stations. They should also display the contact numbers of the local police stations, SDPOs and SPs on the hospital premises," he said.
"In case of any medico-legal cases or if a criminal is admitted to hospital for treatment, the administration should inform the local police station.

These instructions were issued, and hospitals assured compliance. They mentioned employing security guards and following all guidelines provided. The HHMD should be used by all the hospitals to detect any weapons or illegal items while screening the patients, their attendants, and the visitors at the hospital," the SP said.
The main instruction is for effective access control, particularly checking people, patients, their attendants, and any suspicious person, he said.
Police have stepped up security and keeping an eye on hospitals after the paroled criminal Chandan Mishra was gunned down at a private hospital on Bailey Road in Patna on July 17. The police suspect security lapses and involvement of security personnel in helping the accused easily enter the hospital building and the patient's room.

'I married Ishita, but she was Afreen': UP man alleges forced conversion bid by Chhangur Baba; claims daughters were threatened, ATS probes Balrampur cleric's 'rate list'

BHADOHI: A man has accused Chhangur Baba, also known as Jamaluddin, of 'brainwashing' him and threatening to kill his two daughters in an attempt to force him to convert to Islam, police said. According to officials, Jamaluddin—who hails from Balrampur—allegedly targeted individuals from various communities and maintained a 'rate list' for religious conversions. He was arrested earlier this month by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad. Jyotirgmay Rai (35) has alleged that he was brainwashed by Chhangur Baba and later threatened with the murder of his two daughters in an attempt to force him to convert to Islam. Rai's complaint, submitted to Additional Director General of Police Piyush Mordia on Tuesday, has triggered an investigation. Bhadohi superintendent of police Abhimanyu Mangalik confirmed that a probe is underway. According to Rai, he married a woman he knew as Ishita through an Arya Samaj ceremony, only to later discover her real name was Afreen and that she belonged to a Muslim family. Tensions reportedly escalated after the birth of their second daughter in March 2024, when Afreen's family allegedly began pressuring Rai to convert to Islam. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 15 most beautiful women in the world Undo "Rai claims that Afreen left with their daughters for Lucknow in November 2024. When he followed them, he was allegedly threatened and subjected to brainwashing by Chhangur Baba. He has also claimed that he was asked to convert to Islam while his daughters were held at knifepoint," said the SP. After working in Lucknow from December 2024 to April 2025, Rai returned to Bhadohi without converting and filed a petition before the high court seeking his children's custody. "A police team has been deployed to investigate the matter," said the superintendent of police.
