Noel and Liam Gallagher rally to protect mum as fans flock to Manchester house

Noel and Liam Gallagher have hired security to protect their mother's house as fans flock to their childhood home ahead of the Manchester tour dates tonight and this weekend
Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher have hired security to protect their mother's house as Oasis fans flock to Manchester. The brothers are returning home to Heaton Park for the second set of dates of their reunion tour.
As fans flock to Manchester ahead of the Heaton Park gigs, they have been making a pit stop at the band's childhood home. Noel and Liam's mum Peggy still lives in their childhood home, having refused to leave the house.

Fans have been spotted on the street and taking snaps outside the home and visit a piece of Oasis history. However, in order to protect their mum Peggy, Noel and Liam have hired security.

In new photos, a guard is seen standing outside the house and patrolling the street, as fans gathered to take selfies and photos outside the infamous property which was once home to the Gallagher brothers.

In a new interview, Noel opened up about the global appeal of the band, where he explained why the group is both loved by those who grew up with them and those who were not around for their first round of success.
"A new generation recognises how Oasis wasn't manufactured. It was chaotic, and flawed, and not technically brilliant. We were rough and ready guys from a rehearsal room, and people recognised it," he explains.

Speaking about their music, he said: "I didn't invent anything. I had good taste in music, a cool record collection, I could write a melody simple enough to make it work, and it was 50% inspiration and 50% copying."
At their first gigs in Cardiff, fans watched on as the brothers reunited for the first time on stage in well over a decade. The brothers walked out on stage at Principality Stadium to deafening cheers from the crowd.

Walking to the stage with their song "F**king in the Bushes" playing, they wasted no time as they performed their hit "Hello." Thousands of pints were thrown into the air as the sold out crowd celebrated the band being back together.
"Hey, beautiful people, it's been too long," Liam said as he addressed the crowd before performing their 1995 mega-hit, Morning Glory. In true Liam style, he made a cheeky remark to the crowd, joking: "I see you're all on the glue still down there!"

Liam also claimed last year he was the one to wave the olive branch in terms of them getting back together. He said: "I called him but don't tell anyone as I don't want folk thinking I'm a soft lad and stuffs keep it between me n you cheers."

Ruth Carr fan lands amazing £96,000 bet on day to remember for Yorkshire trainer

The Coral customer from Huddersfield put four of the trainer's runners in a £1 Lucky 15 which all won, including a 28-1 winner at Goodwood A fan of Yorkshire trainer Ruth Carr has collected £96,000 after pulling off an extraordinary accumulator bet featuring four of her horses. ‌ Stillington-based Carr sent five runners to the races on Tuesday, three to Beverley and two to Sussex for the opening day of the Glorious Goodwood Festival. Not only did four of them win, including Brazen Bolt at odds of 28-1 in the valuable Shaker Handicap, but a Coral customer from Huddersfield had included the horses in a £1 Lucky 15. ‌ Star Start got the bet under way by dead-heating in the first leg at Beverley, then Brazen Bolt scored under Warren Fentiman, before Joanna Mason rode a double for the stable on Jojo Rabbit and King Sharja at Beverley. The betting shop punter's total winnings came to £96,052.50. ‌ 'Our punter from Huddersfield is clearly a big Ruth Carr fan, and their confidence in the Yorkshire-based trainer paid dividends on Tuesday, as they scooped just over 96k after including all four winners in a Lucky 15,' said Coral's John Hill. 'Carr's biggest-priced winner came at Glorious Goodwood, with Brazen Bolt struck in the sprint handicap at odds of 28-1. It was a day to remember for the trainer, and arguably an even bigger day for the Huddersfield-based customer.' Carr said: 'Well done that person. I'm pretty sure we haven't had a four-timer before. It takes some doing. You never go down into a big sprint handicap down south at a Festival meeting full of confidence. 'But the horse had been in good form, his back form was there as well. We took a valuable 5lb off, he got a straightforward ride and the old boy got the job done.' Find out more here. Carr did not travel to Goodwood for, preferring Beverley, where she has now trained eight winners in 2025. 'It's a long way and there are 40 other horses at home to train,' she said. 'I rode out and then went to Beverley which is just up the road. 'The horses are healthy and we appear to be getting in the right races. Luck is going our way and sometimes somebody else's bad luck is your good luck and we seem to be getting plenty of the good luck at the moment.'

Remembering when Oasis welcomed 80,000 people to Loch Lomond for epic gigs

Oasis have begun their reunion tour and will play three shows at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium on August 8, 9 and 12, their first in Scotland since 2009 Oasis have officially kicked off their long-awaited reunion tour, thrilling fans with their performances down south. The Britpop legends, fronted by Liam and Noel Gallagher, head to Scotland soon to perform three nights at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium on August 8, 9, and 12. The shows will mark the band's first appearance in Scotland since 2009, when they last played Murrayfield as part of their Dig Out Your Soul tour. That performance came just months before the group's dramatic and widely publicised split. Now reunited, the Gallaghers are bringing Oasis back to Scottish soil, and expectations are already sky-high among fans. The band's return to Murrayfield holds special significance, not only because of the long hiatus, but because it was also the venue of their final Scottish show before disbanding. While the 2009 gig was a standout moment for many, it's the band's 1996 shows at Loch Lomond that remain etched in the country's musical history. At the height of their fame, Oasis performed two massive concerts at Balloch Country Park on the shores of Loch Lomond on August 3 and 4, 1996, drawing an estimated 80,000 fans across the two nights. Those shows were part of their What's the Story (Morning Glory)? tour and are still considered by many to be some of the most iconic live performances in UK music history. With ticketless fans scaling fences and sneaking past security, the real crowd numbers may have exceeded official figures. Here are some pictures that show the craze of Oasis in 1996.
