10 drought-tolerant plants you can get from B&Q for as little as £2.99 – they survive extreme heat & look pretty too

IT looks like the hot weather is going nowhere.
And while we might be loving it, our gardens aren't as big of a fan.
Especially as our plants and grass aren't just tackling the heat, they're also struggling with a lack of rainfall, and hosepipe bans are put in place.
Fortunately, there are plenty of plants that can withstand the harsh conditions.
And you can get them for as little as £2.99 so you won't have to spend a fortune replacing any dead ones.
B&Q 's Outdoor Expert, Mark Sage says: 'When the temperature rises, choose plants that not only survive in the heat, but thrive in it - think 'right plant, right place'.
"Mediterranean favourites like lavender, catmint, and Echinacea are great to include in your garden, along with rosemary, which is always a welcome addition to the kitchen too. These plants are perfect for sunny spots, having evolved with adaptions such as deep roots, hairy foliage, water conserving oils in their leaves, or succulent textures that conserve moisture.
"In the first year, the plants will need regular, deep watering to help them establish themselves in the garden, but once settled they flourish on minimal watering. To boost resilience, try adding organic mulch or homemade compost before hot spells to retain soil moisture and suppress any weeds.
"With the right soil, sun, and a layer of mulch, these plants will bring vibrant, low-maintenance beauty to your garden all summer long.'

Vogue Williams flaunts her enviable figure as she poses with equally fit husband Spencer Matthews on a family holiday to Spain

Vogue Williams and Spencer Matthews looked every inch a power fitness couple as they showed off their incredible bodies on a family holiday to Spain. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Vogue, 39, shared a series of snaps from the getaway, including a picture of her and Spencer in swimwear that showcased their hard work at the gym in all its glory. Spencer, 36, who ran 30 marathons in 30 days in 2024, looked more shredded than ever as he smiled in swimming trunks with an arm around his wife. Vogue, meanwhile, put her slender figure on full display in a tiny cow print bikini that she accessorised with a number of necklaces and sunglasses. She wrote: 'Week one complete… we always love coming down here during the summer. 'Feels like a second home and I have finally remembered my way around, only took 20 years.' In another snap, the pair posed for a selfie and also shared some sweet family pictures with their three children - Theo, six, Gigi, four, and Otto, two. Fans of the presenter and reality star were quick to praise their good looks and send their good wishes for the remainder of their holiday. They wrote: 'All looking fab. Happy Holidays.'; 'Beautiful couple, role models to your children.'; 'Gorgeous family photos and I hope you're enjoying yourselves too xx' This is not the first insight that Vogue has shared with fans since arriving for the trip and last week she admitted that she had been 'counting down the days' to the getaway. The holiday comes after Vogue revealed in May that she often feels 'mum guilt' when she is away from her children working. Speaking on The Life of Bryony podcast, she said that like many mums, she has put pressure on herself to 'do and be everything'. This is not the first insight that Vogue has shared with fans since arriving for the trip and last week she admitted that she had been 'counting down the days' to the getaway Vogue said: 'I suffer from mum guilt all the time. 'I feel guilty when I am working, and I feel guilty when I am with my kids. I worry when I spend more time with one of them and not the others. 'I spend a lot of time with Theodore and Gigi because I take them places – so I have to create time to spend with Otto on his own. 'I think as women we put so much pressure on ourselves to be able to do and be everything. Going out there and working should be great for your children to see. 'Whether you're a working mum or staying at home, I think you're always going to feel some level of guilt. 'When realistically, you can't do it all.'

I sold my house to live mortgage-free in a double decker BUS – I did the renovations myself & only paid £18k to buy it

GETTING on the property ladder can be expensive - so many people are looking for creative alternatives instead. One woman has revealed how she snapped up a double decker bus to live in for just £18,000 - and it allows her to travel the UK too. 2 2 Given that the average UK house price for December 2024 was £268,087, her unusual dwelling was an absolute steal when she got it in 2023. Lindzi, 38, shared how poignantly she had wanted to be a bus driver when she was a child, and had no idea that her dream would semi come true with her bus buy. On her @lindziadhd account, she shared: 'After selling my house, I decided to buy this—a double decker bus. I always had this crazy idea that one day I'd live on a bus. 'So, without much experience in DIY, I began the massive task of renovating it. I just kinda got stuck in there, doing whatever I could do.' Not only is the bus an adventurous place to live, but also facilitates her mobile book swap business too. Lindzi explained: 'The overall plan is to live upstairs, and downstairs be a community space and a book bus. 'This project has already been filled with absolute blood, sweat, and tears. But I've always been the type of person that, if I want to do something—if I've got my mind set on something—then I just go for it.' She shared how part of the renovation work included adding a stove inside the bus, as well as decorating it with homely touches. She also had to pass her Class C driver licence so she could take it on trips, and the bus passed its MOT in May this year. Lindzi shared on her video, which has racked up over 322,000 views, how she has already taken the bus to a number of festivals and is loving life on the road. I bought a dated caravan & turned it into my family's very own second home for £4.5k - now we holiday for just £10 a day One of the only drawbacks is fuel cost, and she estimated that it costs her £100 for 150 miles. ‘I've been known to eat a punnet in one sitting': eight superfans on the best ways to enjoy British strawberries

Conjuring visions of sunny days at Wimbledon, decadent desserts and wholesome homemade jams, British strawberries simply can't be beaten when summer rolls around. No wonder they were among Ocado's bestselling products last summer and, as these shoppers can attest, they're reclaiming their starring role this year … 'When Ocado strawberries are in season, you know it's summer. I love them because they're always perfectly round and sweet, and the beautiful red colour always looks so appetising. My favourite way to eat them is to make my favourite dessert, which is Eton mess. Delicious!' 'I always buy Ocado strawberries – as a family of five, we receive two Ocado deliveries a week and I order four boxes of strawberries in each as we all want to enjoy them. My local fruit shop is fab, but I prefer Ocado strawberries because they're so sweet, a good size and great value. I love them for snacking on, and my son's very healthy so, post-gym, he enjoys grazing on them rather than being tempted by more processed snacks. That way they help him meet his fitness goals. We all nibble from the fridge and I put them in fruit bowls for dessert. They're so sweet, you can enjoy them just on their own.' 'We buy Ocado strawberries regularly – they're firm but sweet and always fresh. Although I shop at a range of supermarkets, I have to buy strawberries from Ocado because I like knowing I can trust their quality. If I'm making something for guests or a special occasion, I know they can be relied on. At home, we enjoy them for a healthy snack after school and in smoothies. The strawberries are so good, they can disappear in minutes, courtesy of my four children!' 'Like most of its products, Ocado's strawberries are often better quality than most other supermarkets – especially now, when best-before dates have been removed from a lot of fresh produce. I mainly buy strawberries because my children love them, and they make for a great snack or dessert that's high in vitamin C. My kids also like to use them to decorate waffles and pancakes, which is an easy way to involve them with preparing their own food, teach them about nutrition and to avoid unhealthy sugary snacks. With picky eaters like mine, it works better if the strawberries look and taste great, which is why Ocado's consistent quality matters.' 'I try to buy seasonal fruit and veg so I always go for Ocado strawberries at this time of year – they taste so delicious right now. I use them for breakfast, to make smoothies or to top a bowl of yoghurt and homemade granola. We also like to take them on picnics, and I give them to my son with kefir yoghurt for a healthier pudding.' 'I'm a private chef who specialises in healthy cooking, so strawberries are a daily essential for me – and of course, they're even better when they're in season. I've been an Ocado shopper for two decades, and I find the big punnet of strawberries great value, especially when you compare it with other brands. They also last really well if treated gently. Both my clients and I love huge, mixed-fruit and yoghurt bowls dotted with a variety of nuts and seeds and a sprinkle of cinnamon or cocoa nibs. Strawberries are also essential for plopping into prosecco and summer cocktails, so I bring them to lots of park picnics. Recently, I've even been experimenting with dehydrated strawberries at home, to make chewy snacks.' 'I absolutely love using Ocado, especially to help keep my fridge stocked up with strawberries. When you have a two-year-old, you have to keep the berries coming. Ocado strawberries are always fresh, sweet and last well, which is a must in this house. I use them in all sorts of ways, but I especially love them sliced over Greek yoghurt and drizzled with honey. They pair perfectly with my homemade gluten-free banana pancakes, which is my daughter's favourite breakfast. And for me, it has got to be Ocado strawberries with a lovely cold glass of champagne. Whether it's for everyday snacks, weekend brunches or something a little more indulgent, they are a staple in my kitchen.' 'Ocado's strawberries are amazing quality – really plump, flavoursome and juicy. I've been known to eat my way through a punnet in one sitting, because they're so moreish. Usually, though, I'll have them sliced on to crepes or as part of a traditional fruit salad, which is one of my favourite desserts – it's so refreshing, especially at this time of year.' Shop Ocado's lusciously sweet strawberries – a celebration of summer
