All eyes on Hyderabad as curtain goes up on Miss World today
As directed by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, all the required arrangements, including foolproof security apparatus, have been put in place for the opening ceremony of the global beauty pageant, which the city of pearls is hosting for the first time.
The much-awaited ceremony will be kicked off by popular singer Ramachari Komanduri, accompanied by a team of 50 artists, rendering the Telangana State Song, Jaya Jaya He Telangana — penned by poet Ande Sri and composed by Oscar-winner MM Keeravani — in the midst of Perni Natyam by as many as 250 female dancers.
A total of 109 contestants, who are staying at the Trident Hotel, are busy preparing for a series of exciting events and competitions to be held across the city in the coming days. They are ready to showcase their beauty and talent at some of the finest venues in the city, including Shilpakala Vedika, Gachibowli Stadium and Hitex Exhibition Centre.
These contestants arrived in the city between May 3 and May 9 to a warm welcome with the local organisers performing a special aarti and applying tilak (vermilion) on their foreheads, amidst performances by Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Perni, Kathak and other traditional dancers.
The contestants will be taking part in a heritage walk around the iconic Charminar and Laad Bazaar on May 13.
All the 109 contestants are thrilled with the welcome they received in the city and are looking forward to the upcoming events with excitement.

Aamir Khan Returns To Lagaan Village In Bhuj, Says ‘Cinema Should Reach These Areas'

After 25 years, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan finally returned to Bhuj, Gujarat, specifically the village of Kotai, where his Oscar-winning film Lagaan was shot. The actor revisited the same village for a special screening of his film Sitaare Zameen Par. The special screening was a part of a heartfelt initiative by the actor to bring cinema closer to people. The film, which has already attained widespread recognition from the audience, is now available on YouTube under a pay-per-view model. Aamir Khan Holds First Ever Screening at Kotai Village As per ANI reports, Aamir Khan was seen getting nostalgic, returning to the place. Speaking to the outlet, Khan said, 'My memories of Lagaan got refreshed today." During the interview, Khan also reflected on the issue of scarcity of cinema halls in rural places of the country. 'The cinema should reach these areas. I wanted my new movie Sitaare Zameen. Par to reach every village in the nation," he stated, explaining the need to bring films closer to India's vast rural population. The 3 Idiots star further shared the importance of meaningful storytelling as well as accessible entertainment. 'This is the first-ever screening in Kotai village. Such screenings should happen in every village. It was my wish to conduct the first screening in Kachchh. This is a historic place. I have so many memories, and I felt very happy after revisiting," the actor added. Oscar winner A R Rahman, who is also the uncle of music director G V Prakash, and ace director Sudha Kongara were among several film celebrities who congratulated music director G V Prakash on having won his second National Award for Vaathi. Soon after the winners of the 71st National Awards were announced on Wednesday, G V Prakash Kumar, who won the National Award for Best Music Direction (Songs) for the Tamil, Telugu bilingual film Vaathi, took to his X timeline to call the honour 'a blessing for the second time". G V Prakash had won his first National Award for director Sudha Kongara's 'Soorarai Pottru'. Responding to G V Prakash's statement on X, music director A R Rahman wrote, 'Wishing you many more ..Congratulations." G V Prakash, who had worked under A R Rahman for a while before turning music director, responded to Rahman's tweet, saying, 'Thanks a lot sir." Interestingly, G V Prakash, had in an interview earlier, disclosed that although he was Rahman's nephew, he would always address him as 'sir" with respect as he had worked under him. Director Sudha Kongara too congratulated G V Prakash on his second National Award. Taking to Instagram, she posted a picture of herself with G V Prakash and wrote, 'Looooooong due my bestie buddy brother @gvprakash. So so awesome. here's to many many more! The music director also went on to specially thank actor Dhanush, who played the lead in Vaathi, and director Venky Atluri. He said, 'Special thanks to my brother Dhanush, who chose me for this film. Our continuous collaboration-from Polladhavan to Asuran, Vaathi, and Idly Kadai-has been creatively fulfilling and rewarding for both of us. A big thank you to my director Venky Atluri, who inspired me to give my best and trusted me with the music for this film."
