Our Yorkshire Farm's Reuben faces 'really bad' setback with girlfriend Jess
Our Yorkshire Farm's Reuben Owen encountered a "really bad" hiccup with his girlfriend Jess on Tuesday (July 8). The second series of Reuben's show, 'Reuben Owen: Life in the Dales', is currently gracing screens on Channel 5.
The docuseries captures Reuben as he develops his burgeoning heavy plant machinery enterprise amidst the stunning backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales, with his family and mates by his side. In the latest episode, the onset of spring brought a flurry of activity to the Dales.
The crew set out to tackle Reuben's hefty order of cropped stones, finishing a hundred tonnes by hand in an old quarry before heading to a local family-run stone merchant for some expert advice, reports the Manchester Evening News.
At the same time, Reuben's partner Jess was swamped with work due to the start of lambing season at her family's farm.
Trouble struck when Reuben and Jess, while navigating the fields, spotted a newborn lamb in urgent need of attention.
"I don't think that ewe is letting that lamb suck, she keeps turning when he's trying to suck," noted Jess.
They quickly examined the lamb to determine if it had been feeding properly and whether it required further care.
"This lamb was born about an hour ago, and he hasn't sucked. He's got cold and just laid and shivered. She hasn't really licked him either," Jess detailed as she tended to the lamb.
In a race against time, Jess and Reuben rushed to save a lamb as the distressed ewe's newborn desperately needed its first milk to survive. Reuben stressed the significance saying: "This will be the most important meal of his life."
Jess urgently pointed out that the lamb had to get the colostrum swiftly because it's packed with essential antibodies from the mother. Without it, she warned, the young one could fall prey to the potentially fatal watery mouth disease.
With palpable relief, Jess announced the success: "Once his belly's full then it'll be great. I was panicked because I thought if she goes in there with sixty sheep, they won't know who she is."
Reuben praised Jess for her quick thinking and lifesaving actions, affectionately praising: "That's another little life saved, well done darling."
After ensuring the lamb was well fed, Jess made sure it was dry and warm indoors, in preparation to rejoin the flock outdoors.

Coronation Street fans just learning beloved star has little-known talent
Coronation Street fans have been left amazed as they discovered something they 'didn't realise' about one of their favourite actors, and it turns out he has a hidden talent Coronation Street lovers have been floored after learning a little-known fact about one of the show's stars. Actor Andy Whyment has graced our screens for the past quarter-century as the endearing Kirk Sutherland, not counting his uncredited appearances. In fact, he made brief appearances on the ITV soap in 1990 and 1997, where he was simply referred to as Mark. He also had a minor role as Wayne, a man buying fireworks in The Kabin. It wasn't until the turn of the millennium in 2000 that Andy officially joined the regular cast as Kirk. However, it's Andy's recent adventures beyond the cobbles of Weatherfield that have set tongues wagging. The soap star was among the first to witness Noel and Liam Gallagher 's homecoming performance as they kicked off their five-show run at Heaton Park on Friday night (July 11), reports the Manchester Evening News. Oasis' sold-out series of hometown gigs, which will run until July 20, are expected to draw 340,000 fans from around the world to Manchester over the coming week. Thanks to his mate Shaun Ryder, Andy got to experience the Gallagher brothers' first Manchester gig since 2009. The Corrie star and Happy Mondays frontman struck up a friendship after appearing together on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here. But Andy Whyment's own musical talents have been thrust into the spotlight following a video that surfaced on r/coronationstreet, the home of Coronation Street fans on Reddit. Captioned: "Kirk doing a bit of singing," the video sparked a flurry of fan reactions. One exclaimed: "Well, now I want a few more karaoke nights at the Rovers!" Another remarked: "In all seriousness though, Andy's vocals are excellent! it would be brilliant imo if the show had a serious singing scene with Kirk and Glenda!" A third chimed in: "That was awesome!!!!" The clip was originally posted by @traveltradeinsider on Instagram: "Based on this impromptu performance by @andywhy36 while we were at the @f1 he should be the @oasis warm up. "What a talented individual, showing how to nail the @kingsofleon Use Somebody. Thinking we need @simoncowell to get him on Celebrity X Factor!" Andy responded to the buzz: "It's was a fantastic weekend mate, always love to get up and do a song or two when there is a microphone available." The Instagram post also drew in heaps of praise. @icedabullz_1 was impressed: "Wow didn't realise that Kirk can sing better than most singers out there." @mercer. jayne enthused: "Wow Kirky, bloody brilliant!" @nelliebarfoot complimented: "Wow brilliant voice. Great tune."

Jayne Torvill opens up on reason for 50-year bond with Christopher Dean after final show
Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have finished their farewell tour, Torvill and Dean: Our Last Dance, after four final performances in their home town of Nottingham Jayne Torvill has opened up about the secret to her enduring partnership with Christopher Dean following their emotional final performance together. The legendary ice skating duo, who captured the nation's heart with their Olympic gold at the 1984 Winter Games, decided to hang up their skates as a pair in 2024. After concluding their goodbye tour, Torvill and Dean: Our Last Dance, with four last shows in Nottingham, they reflected on the journey that started it all. Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Torvill, aged 67, said "It was all just very new for both of us. "As we skated together a few more times, I think we both realised that we both had a passion for it, and we both wanted to get better. Keep doing it, practice, get better. And I think that's what kept us going all these years. "I always say that we never got married, so that's why we are still best of friends and still love working together." Chris, now 66, added: "Never leave the ice with an argument though. We've grown up through all those stages of life, from 15-year-olds to 20-year-olds to 30-year-olds to marriages to children, retirement now. "We've done so much over the 50 years and seen so much together over the 50 years." The Dancing on Ice legends, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, have hung up their skates for the last time as a duo, 40 years after clinching the 1984 Olympic gold with their iconic Bolero routine in Sarajevo, reports the Manchester Evening News. As they embarked on the UK stretch of their goodbye tour this April, they performed Bolero one last time, with Chris hailing the crowd as "phenomenal" and expressing joy at being able to "bow out on a high". While this signifies the end of their joint performances, the pair assured fans they have other ventures lined up and will continue to stay connected. Chris revealed: "We'll meet up in London and go and watch a show at least once a month, something like that. We like mentoring. We'll work with other people. "I still really enjoy choreographing, so I hope to work with other skaters, and certainly other shows, other skating shows." Jayne added: "We've got other work things coming up, but not performing on the ice together. We are quite often invited to give talks at events and so on. "And normally we wouldn't have had time for that, but we'll have more time to do stuff like that."

Coronation Street's Mick star breaks silence as killer returns to cobbles
Coronation Street's Joe Layton addressed fans who reached out to him following his dramatic return to the ITV soap as it was confirmed that his character, Mick Michaelis, would be leaving the cobbles Coronation Street's Joe Layton has responded to the flood of messages he's received following his dramatic comeback to the cobbles, providing a lift amid news of his impending departure. Viewers of the ITV soap were under the impression that his character, Mick Michaelis, was securely locked up after being arrested for the savage murder of PC Craig Tinker back in May. However, during Monday's (July 14) episode of Corrie, the killer was seen making a daring escape from Weatherfield Prison in an attempt to reunite with his family, reports the Manchester Evening News. Mick was spotted crawling under a laundry van before later emerging onto the street, having been tipped off by Brody that Joanie was at Weatherfield High. When Brody, who is helping him escape, informs Mick - who has crawled under a laundry van before later appearing on the street - he shows up at the school. But Sally Metcalfe has already collected Joanie after the young girl is distressed by her peers' remarks about her parents, with Lou now also incarcerated for her assault on Gary Windass. Daniel Osbourne and Mrs Crawshaw are then taken aback when they come face to face with Mick, who insists they hand over Joanie. Upon learning that Joanie has left, Mick locks the pair in the office and makes a run for it. He soon heads for the street, where Sally is introducing Joanie to Underworld. With Kit now aware of Mick's escape, he's also on the chase and spots him heading towards the factory. Bursting into the factory to rescue Joanie, Mick took Tim and Sarah Platt hostage in the office. Kit was hot on his heels, and tensions soared as Mick realised that Joanie had been sneaked onto the roof by Sally in a desperate escape attempt. Sally could be seen attempting to soothe the young girl as pandemonium broke out below them, with Mick wounding Kit and leaving him in a critical condition as he pursued his quarry to the rooftop, where a terrified yet resolute Sally faced him down. In her final stand against Mick, Sally vowed to take care of Joanie and Shanice, promising them a brighter future, just as Mick surrendered to the police. Social media was abuzz with reactions, with heaps of praise being lavished on Joe's portrayal of Mick. Taking to his own social platforms, Joe expressed his gratitude for an Inside Soap Awards nomination and encouraged fans to vote, posting: "Very grateful for this nomination and all the kind messages you've sent about Mick the ******. Vote all thinks @coronation street," along with a link to the 2025 voting page for the awards ceremony. Joe's six-month tenure as Mick has earned him a nomination for Best Villain at the coveted awards. Competing for the title are Corrie's Claire Sweeney (Cassie Plummer) and EastEnders' Jonny Freeman (Reiss Colwell) and Navin Chowdhry (Nish Panesar). Also included in the category are Emmerdale's Ned Porteous (Joe Tate) and Oliver Farnworth (John Sugden), alongside Hollyoaks' Gemma Bissix (Clare Devine) and Jeremy Sheffield (Jeremy Blake).
