The Chicago Sky are carrying a 4-10 record into Friday evening's contest against the 7-7 Golden State Valkyries. They are currently in 11th place in the league standings and will look to win consecutive games for just the second time during the 2025 WNBA season.

2024 All-Rookie center Kamilla Cardoso led the charge during Tuesday's win against the Los Angeles Sparks. She contributed a career-high 27 points in addition to seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
Angel Reese, who made the WNBA All-Star team during her rookie campaign last season, contributed 18 points, 17 rebounds, six assists and four steals as well in the win.

Unfortunately, Cardoso began her temporary absence from the Sky after Tuesday's game as she will play for her home country, Brazil, in the Americup tournament during late June and early July. She will be unavailable for the game against the Valkyries.

First-year head coach Tyler Marsh had a decision to make about who would start in Cardoso's place alongside Reese. The Sky announced just before Friday's game that five-year veteran forward Michaela Onyenwere would start in her place.
"your starting 5️⃣ tonight," the Sky wrote.
Onyenwere joined the Sky last season and has played in 48 games for Chicago in just under a season and a half. She started 18 contests last season, but Friday will mark her first start of the 2025 campaign.
This season, Onyenwere has played in all 14 games and is averaging 4.4 points, 1.0 rebounds and 0.9 assists per contest in just 12.4 minutes per game.

Her best game of the season came on June 21 against the Phoenix Mercury when she poured in 17 points, two rebounds and two assists.
Tipoff between the Sky and Valkyries is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. ET at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California.

Cooper Flagg names Caitlin Clark to his WNBA Mount Rushmore: 'Changed the game'

Caitlin Clark might only be in her second season in the WNBA, but what she's already done for women's basketball is enough for Cooper Flagg to place her on his Mount Rushmore. During his introductory press conference after being selected first overall by the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night, the Duke product was asked what players were on his NBA and WNBA Mount Rushmore. Flagg rattled off Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant as his top picks in the NBA. For the women's game, he named Candace Parker, Brittney Griner and A'ja Wilson. For his last pick in the WNBA, Flagg named the Indiana Fever star and qualified his pick, saying that he believes she's earned that spot because of her impact on women's basketball. "I might put Caitlin Clark on there, just because she's changed the game so much and it's heading in the right direction," he told reporters Friday. "I just love what she's been able to do." Clark was the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft following a standout career at Iowa. She had an immediate impact in the pros, helping the Fever make a playoff appearance for the first time since 2016. She was named WNBA Rookie of the Year in a season that saw record viewership and attendance. The viewership boost includes fans like Flagg. "Honestly, it means a lot to me, seeing how far they have come, and I am going to continue to watch," Flagg said while attending the Dallas Wings home game against the Fever on Friday night. "I am a big fan, so it's really cool to just be here and be in this environment and get to watch a great game." Clark was sidelined from Friday's matchup, missing her second straight game due to a groin injury. The Fever still outlasted the Wings in the 94-86 victory, where Paige Bueckers, the first overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, dropped 27 points. Cubs' Kyle Tucker Admits 'There's Some Other Stuff' to Consider in Free Agency

Cubs' Kyle Tucker Admits 'There's Some Other Stuff' to Consider in Free Agency originally appeared on Athlon Sports. If the Chicago Cubs lose Kyle Tucker, this campaign will ultimately be viewed as a failure. Unless the Cubs win a World Series, nobody will be happy about the outcome of the year if Tucker is on a different ball club in the next few months. Advertisement It's tough to envision him leaving, but anything is possible. However, just from an outside point of view, Tucker is playing in one of the greatest cities in the world for a storied franchise. Not only is he doing that, but the Cubs are in first place, and he's swinging the bat at a ridiculously high level, hitting .287 with 16 home runs and 49 RBIs. His 167 OPS+ is also one of the highest in Major League Baseball. When speaking about his upcoming contract situation with NBC Chicago, Tucker admitted that he's loved the first half of the season in Chicago, but added that some other things have to be figured out. Chicago Cubs right fielder Kyle Tucker (30) hits a solo home run against the Pittsburgh Pirates during the fifth inning at PNC LeClaire-Imagn Images 'I've had a phenomenal first half of the season here so far. It's been nothing but great. I could definitely see myself in that situation, but obviously there's some other stuff we've got to get through,' Tucker said. 'But I mean I've had nothing but a phenomenal time here.' Advertisement When asked where negotiations stand, Tucker said he wants to keep those between him, the organization, his agent, and others. However, he must be giving love to the fan base, as they'll surely play a part in what he might do in the next few months. 'You definitely feel the love from the fanbase and the team, so I mean it definitely plays a part in (any decision),' he said. 'I don't know where the future's going to be or what not, but for now I'm here and I'm really enjoying it.'
