SPIELBERG, Austria (AP): Lando Norris held off a race-long challenge from his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri to win the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday and lift his Formula 1 title hopes.
Norris and Piastri battled for the lead early on, with the Australian briefly into the lead before Norris took the position back.
Piastri lost ground at the pit stops and was run wide onto the grass by Alpine's Franco Colapinto while cutting through traffic. He soon made up ground on Norris but wasn't quite close enough to try overtaking.
More than ever this season, the title fight focuses on the two McLarens after defending champion Max Verstappen was hit by Kimi Antonelli on the opening lap, ending his race. – AP

FAM president Datuk Mohd Joehari Mohd Ayub said that the Australian-born coach's remarks about external interference in the national team should be addressed directly by the coach himself to avoid unnecessary speculation. It was reported that Cklamovski had alleged internal issues, including political elements and certain obstacles faced by the national team under his leadership, in their efforts to advance on the international stage. - Bernama file photo "We don't know what Peter meant. I think it's best to ask him directly,' he said during a press conference after the 2025 FAM First Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) here today. Earlier, the media reported that Cklamovski had alleged internal issues, including political elements and certain obstacles faced by the national team under his leadership, in their efforts to advance on the international stage. He made the allegations following Malaysia's 4-0 victory over Vietnam in the second Group F match of the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on June 10. "Let Peter explain it himself. Sometimes, when statements are translated or relayed, the context can get lost. So honestly, it's best to ask him directly,' he said. At the same time, he stressed that FAM's support for the Harimau Malaya coaching staff remains strong and has not wavered since Cklamovski's appointment. "As the FAM president, I can assure you that we give 100 per cent, even 150 per cent, support to the coach and the players. We are always behind them,' he said. - BERNAMA More Like This

Tennis-Sabalenka powers past Branstine in Wimbledon opener

Tennis - Wimbledon - All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, London, Britain - June 30, 2025 Belarus' Aryna Sabalenka in action during her first round match against Canada's Carson Branstine REUTERS/Andrew Couldridge LONDON (Reuters) -Top seed Aryna Sabalenka overcame Canadian qualifier Carson Branstine on a sweltering Court One to get her quest for a first Wimbledon title up and running with a 6-1 7-5 win on Monday. With the thermometer soaring above 30 degrees Celsius, the Belarusian turned up the heat early to win the opening five games. But Branstine, who juggles her time between the tennis courts and working as a model, earned loud applause when she got on the scoreboard and although Sabalenka eased to the first set, the second was an intense duel of fierce baseline rallies. Sabalenka, seeded one at Wimbledon for the first time, usually overpowers her opponents with the sheer force of her game, but Branstine had firepower of her own. The Canadian powered down several big aces as she stayed ahead in the second set but Sabalenka sensed her chance at 5-5 and broke serve by forcing her opponent to net a forehand. Sabalenka wrapped up the win with a solid hold. ' (Reporting by Martyn Herman, editing by Ed Osmond)
