Ocean View Seahawks Class of 2025 soars into the future
Ocean View High School Principal Robert Rasmussen, in his fourth year in charge, knows that the Class of 2025 is the first that he's seen through an entire high school career.
'Every graduating class is special to me,' Rasmussen said last August, on the first day of the school year. 'Being able to watch them grow and mature throughout those high school years is one of the reasons I became a teacher.'
The Seahawks' Class of 2025 flew the coop, so to speak, on Wednesday.
Ocean View, the smallest of the six comprehensive high schools in the Huntington Beach Union High School District, definitely has no shortage of school pride with its slogan, 'You can't spell 'love' without 'OV.''
Ocean View celebrated its 291 graduates on an on-campus commencement ceremony.
Mayra Chavez Casillas addressed her peers with a speech as the senior class president, while Gabrielle Singer and Santiago Valle also gave speeches as senior senate representatives.
Angelina Bado, Matthew Bonilla, Brian Bui and Jacssiry Munoz were the Seahawks' other four senior graduation speakers.
Tyler Babikian played the national anthem, while Dulce Rabano sang the alma mater.

Steelers linked to another tight end trade target — Seahawks' Noah Fant
It must be Groundhog Day in the Steel City — as the Pittsburgh Steelers have been linked to another tight end trade target. As Pittsburgh's rumored interest in Dolphins TE Jonnu Smith and Falcons TE Kyle Pitts has begun to simmer down, CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin predicted the Seahawks to trade TE Noah Fant to the Steelers. Here's how Benjamin justified the proposal: "Even after securing Metcalf as their new No. 1 wideout, the Steelers have reportedly been sniffing around for pass catchers, in part to replace the gifted but volatile Pickens. And Fant — more so than, say, the Atlanta Falcons' Kyle Pitts — would seem to be readily available in Seattle. The Seahawks spent a second-round draft pick on fellow tight end Elijah Arroyo, whose athleticism could quickly vault him into a starting role, and trading Fant would save the team close to $9 million in 2025, the last year of the veteran's deal. As a bonus, Fant previously spent three years working alongside current Steelers assistant Zach Azzanni in Denver." Benjamin acknowledged that the Seahawks would be hesitant to send their only proven tight end option to Pittsburgh, while also arguing that the Steelers could have too many mouths to feed in their own tight end room. Although trade predictions have been piling up as NFL news slows down — especially with nearly a month remaining until training camp — this speculative proposal is far more feasible than the viral Najee Harris trade report. Could Pittsburgh ultimately pull off a trade before camp? And if they do, will the Steelers address their defense with a star corner like Jalen Ramsey — or perhaps reunite Aaron Rodgers with a former teammate in WR Allen Lazard? Notre Dame commit Caden Crowell named Indiana Player of the Year
Notre Dame commit Caden Crowell, the No. 2 ranked player in Indiana's Class of 2025, was named Indiana Player of the Year following a spectacular 2025 season. The left-hander was magical on the mound, allowing just two earned runs over 55 innings while recording 97 strikeouts. He walked just 11 batters. Crowell recorded a perfect 6-0 mark with an obscene 0.53 WHIP. He did not allow a single extra-base-hit or any stolen bases the entire spring, holding opponents to a .098 batting average. Ridiculous numbers. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder, who also plays first base, hit .375 with 14 extra-base hits, including three HRs, three triples and eight doubles. He also had four steals and drove in 24. Crowell, who is one of the top 50 prospects in the country, helped Valparaiso win its first-ever Class 4A state championship. The question now is whether Crowell will make it to South Bend and pitch for the Fighting Irish. It will all depend on how things shake out in the Major League Baseball Draft in July.
