Juventus 2 Man City 5: Erling Haaland's 300th goal and Savinho belter see Pep Guardiola's side pick up statement win
PEP GUARDIOLA and his squad are obviously loving their time in Florida.
Because Manchester City's next two knockout matches are now scheduled to be here in Orlando – just a short hop from their beachside training base in Boca Raton.

The 'Sunshine State' even produced a heavy first half downpour – just to ensure Pep's men feel right at home in the Camping World Stadium.
It was raining goals again too as Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Savinho were all on the scoresheet along with an OG from Pierre Kalulu.
And it means City finish top of Group G – which could be crucial for their hopes of retaining the Club World Cup trophy.
As well as meaning less travel, they are also in a much more favourable half of the draw with Bayern Munich and PSG in the other one.
A showdown with Guardiola's former assistant Enzo Maresca and his Chelsea team is now a possibility in the semi-final.
Pep admitted before the game he had selected his team with the extreme weather in mind.
It was 'only' 31 degrees when the game kicked off in mid afternoon but the humidity made it feel more like 40.
So the City boss was keen to ensure he had an injection of energy for the second half – with Haaland one of those left on the bench.

Meanwhile there was a first start since mid-September for Ballon D'Or winner Rodri who has battled back from a cruciate knee injury.
Knowing their place in the last 16 was guaranteed, Juve coach Igor Tudor also made changes.

Yet the difference between winning the group and finishing second will not have escaped the notice of the two camps.
The runners-up were looking at a much more difficult route to the final – with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain lying in wait - en route to the final in New York on July 13.
And this was City's first real test of the tournament – against a team who beat them in the Champions League back in December.
Right from the start they looked like they fancied it though.
Rayan Ait Nouri's cross from the left found skipper Bernardo Silva at the back post but his header was saved by the legs of Michele di Gregorio.
But the former Wolves man – who caught the eye on his debut against Al Ain at the weekend – was catching the eye again.

He sliced open the home defence with a pass to Jeremy Doku who cut inside his full-back and rolled a shot into the corner.
For the third game in a row at this tournament, City had scored inside the first 10 minutes and it was a perfect start.
Yet within two minutes they gifted the Italians a route back in as Ederson's radar was off with his pass out to Bernardo.
The Portuguese could not reach it and Teun Koopmeiners could not believe his luck as he drove into the empty space and thumped home.
Maybe the heat was affecting the players because 15 minutes later it was Juve dropping a clanger.
Savinho and Matheus Nunes combined to get the ball across but it was some way from its target Omar Marmoush.
Pierre Kalulu did not realise he was under no pressure though – and turned the ball into his own net rather than putting it out for a corner.

Marmoush and Savinho both had tame efforts saved but City were starting to stamp their authority on the game after an open start.
A heavy rain shower shortly before the interval was probably just the job to cool the English side down.
As expected, Haaland was on for the second half and almost made an immediate impact but could not quite get his toe onto Savinho's cross.
But he did not have to wait long for his goal – nice work from new boy Tijjani Reijnders and Nunes presented the Norwegian with an open net.
His finish was hardly emphatic but as the former Borussia Dortmund man knows – they all count. 300 career goals before he hits 25 years old is going some.
City just needed to see the game out but Ederson made amends for his earlier mistake by dashing off his line to deny Dusan Vlahovic.
And it proved to be a key moment as Haaland sent Savinho in on goal before he unselfishly allowed sub Phil Foden to roll in number four.
Then a corner from the left was only half cleared by the Italians and Savinho thumped a 20 yard shot in off the underside of the bar.
Vlahovic raced clear to score a consolation six minutes from time but by then City fans were already booking their extended stay here.
Three wins, 13 goals and only two conceded. Pep's men clearly mean business out here.

Three wins and a draw in Premier Sports Cup action for Motherwell saw them top their group and safely progress to the next round. They backed that up with a draw against Hertha Berlin last weekend too in final preparation for this test. It's a period of change at Well after Jens Berthel Askou replaced Michael Wimmer, who departed suddenly at the end of last season. It's also a summer of change at Rangers with Russell Martin's appointment seemingly an uninspiring one with the majority of the Gers support. But the early signs will have changed plenty of punter's minds, particularly having progressed in Champions League qualifying in midweek. Rangers rode their luck at times in both legs of the win over Panathinaikos with Jack Butland producing some great saves. But when their chances came along they took them and in Djeidi Gassama they have a young winger that the fans can get excited about after notching in both legs. The pre-season results have been a bit up and down for the Ibrox side but they stepped up when it mattered. This is the sort of game that has slipped them up in the past. Coming on the opening weekend, in the late slot on Saturday and in front of the TV cameras, Gers must start positively if hoping to close the gap to Celtic. A good dilemma for Martin then with Curtis being a standout throughout pre-season and a choice of winger to operate with. For that reason, I'm bailing out and picking an anytime scorer rather than a first scorer - though that could change if Gassama is included from the start. Not fully convinced with the Rangers defence as it stands and Butland has helped them in the two competitive games so far, so fancy Motherwell to score. Rangers have to win early though. Are Celtic ready for fight on all fronts?
With Celtic about to begin the defence of their Scottish title and facing a crunch Champions League qualifying play-off, just how equipped are they to build on recent success and progress again this season?Recruitment, aligned to key departures, has been a central theme of Celtic supporter conversation of late, with apparent concern that the squad is lacking in a number of areas that was echoed by manager Brendan Rodgers saying on Friday that there are "gaps in the squad that are very clear".There is still a long way to go in the transfer window, but with the expectation of a stronger title challenge from Rangers and a clear desire for continued participation at European football's top table, are Celtic ready to take on the immediate challenges ahead?Rodgers targeted improvement in Europe as a key aim on his return to the club and got that last season, pushing Bayern Munich in the Champions League play-off stage to narrowly miss out on a last 16 spot. Participation on that stage this season will be determined by a play-off in just under a month and missing out would be a significant just one year left on Rodgers' three-year contract, what happens over the coming weeks may go a long way to determining if he believes he can continue such despite saying he is "very happy" at Celtic, the 52-year-old Northern Irishman stressed he is "not the type of manager" to stick around if a club is merely treading water and that there was "no update" on a new contract. Tale of two Rodgers tenures With Rodgers entering a third season in charge of Celtic for the second time, it has been almost undiluted domestic success across both domestic trebles in his first two seasons came alongside challenging Champions League Cup victory in 2018 meant a seventh straight domestic trophy, but a perceived frustration that he had hit a ceiling with Celtic and the lure of the English Premier League sparked fury among a previously adoring support as Rodgers left for Leicester return four years later was met with a lukewarm response. He stated he would be there for the full three-year contract and quickly started winning trophies again to win over the support. He has won two league and cup doubles in two seasons, but it is the clear improvement at Champions League level that showcases Celtic's progression under that to continue, he has repeatedly stressed the need for quality additions to his squad. That need has become acute with the exit of Nicolas Khun, the long-term injury to fellow winger Jota and the lack of a direct replacement for Kyogo Furuhashi since the Japan forward left in January. The question is whether Celtic's recruitment ambitions match Rodgers' desire to continue driving the club forward and what that means moving forwards? Reluctance to spend a fair accusation as Celtic seek quality? Rodgers has repeatedly used the word "quality" when describing what his squad needs. He's also been clear that he wants more firepower and is short on natural wingers. Scotland defender Kieran Tierney's return adds undoubted talent and Sweden winger Benjamin Nygren appears to be good business on early evidence. Other new faces appear to be mainly for is clear is a significant section of the Celtic support feel a reluctance to spend significant sums is putting not only European ambitions at risk but also their domestic that fair? FThe former Celtic midfielder Scott Allan understands fan frustration but points to the return of Tierney on a free transfer as an example that is being somewhat overlooked."The fact that they were able to get Tierney on the free papers over the fact that he's a player of immense quality," he told BBC Scotland. "The only concerning thing is the fact that Brendan Rodgers actually spoke about players coming in and not necessarily getting in as starters. "I think Celtic fans are looking at players who can come in and affect the team now and that's where the concern is growing from." Long-term transfer strategy paid off, but should Celtic bow to fan demands? Celtic's long-term transfer strategy has delivered time and time again and must be the envy of many clubs. Huge profit has been brought in for the likes of Matt O'Riley, Jota and spent big last summer on midfielder Arne Engels and striker Adam Idah. With hindsight, some fans feel they may have overpaid, but that view may change over the coming months.A rough estimate of receipts this summer alone suggests a figure of around £20-25m has come in against a spend a fraction of that. A reminder of the first window of Rodgers' second spell is notable in terms of fan satisfaction. Celtic recruited widely and supporter reaction at the time seemed overwhelmingly positive. A look through that list of names might provide some caution. Luis Palma, Gustaf Lagerbielke, Kwon Hyeok-kyu, Marco Tilio, Odin Thiago Holm and Maik Nawrocki have all failed to make the grade after an outlay of close to £ and care over fees may bear more fruit than the examples above. How will Rodgers feel right now? Rodgers has repeatedly indicated that he expects his squad to be stronger come the end of August and there is likely to be movement in the coming days and weeks. The question is whether that will be enough to satisfy him and a support desperate to enjoy continued domestic success and see their team build on a successful Champions League campaign last term, with that play-off hurdle crucial."I can totally understand his Rodgers' frustration," Allan said. "He spoke after the Bayern Munich exit about evolving every year. That was probably looking ahead to this window."There were a lot of questions asked when Kyogo left. Daizen Maeda did a job as number nine, but I think there's no question Brendan Rodgers prefers him on the wing. "He's wanting to evolve the team, he's wanting to go longer in Europe and that comes down to getting quality in."In Rodgers' own words, Celtic have work to do in this window with significant challenges coming over the horizon.

Alison McConnell: Why timing of Crichton's Rangers switch is bizarre
Crichton completed her UEFA Pro Licence this summer and, as well as BBC media work, she has coached with Motherwell and City since retiring. Taking over at Rangers will be her first time not as a sidekick but at the wheel. Few would begrudge her the chance to take on what is clearly a huge role as she takes over from Jo Potter. But the timing of the appointment will be a source of some consternation. Rangers headed to Italy this week for the last lap of pre-season, with Crichton still in position at Petershill with City. Given the fact that the season kicks off in just over a fortnight, the lack of a compensation agreement prior meant that Crichton was still in at City this week as her new charges went through their paces under the sun in Italy. It is a bizarre turn of events. It would have been in everyone's best interests for Crichton to cut ties with a City side that – in a matter of weeks - she will now be in direct competition for when it comes to a title fight. Read more: Clearly, City are well within their rights to hold out for an adequate compensation package given that they are losing an assistant manager a fortnight before the season kicks off. They are also right to feel irked at losing a key member of their managerial team to their rivals. In truth, there are few surprises really in the SWPL given how often teams play one another, but being privy to the preparations and plans for the season before heading to Rangers will have aggrieved City. But from Crichton's perspective, barely getting her feet under the desk before the curtain comes up on the new campaign means that she is straight into it. She inherits a team that have lost six first-team players, including the fairly prolific Rio Hardy, so will have ample work to do in order to have a squad ready for what lies ahead. The understanding is that Crichton was identified by the Rangers hierarchy as having what they wanted to take the club forward following Potter's departure. That may well mean that the candidates who made applications for the job were not deemed up to standard or that finances were not on the same page from those, but it seems odd that the decision was not made some weeks back. That would have alleviated some of the stress as the clock now ticks loudly ahead of an opening weekend where Rangers are away to Montrose. On the pitch is where she will be judged with the remit for Crichton very much the same as it is for Russell Martin; go and win the league. AND ANOTHER THING Elsie Cook has written her story – 'A Kiss fae Pele' – with Tom Brown, a book that went on sale on Friday, priced at £22. Most will be well aware of her role within Scottish women's football and it is only fitting that she should be inducted into the SFA Hall of Fame. Better late than never. But in amongst the tales of meeting Pele and gaining the respect of Jock Stein, what resonated was the tremendous personal cost that came with what can only be described as a vocation to football. Written in the Ayrshire vernacular, her tale of heading to Edinburgh, two small kids in tow, to hand in her notice as secretary of the SWFA after her husband had essentially offered her an ultimatum, is quite something. The heaviness she felt abandoning the post and then the swiftness with which she accepted the manager's job at the same meeting had this reader cheering her all the way. But it is easy to forget the sheer strength of character that was necessary for women such as Elsie Cook to withstand the massive societal pressures around their involvement in football. Pushing through that to advocate for the rights of women and of girls to play football required not only courage of conviction but a bravery that is difficult to truly appreciate. AND FINALLY You may have heard that Sarina Wiegman's Lionesses successfully defended their status as European Champions with a penalty shoot-out win over Spain. Spare a thought for those Scottish based players who will return to the domestic fold in the next few weeks to hear all about it. But while all is rosy in England's garden, it illustrates that massive leaps that the game has taken south of the border will Scotland have fallen off the edge of a cliff. Melissa Andreatta will know that she has her work cut out for her as she looks to steer Scotland towards Brazil and the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2027. Qualification is imperative if Scotland are to push on in both a domestic and international sense.
