Twin High School Seniors Who Drowned in Lake Remembered as Students Who 'Gave This World Something Uniquely Beautiful'

Yahoo23-04-2025
Twin brothers have died days apart from each other, reportedly during a fishing incident while out of town.
The Philadelphia School District confirmed the deaths of high school seniors Jamarion and Camarion Grady on its Facebook page on Sunday, April 20.
'The PPSD community has experienced tremendous losses this weekend and our hearts are with all those affected. We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from our community members and schools during this difficult time,' the announcement read.

A follow-up post on Monday, April 21, described their deaths as 'an accidental drowning.'
Sunday's post included school portraits of the twins, each dressed in a suit and tie, plus quotes they wanted to be remembered for.
'If you don't take risks, you can't create a future,' Jamarion said, adding that he aspired to be a real estate agent.
Camarion's quote was the mantra he lived by: 'All or nothing.' He had dreams of becoming a barber.
Though details have been limited, Vicksburg News reported that the twins died days apart after drowning while they were fishing at Lake Pushmataha in Mississippi's Pearl River community.
According to the outlet, Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said the brothers had been under the water for a while.
PEOPLE did not immediately receive a response from the NCSO.

Jamarion, known by loved ones as 'Frog,' was reportedly pronounced dead on April 17, while Camarion, 'Fatt,' was flown to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he died Easter Sunday, April 20.
'Camarion was larger than life — in spirit, in personality, and in the way he showed up for the people he loved. Outgoing, fearless, and full of energy, he had a way of walking into a room and instantly lighting it up. His laughter was loud, his smile even louder, and his ability to connect with people was something truly special. Fatt didn't just make friends — he made everyone feel like they belonged,' the school district said.
He was also remembered as 'a standout on the football field,' and 'the kind of teammate who celebrated others' wins as much as his own.'

'Camarion's faith grounded him. He loved God and wasn't shy about it,' they said.
The post also talked about the siblings' relationship as twins.
'Though Camarion and Jamarion were twins, they were their own people, each remarkable in their own right. Camarion was the louder voice, the bigger laugh, the one always dancing. Always talking, always reaching out to lift someone else up. His bond with 'Frog' was undeniable, and their absence leaves an impossible void, but we will honor them as individuals, because they each gave this world something uniquely beautiful.'

The school district invited community members to wear red and black on Wednesday, April 23, in a "show of unity and strength" as they remember Camarion and Jamarion.

‘Ticking time bomb' Marine vet, 42, violently kicks, yanks 6-year-old stepson on dog leash, disturbing video shows

Disturbing video allegedly captured a former US Marine repeatedly kicking and ferociously yanking his 6-year-old stepson on a dog leash during what Florida prosecutors described as two days of horrific torture, according to reports. Zachary Perez, 42, was allegedly caught on home surveillance footage parading the youngster through their Miami home with a pink leash wrapped around his neck and then aggressively jerking him backward to the ground, multiple videos obtained by NBC 6 showed. Other horrifying videos, released by the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office, captured the unhinged stepdad seemingly chasing the youngster with a stick, kicking him as he ran through the living room and viciously booting him in the stomach onto a bed in the boy's bedroom. 4 Zachary Perez, 42, was allegedly captured on home surveillance walking the boy around the home with a leash. Miami-Dade SAO Prosecutors, who described Perez — an Iraq War vet — as a 'ticking time bomb' willing to hurt anyone, said he was also seen forcing the boy to walk outside wearing a backpack filled with rocks during the malicious two-day ordeal, the outlet reported. The alleged abuse left the young boy with swollen eyes from being punched, scratches across his body, a rash on his neck from the dog collar and marks from tree branches used to whip him, court records alleged. 4 Perez appears to hold a stick as the child, who is blurred, is in the yard with him. Miami-Dade SAO The youngster's mother, Barbara Perez, previously claimed in court that her son now suffers from PTSD, a traumatic brain injury and hearing problems as a result of Perez's alleged savage cruelty. Perez's attorney claimed the boy's mother asked for help caring for the child and gave him permission to discipline him — a claim prosecutors argued lacks any evidence. 4 Since Zachary Perez's arrest, multiple people, including his 14-year-old daughter, have reportedly come forward with additional allegations of abuse, prosecutors said. Miami Dade Corrections The frenzied stepfather was arrested and charged back in May with aggravated child abuse — an allegation in which he pleaded not guilty. Since his arrest, multiple individuals have reportedly come forward with additional allegations of abuse, including his 14-year-old daughter, prosecutors said. 4 Prosecutors said the horrific abuse lasted for two days. Miami-Dade SAO The rampaging madman was initially denied bail but was released on house arrest on June 10. Perez was reportedly ordered to remain at least 500 feet away from his stepson and the boy's mother, and have no contact with either of them. Perez is due back in court on Aug. 28.

Data stolen from 6.5 million Co-op members in ‘devastating' cyber attack

All 6.5 million members of the Co-op had their data stolen in the cyber attack against the UK retailer earlier this year, the retailer has revealed. The chief executive of the retail and funeral care group Shirine Khoury-Haq said she was 'devastated' by the impact of the attack on workers and members. In late April, the company shut off parts of its IT systems after the attack, in which hackers accessed and extracted members' personal data. Shoppers were faced with empty shelves and issues with payments shortly afterwards caused by the fallout of the incident. It was among a string of high-profile cyber attacks on retailers, with rival Marks & Spencer hit particularly heavily by a cyber incident around Easter, which it said would result in a roughly £300 million hit to its finances. On Tuesday, the Co-op boss confirmed to BBC Breakfast that 'names, addresses and contact information' for all of its members were accessed. Ms Khoury-Haq told the programme: 'We know that a lot of that information is out there anyway but people will be worried and all members should be concerned. 'As soon as we knew what had been taken, we informed our members. We also advised them on what they needed to do to protect their information as well. 'But I am devastated by that, I am devastated that the information was taken.' She said the hackers created a copy of one of the firm's files but were unable to attack its platforms further and install planned ransomware. 'We realised it was happening when the cyber criminals started moving around within our systems and that is when we took action to stop them,' the boss said. 'Unfortunately by the time we had done that, they had made a copy of one of our files, but we did block them from doing anything else. 'It meant shutting down our systems quite dramatically. 'The good news was that we managed to keep our front lines open – our stores and funeral homes stayed open but the impact on colleagues, the impact on our stores, our members, was significant.' Last week, the National Crime Agency said four young people were arrested for their suspected involvement in the cyber attacks against the Co-op, M&S and Harrods. The comments came as the Co-op announced a partnership with a social impact business in the wake of the attack. The link-up with The Hacking Games is aimed at preventing cybercrime by identifying young cyber talent and channelling their skills into positive, ethical careers. The Co-op said cyber threats were evolving at an 'alarming' rate, highlighting the need for skilled cybersecurity professionals. The retail giant said it wants to help prevent cyber crime before it starts by supporting young people to put their skills to good use. Ms Khoury-Haq added: 'We know first-hand what it feels like to be targeted by cybercrime. The disruption it causes, the pressure it puts on colleagues, and the impact it has on the people and communities we serve. 'Our partnership with The Hacking Games lets us reach talented young people early, guide their skills toward protection rather than harm, and open real paths into ethical work. When we expand opportunity we reduce risk, while having a positive impact on society.' Fergus Hay, co-founder of The Hacking Games, said: 'There is an incredible amount of cyber talent out there – but many young people don't see a path into the industry, or simply don't realise their skills can be used for good. 'This partnership with Co-op will help unlock that potential. It's about giving people the opportunity to do something positive, showing that their talents are valued and creating a generation of ethical hackers to make the world safer.'
