Coincidence? Baylor football has four 'Jamarion' commits in 2026 recruiting class
Baylor football has assembled quite the recruiting class for the 2026 season: The class not only has talented players, but also a weird coincidence. The Bears gained a commitment from high-end four-star defensive lineman Jamarion Carlton on Thursday, July 10, which in of itself seems like a normal occurrence in the recruiting calendar. However, with his commitment, it marked the fourth player whose first name is "Jamarion" to join Baylor's 2026 recruiting class. REQUIRED READING: Kansas State thinking College Football Playoff after Avery Johnson declined NIL offers Carlton joins four-star cornerback Jamarion Vincent, three-star linebacker Jamarion Phillips and three-star cornerback Jamarion Richardson, all of whom hail from Texas. There also aren't many instances of players named Jamarion in the sports world, outside of Alabama running back Jamarion "Jam" Miller, or NBA G-Leaguer Jamarion Sharp, who played collegiately at Western Kentucky. There are only eight players named Jamarion in 247Sports' database for 2026, seven of whom have reported scholarship offers and two of whom aren't rated on the star system. The only other player named Jamarion who has publicly committed is four-star edge rusher Jamarion Matthews, who committed to Alabama. According to the Social Security Administration, the name Jamarion peaked as the 418th-most popular male name in 2005. Jamarion didn't rank within the top 1,000 for any year after 2020 in terms of popularity. In short, the chances of the coincidence are incredibly slim. who wants to add to the Jamarion gauntlet? #JamarionU Carlton became the school's fourth highest-rated recruit ever upon his commitment, as he ranks as the nation's No. 39 overall player, according to 247Sports' Composite rankings. He's also the No. 4 defensive lineman and No. 5 player in Texas. Vincent is also a top-end recruit, tabbed as the No. 189 player in the country and No. 18 cornerback. He's the No. 11-ranked player in Baylor history. Here's a look at how each of the Baylor commits ranks, according to 247Sports Composite: It's not the first time there has been a glitch-in-the-matrix type roster coincidence. The Dallas Mavericks of the NBA had three players (J.J. Barea, Deron Williams, Raymond Felton) with the same birthday of June 26, 1984. They were also all point guards. Baylor's 2026 recruiting class, which ranks 39th nationally with 15 commits, might just be defined by how the Jamarions perform in their college careers.

Tragedy as twin brothers die a month before their high school graduation
A pair of high school twin brothers who were supposed to graduate in a month have tragically died during a fishing trip. The Neshoba County Sheriff's office was called to Lake Pushmataha on Thursday evening in Mississippi to investigate reports of a drowning involving the 18-year-olds. They located the twins, Camarion and Jamarion Grady, who had been under the water for quite a long time, Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said, according to Vicksburg News. Jamarion died at the scene while Camarion was rushed to University of Mississippi Medical Center in critical condition after he 'jumped in' to save his sibling, a GoFundMe page said. Sadly, on April 20, Camarion died. The circumstances surrounding the fatal incident remain unclear, but according to family members it was an 'accidental drowning.' The brothers, who 'were known for their vibrant spirits and dreams', were set to graduate from Philadelphia High School in May. Jamarion, who also went by 'Frog,' had dreams of becoming a real estate agent while Camarion aspired to be a barber, another donation page said. They leave behind their mother Rasheedah Blacks, their father Rodney McClendon Jr., and their five other siblings. A day after the incident, Blacks took to Facebook to ask her friends and family to pray for Camarion, also known as 'Fatty', while he was in the hospital. 'Morning….Yawl please pray for my baby please Lord I need him….that's my baby…always the life of the party never met a stranger always making someone smile… if yawl don't do ANYTHING ELSE TODAY…. Pray for my fatty,' she wrote alongside pictures and videos of her beloved son. Days later, she shared images of her sons as babies, announcing Camarion's death. 'These are not just my babies they are OUR BABIES…. These two were a perfect match and my heart knew that one was not going w/o the other,' Blacks said. On Sunday, Philadelphia Public Schools confirmed the brothers' sudden deaths. 'The PPSD community has experienced tremendous losses this weekend and our hearts are with all those affected. We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from our community members and schools during this difficult time,' the district said, adding that grief counselors would be available for those who need them. The district also asked the community to wear red and black in honor of Camarion and Jamarion on Wednesday. Several people posted images of themselves and others in the community wearing the colors to Facebook. Their funeral is set for Saturday, followed by a burial service, according to their obituaries Their sister Danajah Williams posted images and videos of the twins during their high school football senior night in honor of them. 'This was some exciting twins this night (October 31,2024- senior night) I'm so thankful I was able to b there to watch them and see their smiling face when they called their name telling about them. We sure are gone miss them so much,' Williams said. The school district later sent out individual letters about each brother, as they wrote: 'Though Camarion and Jamarion were twins, they were their own people — each remarkable in their own right. 'Camarion was the louder voice, the bigger laugh, the one always dancing, always talking, always reaching out to lift someone up.' Their funeral is set for Saturday, followed by a burial service, according to their obituaries.
