Coronation Street legend ‘can't wait' as she announces new role
When Kym announced her exit from BBC school drama Waterloo Road earlier this year, Corrie fans began theorising that she would return to the ITV soap – though it appears this isn't the case.
Instead, Kym is set to tread the boards once more as she takes on the lead role of Hedy in the UK and Ireland tour of Single White Female.
The play, which is adapted by Rebecca Reid from the film of the same name and the book SWF Seeks Same by John Lutz, will hit the stage in January 2026.
Taking to Instagram, Kym shared her excitement at taking on the new role.
'Aarrgghhh! I am so excited to announce that I'll be playing Hedy in this brand new stage adaptation of 90s blockbuster Single White Female,' she wrote.

'I remember being gripped when I first saw it in the cinema and I can't wait to be part of the team that brings it to life on stage.
'The UK and Ireland tour starts in January and you can find the link for dates, venues and tickets in my bio!' She finished, warning fans to 'Watch out for the stilettos!'.
Her new venture was supported in the comments by several of her famous friends, with Corrie star Claire Sweeney writing: 'Well done darling.'
'Can't wait to watch you,' fellow Corrie alum Helen Flanagan added.
Kym starred as Michelle Connor in Coronation Street from 2006 until 2019, when the character left to start a new life with family in Ireland.
Michelle was part of some big storylines during her time on the cobbles, including the discovery that her son had been swapped at birth, the deaths of both of her brothers, a stalking ordeal, and a shooting.
Perhaps her most moving storyline saw her tragically lose son Ruairi after going into early labour.
Before her exit, Michelle was involved in a dramatic love triangle that saw her discover that fiancé Robert Preston was leading a double life, having got Vicky Jefferies pregnant.
Following the discovery, Michelle and Vicky teamed up to get revenge on Robert by framing him for Vicky's murder. However, they scrapped their plan when Vicky went into labour while in hiding, with Michelle forced to deliver the baby. More Trending
After leaving the show, Kym starred in several stage productions including the stage adaptation of Fatal Attraction and musicals Greatest Days and 101 Dalmatians.
She has also presented BBC Morning Live and was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.

Justin Bieber has four word message for wife Hailey after split rumours
Justin Bieber appears to have dismissed rumours about his marriage to Hailey Bieber with a simple message. The relationship between the 31-year-old singer and his 28-year-old wife has been subject to plenty of speculation and reports in recent weeks with rumours of a breakup. However, Justin looks to have shrugged off any suggestion of a split with a four-word post on Instagram. Justin shared a series of sunset snaps with his wife on Sunday as they relaxed on a balcony together. Although Hailey's face could only be partially be seen in the photos – one them just showed the back of her head – Justin was clear in the caption. He wrote: 'My forever n always.' Justin and Hailey first met in 2009 and started dating six years later, and the rekindled their one/off romance in 2018 following his split from Selena Gomez. The couple welcomed their first son Jack into the world last August. Fans have been speculating about Justin's wellbeing for months after some erratic behaviour on social media. At the beginning of the year, he unfollowed the Rhode Beauty founder on Instagram, but refollowed her the same morning and claimed: 'Someone went on my account and unfollowed my wide.' A couple of months later, Hailey unfollowed the Love Yourself hitmaker for a couple of days, which she insisted was 'a glitch'. There have been reports that she has has become 'really concerned' about his behaviour', while in April her husband shared a lengthy and rambling post about people being 'jealous' of their marriage. The following month, Justin left his fans baffled after he revealed a fight they once had to commemorate her first Vogue magazine cover. He wrote of how he once told her during a 'huge fight' that she would 'never be on the cover of Vogue'. 'Yikes, I know, so mean,' he reflected, adding: 'So baby u already know but forgive me for saying u wouldn't get a vogue cover cuz clearly i was sadly mistaken. (sic)' He later deleted the post, while he has continued to leave fans confused by his social media activity. More Trending Last month, he suggested love shouldn't be conditional as he hit out at 'transactional relationships', while he later opened up and 'anger issues' and called himself 'broken' in an emotional statement. ‘Big' Sam Young and partner Grace Chen are opening a Chinese restaurant in Potts Point
If you're not following chef-owner-restaurateur-lobster-enthusiast 'Big' Sam Young on Instagram, what have you been doing? The co-owner of Castlecrag's luxe bistro S'more – known for its top-quality produce, bougie offerings and truffle-on-everything energy – posts non-stop pictures of delicious food and private dinners at multi-million-dollar homes. He's also prolific when it comes to being a hustler, which comes from his lived experience of moving to Australia from Hong Kong at 13 – only to have everything, including his passport and money, stolen days later. Being an immigrant and working hard has shaped his ethos. Now, he and partner Grace Chen are opening their second venue dedicated to that journey: a Chinese restaurant called Young's Palace, opening this August in the excellent former home of Raja and Teddy on Kellett Street in Potts Point. 'We've been sold this outdated image of immigrant-run restaurants as cheap, fast and scrappy. That was survival. But now, we want to tell a new story – one that honours hard work but also values quality, creativity and pride,' Sam says, who has also spent time in the kitchens of Queen Chow and Lotus. Young's Palace is also inspired by the couple's travels – particularly the Chinatowns they've explored in cities like Paris, Amsterdam, New York, Vancouver and Sydney. 'Grace and I always find ourselves hunting down a plate of fried rice or chow mein, no matter where we are in the world. Young's Palace is about recreating that joy – classic Chinese dishes that are simple, comforting and utterly craveable,' says Sam. Sam says don't expect laminated menus with a hundred-plus options, fluorescent lighting or any compromise on quality for convenience. And absolutely no modern Asian-fusion. What you can expect, however, are two menus: one with nostalgic crowd favourites – think sweet and sour pork, honey king prawns, General Tao's chicken and lemon chicken – and the 'Chairman's Menu', which is BSY to a T: luxe dishes like lobster, giant mud crab and claypot abalone rice crowned with truffles and caviar. 'There's no reason a bowl of noodles can't be treated with the same respect and price tag as a plate of pasta. We're not here to follow rules. We're here to create something we're proud of,' adds Sam. See you there later this year!

TV tonight: a vulgar but addictive show about running a billionaire's mansion
9pm, BBC Three Spare a thought for luxury property concierge Heaven, who thinks her job is a way to 'live vicariously' through her billionaire guests. She is so disorganised that the bosses have brought in five-star hotel expert Jasmin. Cue plenty of competitive drama in this icky (but undeniably watchable) reality series about running a mansion on Sydney Harbour. Disasters include lost bottles of vintage champagne, an unwelcome dog guest and a pair of disgruntled hunky chef brothers. Hollie Richardson 7pm, BBC Two It's a suffocating 31C at the time of writing, so the question posed here is enough to make a nation sob – and reach for another fan. BBC weather expert Sarah Keith-Lucas delivers some hard truths as she looks at what rising temperatures are doing to all industries. HR 9pm, BBC Two As the second season of this gripping, slightly sinister Aussie noir continues, Mandy is in trouble. She's been arrested for Jasper's murder and doesn't have an alibi. However, while the police wander down a blind alley, journalist Martin has other ideas: could a system of sexual exploitation around tourist visas offer him a way in? Phil Harrison 9pm, Sky Atlantic Busybody Bertha's (Carrie Coon) 'vision' for her daughter has started to interfere with business, and George (Morgan Spector) can't have that, especially with the Duke's deal beginning to fall apart. Meanwhile, Peggy Scott (Denée Benton) makes an eligible acquaintance and Agnes (Christine Baranski) is adjusting to life on the outside. Ellen E Jones 9pm, Sky Witness When a young motorist is suspiciously found dead in his vehicle, Elsbeth (Carrie Preston) goes undercover at his pricey wellness retreat to ferret out a lead and, as one does, ends up confronting her own emotional repression. Accused of covering up past abuse, she unravels, just as the retreat leader's shady past resurfaces. Ali Catterall 10pm, Channel 4 A frankly stomach-churning documentary series that most of us could do without. But, for those with strong dispositions, it follows the experts who clean up crime scenes, which this week include a London spot where a teenager has been stabbed to death in a rental car. Over in Louisiana, a potentially explosive meth lab is discovered. HR
