Teddi Mellencamp speaks out after attempted burglary at her LA home

Yahoo22-07-2025
An attempted burglary reported Monday night in Los Angeles took place at the home of former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Teddi Mellencamp.
Mellencamp and her family were home at the time of the attempted break-in, she told ABC News Tuesday.
"We are grateful that everyone is unharmed. While we are shaken, we are fortunate to have the latest in home security systems which scared off the intruders," Mellencamp and her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave said in a statement to ABC News. "Authorities were alerted and swiftly responded. We appreciate everyone's heightened concern in light of recent criminal activities in our area, but we are safe."
Mellencamp shares three children and a stepchild with Arroyave, from whom she announced her separation in November.
The Los Angeles Police Department said Tuesday that a call came in around 10:15 p.m. local time Monday for a burglary with residents inside. When police officers arrived at the home, the suspected burglars had left the home without obtaining full access
The suspects gained entry to the property possibly through the garage but did not get far before they ran off, according to the LAPD.
The suspects got away in a black BMW. The LAPD says it is looking for two males in black hooded sweatshirts.
Mellencamp, now a podcast host and the founder of an accountability program, is the daughter of music legend John Cougar Mellencamp.
The mom of four announced earlier this year that she was diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma, a type of skin cancer, which she said had spread to her brain and lungs.

Mellencamp has said she is currently undergoing both radiation and immunotherapy treatment.
The attempted burglary at Mellencamp's home Monday happened just 11 minutes after there was a similar call at another home, according to police.
The suspects were also gone from that address when officers arrived. It does not appear anyone was home at that address, and it is unclear if anything was taken at that home.
Just one week ago, on July 14, a couple -- "American Idol" music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband Thomas Deluca -- were found shot to death in their Los Angeles home during a welfare check.

A 22-year-old suspect -- Raymond Boodarian -- is accused of scaling a fence onto the couple's Encino property and allegedly shooting and killing them during a struggle when they arrived home from the grocery store, authorities said.
Boodarian has been charged with two counts of murder and a count of residential burglary, with the special circumstance allegation of multiple murders and murder during the commission of a burglary, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office.
The district attorney, Nathan Hochman, held a town hall meeting with residents Monday -- the same night as the attempted burglary at Mellencamp's home -- to talk about the case.

Elizabeth Holmes spotted at Texas prison where Ghislaine Maxwell was transferred

Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes was spotted jogging at the same minimum-security Texas prison that is now housing Ghislaine Maxwell after a recent transfer. Holmes, 41, is serving an 11-year sentence for knowingly misleading investors at Theranos, the blood-testing company she founded in 2003. The company ceased operations in 2018. She was sentenced in 2022 after she was convicted on three counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Holmes was pictured on Saturday jogging in a gray shirt and shorts, as well as compression gloves and a hat in the rec yard at Federal Prison Camp Bryan. The prison in Bryan, Texas, is the same facility where 63-year-old Maxwell, the convicted associate of deceased sex predator Jeffrey Epstein, is now being held after she was transferred on Friday from Federal Correctional Institution Tallahassee in Florida. It remains unclear why she was moved, but Maxwell and her lawyer met twice with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche before the transfer took place. Maxwell's attorney has been publicly seeking a pardon or sentence commutation from President Donald Trump. The president said he has not received such a request, but has not ruled out the possibility of a pardon or commutation. Maxwell has also offered to testify to a congressional committee about Epstein in exchange for immunity. Maxwell, who is eligible for release in 2037, was found guilty in 2021 on sex trafficking charges in connection with helping Epstein abuse underage girls.

YAHOO POLL: Has Fantastic Four revived the MCU for you?

The Fantastic Four: The First Steps had its world premiere on Monday (21 July) night and the first reactions to the film were generally positive. The film was under immense pressure and expectations, no doubt due to its troubled cinematic history. Its first iteration under 20th Century Fox in 2005 was a flop. A reboot in 2015, also under 20th Century Fox, reimagined Marvel's First Family as a dark, gritty comic book film but it didn't fare better either. However, Marvel can finally breathe a sigh of relief as, despite a steep drop at the box office in its second weekend, the film is sitting well with critics. If anything, the fact that it retained the top position in the second weekend is a testament to the strength of the film. Fantastic Four has garnered an 86 per cent rating with critics and a 92 per cent rating with audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. If it matters, Fantastic Four scored higher than James Gunn's Superman – which was released earlier in July. So, we want to hear from you – Has Fantastic Four revived the MCU for you? Inglewood residents complain of noise from HARD Summer music festival, Lady Gaga concert

Inglewood residents are once against raising concerns over the booming noise brought on by the HARD Summer music festival, which is this time paired with Lady Gaga playing right across the street. Tens of thousands of fans flocked to Hollywood Park, next to SoFi Stadium for the HARD Summer festival and just steps away from the Kia Forum, where Lady Gaga is closing out the Los Angeles leg of her "The Mayhem Ball Tour." "I just love the energy, trying to have a good time, going to have fun," said Armando Alvarez, one of the thousands in Inglewood on Saturday for the music. "It doesn't matter where I am, just trying to have an adventure and go with the flow." While some concertgoers like Alvarez love the vibes in Inglewood, some residents are already fed up with the dueling performances. "It just sounded like a lot of banging, a lot of cheering and a lot of loud drumming," said Latrice Bates. She lives just down the street from SoFi Stadium and recalls the impact last year's HARD Summer festival had on her son. "He tosses and turns. He wakes up and says he can't sleep," Bates said. Last year, complaints came from as far as the South Bay, including places like El Segundo and Redondo Beach. City officials in the area reported more than 100 noise complaints from the festival, which led them to ban performances from the SoFi's American Airlines Plaza. Inglewood Mayor James Butts said that he wants the city to be an entertainment hub, but promised that this year's event would differ from last year's. "Last year, what happened was the main stage was American Airlines Plaza, 50 feet elevated from the floor of SoFi, and it was facing west and that, combined with atmospheric conditions, allowed the bass frequencies to run along the clouds," Butts said. He said that a changeup in where speakers were located, along with a newly-implemented concert curfew to coincide with the city curfew of 10 p.m., should help lessen residents' concerns. "It ran over last year. It will not run over this year," he said. "If I have to pull the plug myself, it will end at 10 o'clock." Prior to this weekend, HARD Summer event planners said that they were aware of last year's complaints, and that "extensive efforts" were taken "to mitigate sound levels with operational changes." Despite these promises from city officials and event organizers, some people living in the South Bay still took to social media to comment on the sound from the events, which some said they planned on reporting once again.
