For decades, scientists have debated what's beneath the Moon's dusty surface. Now, new research has delivered some of the clearest evidence yet of what's inside the Moon.
Using data from lunar laser-ranging experiments and various space missions, a team of researchers built a detailed model of the Moon's internal makeup. Their findings point to a layered structure, with a molten outer core surrounding a solid inner core. This inner core appears to be as dense as iron, strongly suggesting that the Moon's center is a metallic ball rather than a liquid blob or fully solid sphere.

This discovery helps resolve a long-standing scientific puzzle. Previous studies, including Apollo-era seismic data, hinted at a complex core, but the resolution wasn't clear enough to settle the debate. With this new research, though, scientists have a clearer picture of what's inside the moon, and it supports the idea that the Moon once had a dynamic interior capable of generating a magnetic field.
That early magnetic field, which vanished around 3.2 billion years ago, may have been created by motion in the Moon's molten layers. The new findings also lend weight to the theory of 'mantle overturn,' where denser material inside the Moon sinks while lighter material rises. This could explain why some elements appear in volcanic regions on the surface.
These results also validate earlier estimates made in 2011, offering a rare moment of scientific confirmation across independent studies. Both found similar core dimensions and density, pointing to a shared structure between Earth and its satellite.
Knowing what's inside the Moon is vital for understanding how the Moon formed, evolved, and how it might behave in the future. With possible human missions planned to the Moon in the coming years, seismic instruments and advanced sensors could soon provide even more detailed measurements to support these findings.

The Odyssey Teaser Trailer Release Date Possibly Set
A new report seems to suggest that a teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated epic, , will be coming soon. Per a new report from World of Reel, a teaser trailer for the upcoming film narrated by Anne Hathaway is ready. The release for the trailer is reported to be set for sometime in July, along with screenings for Jurassic World Rebirth, which is set to release on July 2, 2025. The report goes on to say that the teaser trailer likely won't feature any real footage, in line with some of the early teasers for past Nolan films, like Oppenheimer. Rare Jupiter-sized planet discovered 3,200 light-years away using Einstein's space-time warping method
Astronomers used a method once theorized by Albert Einstein to find a mysterious and rare planet on the edge of our galaxy. The planet, AT2021uey b, is a Jupiter-sized gas giant located about 3,200 light-years from Earth in the galactic bulge. It takes AT2021uey b 4,170 days to orbit its dwarf star, according to a study published in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics. Advertisement According to Live Scence, AT2021uey b's shadow was first spotted in 2021 in data taken by the European Space Agency's Gaia telescope. It took the astronomers multiple check-ins to confirm the details of the planet. The astronomers discovered the planet using microlensing, a method used only three times previously, according to the study. Microlensing, which is based on Einstein's theory of relativity, relies on massive objects moving through the galaxy to warp the fabric of the universe, called space-time. 'This kind of work requires a lot of expertise, patience and, frankly, a bit of luck. You have to wait for a long time for the source star and the lensing object to align and then check an enormous amount of data,' Maskoliunas said in the statement. As the planet settles in front of the star during its journey, the light begins to curve around the planet, magnifying the light of the star. According to the study, this temporary magnified light is what astronomers are searching for. You don't see the bird itself and don't know what color it is — only its shadow,' Maskoliunas said in the statement. 'But from it, you can, with some level of probability, determine whether it was a sparrow or a swan and at what distance from us. It's an incredibly intriguing process.' According to Live Science, there have been nearly 6,000 planets discovered since 1992 using two other more common practices known as transmit photometry and radial velocity. These more common practices will detect planets through host stars becoming dimmer due to said planets. They will also detect the wobble of the planets' gravitational pulls that occur.
