Released in 2002, Tere Naam remains a milestone in Salman Khan's career. But tucked inside its emotional final act was a brief, gut-wrenching scene featuring a silent, beggar woman. That woman? Radhika Choudhary. She barely had screen time, but the weight of her presence left an unforgettable mark. Especially that last emotional exchange with Radhe (Salman), which many still remember.
Where did she disappear after the film?
While Radhika didn't chase Bollywood fame post-Tere Naam, her story quietly took a turn elsewhere. Though out of the limelight, she built her space in the South Indian film industry till 2004, and then took a 6-year break. What followed was unexpected: she moved to Los Angeles and reintroduced herself—not as an actress, but as a filmmaker.
What made her an award-winning filmmaker?
In 2010, she directed a short film titled Orange Blossom in LA, which explored the emotional complexity of a single mother navigating loneliness and misplaced trust. The film was shot in just four days and went on to win the Silver Ace Award at the Las Vegas Film Festival. Usha Kokate played the lead, alongside Jeff Doucette and John Paul Ouvrier.
Did she ever return to mainstream cinema?
Not in front of the camera. But in 2022, she took a significant step back into Hindi films as an executive producer for Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha. Quiet, but present.
What is she doing now?
Radhika, now known more in industry circles than among the masses, continues to work behind the scenes. She's active on Instagram, sharing slices of her current life. She's worked in multiple languages—Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada—and now, she's seen as a quiet powerhouse in the industry.

The Awards, announced for the year 2023 by jury head and filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, recognised Bollywood star Rani Mukerji in the best actress category for "Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway". It is also her career's first National Film Award. "I'm overwhelmed to have won the National Award for my performance in 'Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway'... For me, this award is also a validation of my 30-year body of work, my dedication to my craft with which I feel a deeply spiritual connection and my passion for cinema and this beautiful film industry of ours," Mukerji, 47, said in a statement. Gowariker, who directed Shah Rukh in 2004's 'Swades', said the 59-year-old actor was recognised for 'delivering a powerhouse performance, balancing raw intensity and emotional depth and bringing to life a hero who fights not just enemy but societal boundaries, creating two unforgettable cinema personas'. 'Jawan', which minted over Rs 1,100 crore at the worldwide box office, was a high-octane thriller from south filmmaker Atlee and featured SRK in the dual role of Army officer Vikram Rathore and his jailor son Azad. The filmmaker said it was 'quite historic' that one of the biggest stars of Indian cinema got an award for best acting at the National Film Awards 'after such a long and prolific career'. Shah Rukh is counted amongst the top stars of Indian cinema ever since he made his debut in 1992 with Hindi film 'Deewana'. 'Yes, it is amazing... Him getting (the award) for 'Jawan' is something that is great because he's played a double role in that,' Gowariker told reporters after the announcement. The jury praised Massey's performance as one that portrayed the transformative journey of a village boy with 'raw honesty and emotional depth'. In a statement, Massey, 38, said it was a dream come true moment for him. 'I am eternally grateful to the audiences for honouring my performances and for recommending this film with such love. It is a privilege to be sharing my first National Award with an icon like Shah Rukh Khan,' he added. Filmmaker Karan Johar's 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Kahaani' was named the best popular film providing wholesome entertainment while Meghna Gulzar-directorial 'Sam Bahadur' was recognised as the best film promoting national, social and environmental values. 'I am ecstatic and overwhelmed to win the national award for a film exceptionally close to my heart 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani'. I am grateful to the jury and continue to be humbled by the enormous love the film continues to receive,' Johar, 53, said in a statement. Vaibhavi Merchant won the best choreography award for 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' song 'Dhindhora Baaje'. Shilpa Rao was named best female playback singer for 'Jawan' track 'Chaleya'. A biopic on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, 'Sam Bahadur' was also named in categories for make-up and costume. 'Immense honour and gratitude, there's serenity in me. I know how much my parents particularly my father was missing this (National award) for me. So, for me this is something that has been filled for him. For me that's what makes it so special and for it to happen on 'Sam Bahadur' is all the more special,' Meghna, daughter cinema veterans Gulzar and actor Rakhee, told PTI. Filmmaker Sudipto Sen won the best director award for his film 'The Kerala Story', which also bagged the honour for best cinematography. The film had courted controversy for its portrayal of women in Kerala being forcefully converted and recruited by terror group Islamic State. 'It's a difficult topic, and to convey that with this kind of clarity is something that we as a jury felt was the need to applaud,' Gowariker said when asked why 'The Kerala Story' was chosen for best direction. Sanya Malhotra-starrer 'Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery' was named the best Hindi film. While Hindi cinema ruled in the main categories, regional movies were recognised in categories such as best supporting actor as well as actress and in technical segments. Vijayaraghavan for Malayalam film 'Pookalam', Muthupettai Somu Bhaskar for Tamil film 'Parking' shared the best supporting actor trophy. 'SSMB29' update: No birthday surprise for Mahesh Babu fans as Rajamouli skips traditional release plans

Picture Credit: X It is common practice among South Indian filmmakers to release a motion poster on an actor's birthday as a treat to fans. With superstar Mahesh Babu teaming up with SS Rajamouli for their much-anticipated film, expectations were high that the makers would unveil something special on the 'Guntur Kaaram' actor's birthday. However, this year, it appears that fans will have to wait a little longer. No birthday glimpse this year According to a report by India Today, director SS Rajamouli has taken a deliberate decision to skip the traditional birthday release, focusing instead on building something far more grand in scale and scope. It has been reported that the makers discussed releasing a title teaser or a concept poster for Mahesh 's birthday, but the ace director did not want the release to be rushed just to meet a date for the momentary hype. No mass poster moments SS Rajamouli, after the global success of 'RRR', is reportedly creating an international-level action-adventure film that aims to appeal not just to Telugu cinema fans but to audiences worldwide. It is also said that the film won't be a typical mass film with a poster with fiery eyes and a punchline. The project is still in deep pre-production, with multiple test shoots, costume and makeup trials, and stunt choreography underway. A grand project is in the works While fans may be momentarily disheartened, it is expected to be worth the wait as Rajamouli reportedly has something massive planned for the reveal on his own timeline and wants the first glimpse to shake up not just Indian social media but film conversations worldwide. Alongside Mahesh Babu, 'SSMB29' also stars Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran and is expected to release in 2027.

Competing with fresh new releases Though 'Saiyaara' has remained strong, it now faces new competition. These fresh releases may slow down the momentum of 'Saiyaara', especially going into the weekend. Another strong box office competitor is 'Mahavtar Narsimha', which has been performing well in recent days. As more options enter the theatres, it remains to be seen how 'Saiyaara' will hold its ground. Can it reach Rs 300 crore? With Rs 284.75 crore already in the bag, 'Saiyaara' is now inching closer to the Rs 300 crore mark. While the pace has slightly slowed down, all eyes are on the weekend. If numbers go up again on Saturday and Sunday, the film could very well hit the milestone.
