Remember actress from Tere Naam who played role of a beggar? This is how she looks now, she works as...; Her name is...

Released in 2002, Tere Naam remains a milestone in Salman Khan's career. But tucked inside its emotional final act was a brief, gut-wrenching scene featuring a silent, beggar woman. That woman? Radhika Choudhary. She barely had screen time, but the weight of her presence left an unforgettable mark. Especially that last emotional exchange with Radhe (Salman), which many still remember. Where did she disappear after the film? While Radhika didn't chase Bollywood fame post-Tere Naam, her story quietly took a turn elsewhere. Though out of the limelight, she built her space in the South Indian film industry till 2004, and then took a 6-year break. What followed was unexpected: she moved to Los Angeles and reintroduced herself—not as an actress, but as a filmmaker. What made her an award-winning filmmaker? In 2010, she directed a short film titled Orange Blossom in LA, which explored the emotional complexity of a single mother navigating loneliness and misplaced trust. The film was shot in just four days and went on to win the Silver Ace Award at the Las Vegas Film Festival. Usha Kokate played the lead, alongside Jeff Doucette and John Paul Ouvrier. Did she ever return to mainstream cinema? Not in front of the camera. But in 2022, she took a significant step back into Hindi films as an executive producer for Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha. Quiet, but present. What is she doing now? Radhika, now known more in industry circles than among the masses, continues to work behind the scenes. She's active on Instagram, sharing slices of her current life. She's worked in multiple languages—Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada—and now, she's seen as a quiet powerhouse in the industry.

‘Fans Would Need Ambulance': Netizens Compare Saiyaara Craze With Tere Naam, Sadma

Last Updated: Saiyaara, led by Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has turned out to be a Gen-Z favourite with cinema-goers going crazy over the intense portrayal of love, loss and heartbreak. It's Mohit Suri's world, and we are simply living in it. For those who still can't guess, we are talking about the director's latest offering, Saiyaara. The romantic drama, led by Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has sparked widespread frenzy among movie buffs. The film's portrayal of love and heartbreak has struck a chord with the Gen-Z audience so much that they seem not in themselves anymore: dancing shirtless, screaming in ecstasy, and even watching the film with an IV drip (yes, not kidding) — such visuals across theatres have gone viral. Amid this chaos, millennials aren't staying quiet either. They've jumped into nostalgia with their own hot takes, comparing this generation's Saiyaara to yesteryear's classics like Tere Naam (2003) and Sadma (1983). Tere Naam Headlined by Salman Khan, this Satish Kaushik directorial lingers in our hearts like a scar, never to be healed. The film touched on the topics of love, heartbreak and a soul-crushing loss that made the millennial club cry pools of tears back at that time. Salman's intense performance as Radhe, Himesh Reshammiya's unforgettable music and the tragic ending no one saw coming: Tere Naam is not your typical Romeo-Juliet love story; it is pain wrapped in romance and raw emotions. Reacting to the video, one person said, 'Aura (fire emoji)". Another commented, 'Stop releasing kiddush movies and re-release Tere Naam. Then I will see the madness." 'The heart of kids in today's generation is very weak," pointed out an individual. This user wrote, 'Release it and half of them will be in trauma." Sadma Another tear-jerker, Kamal Haasan and Sridevi's Sadma, will literally leave you in a sadma (trauma). This film creeps into your soul slowly and drills a hole, long after you walk out of the silver screens. Just a short summary: When Sridevi's Nehalata regresses into childhood after a shocking incident, Kamal Haasan's Somu becomes her gentle caretaker, eventually falling in love. But when Nehalata regains her memory, she forgets Somu, leading to one of the most heartbreaking climaxes, perhaps in cinema history, featuring a train sequence that is likely to haunt cinema-goers forever and ever. Decades later, Saiyaara is evoking a similar kind of aching intensity for the new generation. Love it or hate it, Mohit Suri's Saiyaara is impossible to ignore. view comments First Published: July 23, 2025, 13:17 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
