Zendaya's stylist reacts to her viral Met Gala twinning moment
Japanese actor Anna Sawai (' Shogun ') arrived at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 5, in a strikingly similar look to Zendaya's three-piece Louis Vuitton number. Though Sawai's outfit was Dior, it featured the same style of blazer, wide-brimmed hat, button-up shirt and tie as the Oakland native. One of the only notable differences between the two ensembles were the stars' pants — while Zendaya's were flared at the bottom, Sawai's were wide.
Zendaya's longtime stylist and friend, Law Roach, was in the middle of an interview with HelloBeautiful when Sawai hit the carpet and was visibly shocked when he caught a glimpse of her.
'I am dying 'cause she's got on Zendaya's look,' he said in a clip of the interview shared to TikTok. At that point distracted from the conversation, he could be seen smiling but rolling his eyes. 'I'm so glad we came early.'
The twinning moment and the clip of Roach has since gone viral on social media, with many offering up their own opinions and commentary.
'Anna Sawai making history as the first celebrity to accidentally have an identical fit as Zendaya in the same event,' @meltborne quipped on X.
X user @13_Gems_17 opined that 'Zendaya definitely pulled off the suit better, while Anna pulls off the hat better.'
This year's Met Gala theme is also the name of the Met's Costume Institute spring exhibition, which explored the history of Black style and dandyism.
The 'Euphoria' star's outfit is believed to have been referencing both Bianca Jagger's Yves Saint Laurent wedding skirt suit from the '70s and Diana Ross' character in the 1975 Berry Gordy film 'Mahogany.' While Roach confirmed the former on Instagram, Zendaya herself seemed to suggest the latter in her remark, 'She's the reference,' when Ross walked past her on the blue carpet.
Zendaya is engaged to her 'Spider-Man' co-star Tom Holland and, while neither actor has spoken publicly about the development, she has flashed her engagement ring at a number of events since debuting it at the Golden Globe Awards in January. On Monday night, it served as one of a few subtle accessories to complete her look.
While Zendaya is a Met Gala veteran, having attended since 2015 and served as co-chair last year, this year marked Sawwai's first. Luckily, there doesn't seem to be any bad blood between the two stars over the nearly identical looks.
'We can add homage to @zendaya as well,' Welch posted on her story along with a photo of the Emmy winner's look.
A few posts later, she wrote 'Great minds,' over a black screen, tagging Roach.

Okay, so I've had this for a while, but I rarely ever used it. A few weeks ago, I had my makeup professionally done for the first time, and IDK if it was the primer that the artist used, or how my skincare reacted with the primer, but the next day, my skin was red and burning like heck. I was panicking because I just had a breakout in May and am STILL trying to get rid of the hyperpigmentation, so I didn't want the itchy, burning skin to leave me with dark spots. A day later, I remembered I had this and it would help with irritation and redness, so I began spraying it on my face twice a day. I kid you not, my face immediately stopped burning after I began using it. After trying multiple serums and moisturizers, this was the only thing that calmed my skin *and* I only got one dark spot, which wasn't even all that bad. For as long as I can remember, I've been tortured by painful, cystic, ingrown hairs on my bikini line that have made me self-conscious and waxing/shaving a nightmare. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for having discovered the Fur Oil Ingrown Concentrate. I can now get regular Brazilian waxes and not have to suffer from ingrown hairs. I use the regular Fur Oil every day after showering, and then this guy on any ingrowns that appear (much less often now!), and it knocks out all the inflammation before it has a chance to become angry and red. No more scarring or painful cysts, it's honestly like magic. I cannot recommend it more if you've been in the same boat! Between Fur Oil and salicylic acid, my skin is so much happier and healthier." —KatPrice: $34 And an exfoliating soap bar *specifically* to target ingrown hairs, razor bumps, and rough, dry skin. Impurities that lead to clogged hair follicles and irritation? Pfftt, yeah right, not with this around. I think that it will last me awhile." —Maddie $26 An Ilia skin tint with SPF 40 that's like Captain America with a protective SPF *shield* and all. Genius. I have, like, a 13-step skincare routine, so anything that removes a step is an absolute blessssing. Plus, it removes makeup like a *dream*. It feels good on the skin, my oily skin is enjoying it, and it hasn't caused me to break out or have any other annoying skin problems. My face feels fresh, clean, and hydrated. And hydration + oily skin can sometimes = a scary situation, but this doesn't turn me into, how should I put this, the bottom of a bag of Five Guys fries. If this cleanser has a million fans, I'm one of 'em. If this cleanser has one fan, it's me. I'm just $20 A balancing color corrector, because no matter how much concealer you apply, your dark circles *still* are peeking through. It'll help neutralize hyperpigmentation and dark spots, delivering you a more even complexion without standing out under foundation or cracking or creasing. Dave Scott, hip-hop choreographer, is dead at 52
Mr. Scott was anything but a professional. He learned much of what he knew by decoding the moves from Michael Jackson videos and early hip-hop films such as 'Breakin'' (1984). It didn't matter. Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up 'I learned the choreography in two days,' he was quoted as saying in a 2013 article in The New York Post. 'I left school and finished the tour.' Advertisement So much for hoops; Mr. Scott's direction was set. He went on to work as a choreographer for more than 20 films and television shows. His breakout effort was 'You Got Served' (2004), which follows the dance-battle odyssey of a crew of Black teenagers from Los Angeles. Mr. Scott, shown in 2015, started his choreography career by adding moves while part of a group of touring hip-hop dancers. Paul A. Hebert/Paul A. Hebert/Invision/AP The climactic showdown at an MTV dance contest pits them against a posse of white dancers from nearby Orange County with regionally appropriate spiky surf-punk hairstyles. Playing herself as a judge, the hip-hop star Lil' Kim advises the Los Angeles crew, 'Get grimy and dirty -- straight street.' Advertisement That they do. Their performances recalled 'the muscular ballet style pioneered by Gene Kelly and Jerome Robbins,' Dave Kehr wrote in a review in The New York Times, 'except that the pirouettes in this film are more likely to be performed by dancers spinning on their heads than on their toes.' The film, which featured R&B singer Omarion and future 'Family Feud' host Steve Harvey, grossed more than $40 million and broke new ground artistically, Mr. Scott told the Post: 'It was the first time on film you were seeing a mix of B-boys and choreographed dancing in a battle mode.' He also brought his talents to 'Stomp the Yard' (2007), which featured music heavyweights Chris Brown and Ne-Yo and followed the story of a street dancer from Los Angeles (Columbus Short) as he hoofs his way through the fraternity scene at a historically Black college in Atlanta called, yes, Truth University. Among his other notable projects were 'Step Up 2: The Streets' (2008), about a teenage dancer (Briana Evigan) trying to balance her troubled youth with life at an elite arts school, and the 3D dance film 'Battle of the Year' (2013), which also featured him as a dancer, about an American B-boy team going for victory at the international competition of the same name. David Lee Scott Jr. was born Aug. 15, 1972, in Los Angeles, the eldest of four children of David Lee Scott Sr., a plumber, and Evelyn (Rader) Scott. He graduated from Compton High School in 1990. Growing up in the city in South Central Los Angeles made famous by N.W.A.'s landmark 1989 gangster rap album 'Straight Outta Compton' came with clear challenges. But, he said, 'I think being from the hood strengthens your mind and you have to determine the direction that you want to go in life.' Growing up, he never thought of dancing as a career option. 'Back in the day when we started breaking,' he said, 'it was fun and nobody was like, 'I want to do this for a living.'' His thoughts had turned toward choreography even when dancing for Rob Base. 'I just started adding pieces of choreography to the tour,' he said in a 2008 interview with 'But, really, I have always been, from the time I started to dance, more of a creator, a choreographer.' Along the way, he worked on tours with rapper Bow Wow (then known as Lil' Bow Wow), R&B star Brian McKnight, and others, served as a guest choreographer on ABC's 'Dancing With the Stars' and as a choreographer on 17 episodes of Fox reality show 'So You Think You Can Dance.' He also formed boy band B2K, featuring Omarion, and worked with another, Mindless Behavior. In addition to his son Neko, Mr. Scott leaves his fiancée, Natalie Casanova; his parents; another son, Cy; two sisters, Antoinette Scott-Mays and Tamesha Scott; a daughter, Jasmine Scott; and a granddaughter. Although he said he had never taken so much as a dance lesson, Mr. Scott took his craft seriously. 'A lot of people feel like they can get up off their couch and just do hip-hop,' he told 'But in actuality, if you don't know the basics, where it came from, then you're stuck. You gotta know the core before you can groove it out.' Advertisement This article originally appeared in

The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity: Everything you need to know about the anime
By Aman Shukla Published on July 6, 2025, 17:30 IST Last updated July 6, 2025, 10:09 IST Alright, anime fans, buckle up! 'The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity' (or Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku if you're feeling fancy) is the romantic comedy you didn't know you needed in 2025. This gem, based on Saka Mikami's hit manga, dropped in July and has folks swooning over its sweet story and gorgeous visuals. Whether you're a die-hard romance fan or just dipping your toes into anime, here's the lowdown on Season 1—release dates, plot and everything you need to know. When Can You Watch It? The show hit Japanese screens on July 5, 2025, at 12:30 AM JST on channels like Tokyo MX and BS11. For those of us outside Japan, Netflix is where it's at. It started streaming in some Asian countries on July 13, 2025, and, as Netflix confirmed, it'll land in the United States and several non-Asian countries on September 7, 2025. Season 1 has 13 episodes—short enough to devour in a weekend but long enough to get you hooked. No English dub yet, so you'll be watching with Japanese audio and subtitles. If you're outside Netflix's reach, sites like AniWatch might have it, but check your region. What's the Story? Picture two high schools that are total opposites. Chidori High is a boys' school full of rough-around-the-edges types who aren't exactly acing their exams. Right next door is Kikyo Girls' High, where the students are all about class and prestige. These schools don't get along—like, at all. Mixing with the other side is basically a scandal. Now meet Rintaro Tsumugi, a Chidori guy who looks like he could star in a gangster flick but is actually a sweetheart who bakes at his family's patisserie. One day, Kaoruko Waguri, a bubbly Kikyo girl with a serious cake obsession, walks into the shop and orders enough pastries to feed a soccer team. Their random encounter turns into a friendship, then something more, as they dodge their schools' rivalry and nosy classmates. It's a story about looking past labels, finding your people, and maybe sneaking a few extra desserts along the way. Who's in the Cast? The voice actors are killing it, bringing these characters to life: Rintaro Tsumugi (voiced by Yoshinori Nakayama): The tough guy with a heart of gold. Nakayama's got credits in Fire Force , so he's perfect for Rintaro's soft side. (voiced by Yoshinori Nakayama): The tough guy with a heart of gold. Ayato Yorita (voiced by Hiiro Ishibashi): Another Chidori buddy in the mix. (voiced by Hiiro Ishibashi): Another Chidori buddy in the mix. Subaru Hoshina (voiced by Aya Yamane): A Kikyo girl who adds some spice to the group. The side characters are so well done, you'll be just as invested in them as the main couple. What to Expect in Season 1 The first episode, called 'Rintaro and Kaoruko,' kicks things off with their adorable bakery meet-up. The season's likely to cover the first 40 chapters of the manga, wrapping up around a big summer festival moment that'll have you grinning like a fool. Over 13 episodes, you'll see their romance grow, their schools clash, and the side characters steal the show, all while leaving room for a possible Season 2.
