Will supersub Fyfe be unleashed against the Blues?
Fyfe missed the start of the season as he built back from knee surgery, then missed more time with a hamstring tear before making his AFL return in round 12 as the sub.
The 33-year-old managed just three games before straining his calf while warming up as the sub at halftime of the round 16 win over St Kilda.
Fyfe is now ready to return to playing duties, and a comeback via the WAFL is one viable option.
But Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir is also weighing up whether to bring Fyfe back as the sub for Sunday's clash with Carlton at Optus Stadium.
Longmuir pulled the same move when Fyfe was ready to return from his hamstring injury earlier this year.
"He offers us a lot as the sub, with his leadership, his maturity, his calm presence on the bench," Longmuir said of Fyfe, who is coming out of contract and is no certainty to play on next year.
"And he's been able to come on as the sub and impact through the middle of the game with his experience, role play and contest work.
"I'm open to a variety of different roles Fyfe can play, but the No.1 thing is to get is body right and confidence in his body.
"It's about making sure we build his footy and confidence in his body so he can really make the most of the last period of the season."
In a perfect world, Fyfe would come on at three-quarter time against Carlton to add some late impact.
But Longmuir knows playing Fyfe as the sub in his first game back comes with risks.
"If you get an injury in the first quarter, can that player hold up for three quarters? That's always a consideration," Longmuir said.
"There's a balance of what Fyfey needs and what the team needs.
"He needs to be fit and confident in his body and game."
Skipper Alex Pearce is also a chance to return after recovering from a lingering hot spot in his shin.
Pearce was sidelined for five weeks with the injury, returned against Sydney in round 17, before being sidelined again for the next three weeks after experiencing a flare-up from that game.
"I'm more confident than last time. I can't say 100 per cent though," Longmuir replied when asked about the risks of a recurrence.
"There's always a risk, but I feel like he's done the work and is in a good spot.
"I think we've probably been a little bit more conservative this time, so it should hold him in good stead."

Meanwhile, defender Kyle Worner has signed a two-year contract extension, tying him to Fremantle until the end of 2027.
The seventh-placed Dockers (13-6) have won nine of their past 10 games to be just percentage adrift of fourth spot with four games remaining.

McRae won't push panic button on Magpies' form slump
Collingwood coach Craig McRae is not concerned by the Magpies' dip in form and will resist the urge to conduct a brutal review in what he described as their worst performance since March. With three games before finals, Collingwood (15-5) will end the weekend off the top of the ladder for the first time since round nine after losing to reigning premiers Brisbane by 27 points at the MCG on Saturday night. Trailing by just a point at the main break, the Magpies' midfield was bullied by the Lions in the second half, losing clearances 31-13 over the final two quarters. "It hasn't been a pattern for us, our contest has been really strong the last weeks," McRae said. "Brisbane apparently had a stern and honest session about their contest stuff (after being thrashed by Gold Coast). "I said (to the Collingwood players), 'do you need that from me? Do you want?' "I don't think we need that, we've got a lot of trust in our group." Collingwood started their season by being smashed by GWS, suffering a 52-point loss. The Magpies have lost another four games since, but McRae believes that was their worst performance of the lot. They slammed through five goals to Brisbane's two during a dominant second term, but were unable to deliver anything close to their best in the other three quarters. Collingwood haven't beaten a current top-eight team since they crushed Hawthorn on May 30. "If you're a Collingwood supporter at home, you'd think we played probably as bad as we've played since round zero (against the Giants)," McRae said. "That's real, but that would be disrespecting Brisbane's hunt and pressure. "I actually sent the runner out three times to say 'can we kick the ball?'. "You can hear the supporters, 'can you kick it?', and they cheered us when we kicked the ball." McRae is not interested in comparing this slide to what Collingwood experienced in 2023 before winning the premiership. The Magpies lost three out of four games late in the season, recovering to peak in finals. The positive to come out of their first loss to the Lions at the MCG since 2014 was the returns of Jordan De Goey and Bobby Hill. De Goey was lively, kicking a long-range goal in the second quarter, before being subbed out in the third term due to playing his first game since May 3. Hill, who has missed a month due to personal reasons, started as the sub and replaced De Goey, taking a hanger and slotting a goal in the last quarter. "It's the long game for those two guys, they're huge, important games when they're fit and well," McRae said. Collingwood will enter Thursday night's clash with Hawthorn coming off a five-day break. But premiership star Jeremy Howe could be fit to slot into a defence badly missing his experience. Young Lions forward Logan Morris kicked a career-best six goals, two weeks after Fremantle's Patrick Voss did the same in a close win against the Magpies.

The Brisbane Lions have responded from a QClash debacle to knock off Collingwood by 27 points in a potential grand final preview in front of 82,326 fans. Gulden leads Swans to win over Bombers in 100th game
Sydney have handed Essendon a ninth consecutive loss, defeating the Bombers by 14 points in a scrappy contest in slippery conditions at the SCG. Swans superstar Errol Gulden kicked the first goal of the game in his 100th AFL match, and the Swans were never headed thereafter, cruising to a 9.14 (68) to 7.12 (54) win on Saturday.
