Disney holds ‘crisis talks' after Jared Leto sexual misconduct report threatens to derail release of movie Tron: Ares

DISNEY has found itself scrambling to organize the promotion of Jared Leto's new movie amid historic claims of sexual impropriety, an insider has exclusively told The U.S. Sun.
Leto, 53, has been accused by nine women, including some who were teenagers at the time.

Model Laura La Rue was among the accusers who said she was just 16 when the star, then 36, began flirting through messages and once emerged from a room at his house naked, according to a damming Air Mail report in early June.
Recalling the alleged experience at his house, she said, "I thought maybe this was just what adult men do."
Leto's reps denied any wrongdoing, saying, "Their communications contain nothing sexual or inappropriate and Ms La Rue later applied to work as his personal assistant."
La Rue denied she ever applied for the job, according to AirMail.
He is not being sued or charged with any crime, but the report has thrown a wrench in the works when it comes to promoting his latest films.
The Oscar-winning actor has two big-budget films being released in the coming months at Disney and Amazon MGM, Tron: Ares and Masters of the Universe.
Ahead of Tron's release in October, Disney is scheduled to host a panel at San Diego ComicCon at the end of July, The Wrap reported, although it's not known whether or not Leto will appear on it.
"Jared wants it to be business as usual ahead of the release of his new movie, but Disney is nervous about the promotion of Tron," an insider exclusively told The U.S. Sun.
"The accusations of sexual misconduct couldn't have come at a worse time.
"The marketing team has been having crisis meetings ahead of its theatrical release in October.

"Disney is planning to host a panel at San Diego ComicCon to push Tron: Ares and Jared has made it known that he's happy to be on it.
"He doesn't want to hide away having denied the allegations and not only is he the lead, he's one of the producers.
"Talks are still ongoing about how to handle the situation, but he will likely take part in some capacity and hold his head high.
"He is not being sued civilly and he isn't being charged with a crime, if he were I think things would be a lot different."

Leto took to the stage to speak about Tron: Ares during CinemaCon 2025 in Las Vegas on April 3, 2025, just two months before the report was published by AirMail.
One woman speaking to the outlet claimed his behavior "has been an open secret for a long time."
The U.S. Sun's source added, "Disney may still have to cut its losses on this one but will still do what it can to promote the movie and create a buzz."
Neither Disney nor a representative for Leto responded to a request for comment.
San Diego Comic-Con runs from July 24 to 27. Tron is scheduled to be released in theaters on October 10.
The movie also Jodie Turner-Smith, Greta Lee, Cameron Monaghan, and Jeff Bridges.
And although a big-budget movie usually comes with TV and print interview slots for its lead star and a social media push, there has been no marketing since the initial trailer was released in April.
Leto is also set to appear in Masters of the Universe, which is scheduled for release in June 2026, although he is not the lead character in the live-action feature film.
The actor has been cast as Skeletor, the primary antagonist to Nicholas Galitzine's He-Man, according to reports.
Leto is also the frontman of the rock band Thirty Seconds To Mars, which is on tour until the end of the summer.
He has played major roles in several movies, including The Joker in Suicide Squad, and won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Dallas Buyers Club.

With new footage that has yet to air, a surprise announcement and the usual drama, there's plenty of twists and turns ahead no doubt, hosted by Nick Viall and starring some of the show favourites. Also coming very soon, July 23, is limited new series Washington Black. Based on the bestselling novel with the same name, the series, according to Disney Plus' synopsis, "follows the 19th-century odyssey of George Washington 'Wash' Black, an eleven-year-old boy born on a Barbados sugar plantation, whose prodigious scientific mind sets him on a path of unexpected destiny." The youngster is thrust into a globe-spanning adventure that "challenges and reshapes his understanding of family, freedom and love" after a harrowing incident at the start of the series. The synopsis continues: "As he navigates uncharted lands and impossible odds, Wash finds the courage to imagine a future beyond the confines of the society he was born into." Its cast includes Sterling K. Brown, Ernest Kingsley Jr., Eddie Karanja, Tom Ellis and Sharon Duncan-Brewster. Also coming soon is National Geographic series JAWS @ 50, arriving on July 11. A documentary celebrating the hit film 50 years after it launched in Hollywood, featuring director Steven Spielberg. The inside story will "chart the extraordinary journey from Peter Benchley's bestselling novel to one of the most iconic films ever made". There's behind-the-scenes footage, rare archival footage and interviews, as well as comment from top shark scientists. This is certainly one for Jaws fans, or anyone interested in film... or even sharks. Chris Hemsworth's Limitless series is returning with another instalment soon too, with a date not yet revealed. Titled Limitless: Live Better Now, the series will "will delve into a series of physical and mental obstacles that people across the world face daily". Chris will apparently be pushed to "explore and grow" like never before, travelling to the ends of the Earth to check out some of the world's best-kept secrets to a better life, while checking out the latest science too. The final upcoming series, arriving on 11 July, is ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires. The fourth instalment of the movie series sees Zed and Addison take an unexpected detour on a road trip, landing them amid a monster rivalry. This time tensions will flare as it's Daywalkers vs Vampires, with the characters having to do what they can to convince sworn enemies to unite to take down an even bigger threat. There's plenty of summer content already up on the streaming platform too, including Spanish original series I, Addict, National Geographic series Underdogs and David Attenborough's latest series, Ocean. If that isn't enough, Disney's live action remake of Snow White is ready to stream, as well as new action and science fiction series Predator: Killer of Killers, while Marvel's latest show Ironheart is ready to watch too. In this series, set after the events of the movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, a young, genius inventor named Riri Williams is ready to make her mark on the world, only to get caught up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins, known as 'The Hood'. There's also a new season of hit animation Phineas & Ferb, which sees the crew tackle another 104 days of summer and are set for exciting new adventures featuring some unforgettable milestones. The synopsis read: "The boys will break several world records, Candace will take her driver's license test, and Perry will finally make a trip to the vet!" Finally, fans waiting for the latest season of hit series The Bear are in luck too as this is now on the platform. As it kicks off, the characters are "pushing forward, determined not only to survive, but also to take The Bear to the next level." The synopsis reads: "With new challenges around every corner, the team must adapt, adjust and overcome. This season, the pursuit of excellence isn't just about getting better – it's about deciding what's worth holding on to."

A close second to top-class stayer Trueshan in 2023, Andrew Balding's charge could finish only ninth 12 months ago and went off at 25-1 on this latest visit to Gosforth Park for a race affectionately known as the 'Pitmen's Derby'. Bred in the purple as a son of Frankel and owner Jeff Smith's Group One-winning mare Arabian Queen, Spirit Mixer was delivered with his challenge in the home straight and knuckled down to get the better Dancing In Paris by a neck under a delighted Rob Hornby, who travelled north for a solitary ride. Spirit Mixer comes out on top in the Northumberland Plate!
