Disney Plus shows to watch this summer - Ironheart, The Bear and more
Disney Plus new shows and series have been revealed for summer 2025, including new Marvel series Ironheart, The Bear season 4, Washington Black and Ocean with David Attenborough
With UK temperatures reaching huge heights some of us wanting to hide away in doors, Disney Plus has all you need.
With a new summer line-up of shows including new seasons of some fan favourites, new Disney shows and some new additions from elsewhere, there's something for everyone. We have a new Marvel show, season four of a hit favourite and some nature too, as well as some thrillers, animation and intriguing new entrainment.
Of course not everyone wants to stay indoors with summer finally here, so there's always the option of watching some classics or the new and latest additions to Disney Plus on the go. For those who are hiding out from the heat, there's plenty to stream on the big screen.
Arriving in August, there's FX's Alien: Earth which sees a space research vessel crash-land on Earth. It leads to a group of tactical soldiers making a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet's greatest threat.
It's the year 2120, and humans are living beside cyborgs and synthetics - but a new technological advancement changes everything as hybrids are created, marking a new dawn in the race for immortality. As the series goes on, the hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.

Viewers can see this series on August 13. Also coming soon is the third part of Abbot Elementary season four. The workplace comedy following a group of dedicated, passionate teachers in a public school in Philadelphia, and a slightly tone-deaf principal, continues with seven new episodes on July 2.
As ever there's drama and comedy and plenty to keep you watching. On July 1, fans of the hit show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives will get to watch the reunion special. After a shocking end to the second series, secrets and scandals will apparently come to the forefront of the special episode when it drops next week.
With new footage that has yet to air, a surprise announcement and the usual drama, there's plenty of twists and turns ahead no doubt, hosted by Nick Viall and starring some of the show favourites. Also coming very soon, July 23, is limited new series Washington Black.
Based on the bestselling novel with the same name, the series, according to Disney Plus' synopsis, "follows the 19th-century odyssey of George Washington 'Wash' Black, an eleven-year-old boy born on a Barbados sugar plantation, whose prodigious scientific mind sets him on a path of unexpected destiny."
The youngster is thrust into a globe-spanning adventure that "challenges and reshapes his understanding of family, freedom and love" after a harrowing incident at the start of the series. The synopsis continues: "As he navigates uncharted lands and impossible odds, Wash finds the courage to imagine a future beyond the confines of the society he was born into."
Its cast includes Sterling K. Brown, Ernest Kingsley Jr., Eddie Karanja, Tom Ellis and Sharon Duncan-Brewster. Also coming soon is National Geographic series JAWS @ 50, arriving on July 11. A documentary celebrating the hit film 50 years after it launched in Hollywood, featuring director Steven Spielberg.
The inside story will "chart the extraordinary journey from Peter Benchley's bestselling novel to one of the most iconic films ever made". There's behind-the-scenes footage, rare archival footage and interviews, as well as comment from top shark scientists.
This is certainly one for Jaws fans, or anyone interested in film... or even sharks. Chris Hemsworth's Limitless series is returning with another instalment soon too, with a date not yet revealed.
Titled Limitless: Live Better Now, the series will "will delve into a series of physical and mental obstacles that people across the world face daily". Chris will apparently be pushed to "explore and grow" like never before, travelling to the ends of the Earth to check out some of the world's best-kept secrets to a better life, while checking out the latest science too.
The final upcoming series, arriving on 11 July, is ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires. The fourth instalment of the movie series sees Zed and Addison take an unexpected detour on a road trip, landing them amid a monster rivalry.
This time tensions will flare as it's Daywalkers vs Vampires, with the characters having to do what they can to convince sworn enemies to unite to take down an even bigger threat. There's plenty of summer content already up on the streaming platform too, including Spanish original series I, Addict, National Geographic series Underdogs and David Attenborough's latest series, Ocean.
If that isn't enough, Disney's live action remake of Snow White is ready to stream, as well as new action and science fiction series Predator: Killer of Killers, while Marvel's latest show Ironheart is ready to watch too. In this series, set after the events of the movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, a young, genius inventor named Riri Williams is ready to make her mark on the world, only to get caught up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins, known as 'The Hood'.
There's also a new season of hit animation Phineas & Ferb, which sees the crew tackle another 104 days of summer and are set for exciting new adventures featuring some unforgettable milestones. The synopsis read: "The boys will break several world records, Candace will take her driver's license test, and Perry will finally make a trip to the vet!"
Finally, fans waiting for the latest season of hit series The Bear are in luck too as this is now on the platform. As it kicks off, the characters are "pushing forward, determined not only to survive, but also to take The Bear to the next level." The synopsis reads: "With new challenges around every corner, the team must adapt, adjust and overcome. This season, the pursuit of excellence isn't just about getting better – it's about deciding what's worth holding on to."

The best Marvel superhero video games you can play right now
GameCentral runs through all the Marvel inspired video games that are not only fantastic, but easily playable on modern platforms. It's never been a better time to be both a Marvel fan and a gamer. Disney's approach to licensing the Marvel universe to outside studios has not only led to multiple Marvel games a year, but plenty of very good ones too. By using a multitude of different developers, Disney has increased the chances of a good game, while also matching different ideas and characters to the teams that best suit them. Admittedly, this hasn't always translated into sales successes. For as popular as the brand is, most Marvel games, even the better ones, don't print as much money as you'd think and there have been a couple of infamously big flops in recent memory, including the Square Enix Avengers game. Despite the failures, Disney and Marvel don't seem to have been encouraged to play things safe. If anything, they're more eager than ever to branch out. Just look at what's in store for the future, with a Second World War action game starring Captain America and Black Panther, a retro inspired 2D beat 'em up in Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and the very Japanese fighting game Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. But for now, these are the best modern Marvel video games that you can play today, on console or PC. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. You can usually expect a fun time from the Lego games by Traveller's Tales, but the two Lego Marvel Super Heroes games are amongst the studio's best work. Ironic considering it's owned by Disney rival Warner Bros. While both games are typically geared towards younger players, as evidenced by the uncomplex gameplay, their massive rosters of mainstream and obscure characters will delight Marvel fans of all ages. The second one in particular doubles down on more niche heroes and is our favourite, if only for having an entire Squirrel Girl-based story mission. Both games are easily available on all current platforms, though do be careful not to accidentally grab Lego Avengers, which is directly based on the movies and is far less fun and with a much smaller roster of characters. We've still yet to see anything of EA Motive's Iron Man game but, in the meantime, the 2020 Iron Man game from Camouflaj (which also did the excellent Batman: Arkham Shadow) is well worth checking out… so long as you have a PlayStation VR or Meta Quest headset Its extremely lengthy load times and lack of enemy variety hold it back from being a killer app for PlayStation VR (the Meta Quest port came a couple years later) but the combat, while sometimes repetitive, is a lot of fun and flying through the air works very well in VR. The whole thing also has a surprisingly solid story, and some decent jokes, and shows a good understand of Tony Stark as a character, making the experience more than just a glorified arcade shooter. Square Enix's Avengers live service game meant many weren't exactly jumping for joy when the company announced it would be tackling the Guardians Of The Galaxy, although Deus Ex studio Eidos-Montréal leading development was encouraging. The game wasn't a big financial hit, but that's not indicative of its quality. Unlike Avengers, Guardians Of The Galaxy focuses on a single-player story driven adventure, offering tightly designed, tactical action and some stunning sci-fi visuals. It also isn't constrained by the movies, opting to tell an original story that's far more personal than you might expect, as it tackles the topics of loss and dealing with grief. One thing it does draw from the movies, though, is an excellent 80s inspired soundtrack full of almost every iconic hit from the era you can think of. Marvel Cosmic Invasion (2025) – an original 2D beat 'em up by the studio responsible for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, at the very least the graphics won't disappoint on this one. – an original 2D beat 'em up by the studio responsible for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, at the very least the graphics won't disappoint on this one. Nothing's really known about it, but its choice of writer has us hopeful for a Squirrel Girl cameo. Marvel's Blade (TBA) – Aside from a new Blade movie that's still in limbo, Marvel wants to bump up the vampire hunter's profile with a video game from Dishonored and Deathloop studio Arkane. Despite being published by the Microsoft owned Bethesda, you can bet this will release for Xbox and PlayStation. Like Guardians Of The Galaxy, Midnight Suns was a big flop, and another example of how the Marvel licence doesn't automatically guarantee huge sales. However, this one's failure is even more tragic in our eyes as it's an excellent tactical strategy game from Firaxis, the studio behind XCOM, and led to several high profile exits when it flopped. The story's nothing special and the basic graphics make it hard for characters to sell all the melodrama. But its battle system, which makes use of deckbuilding mechanics, is superb, particularly in how it interprets the many heroes at your disposal. There's a great deal of depth and customisation that makes Midnight Suns perfect for hardcore strategy nuts, but the game's not so unapproachable as to ward off casual comic fans, offering the right balance so anyone of any skill level can enjoy themselves to the fullest. Overwatch but with Marvel superheroes may sound reductive but it is an accurate description of Marvel Rivals. Not that developer NetEase Games should be offended by the comparison, since it's not only a brilliant idea but Marvel Rivals is arguably better than in its inspiration and offers some real competition in the hero shooter market. It does a good job at translating its cast of heroes and villains into a third person shooter setting, despite most of them lacking guns or traditional firearms, and combined with its stylish and fluid visuals, casual sessions with friends are always a hoot. There are signs that Marvel Rivals is struggling with player retention at the moment, due to poor matchmaking and festering toxicity, and it does have some typical live service game traits that can be off-putting (like its many microtransactions). But NetEase has been churning out new content on the regular, so you'll never need to wait long for new characters (all of which are free) and maps. There was no way we could write this list and not include the three best Spider-Man video games, all of which come from Insomniac Games and are perfect examples of why people come to PlayStation for its big budget single-player adventures. None of these games are particularly original when it comes to the superhero genre, and they are guilty of cribbing a lot from both Spider-Man 2 and the Batman: Arkham games, but web-swinging through the open world city of New York remains a thrill and it's hard not to be taken with their incredible graphics and oodles of side content. Of the three, the Miles Morales game still has the best story, in our opinion, though the 2023 sequel's fantastic set pieces and interpretation of iconic baddie Venom make it the new bar all future Spider-Man games need to meet. What is there to say about the Marvel Vs. Capcom games that hasn't already been said? This unusual yet iconic franchise is perhaps second only to Super Smash Bros. as the quintessential example of how to do a crossover video game. More Trending Frankly, there's not a single bad game of the bunch, with even Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite still a fantastic fighter despite its dull graphics and roster. Our heart will always belong to Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 though, for its huge selection of 56 characters and irreverent flair. Every game in the series is also easily playable nowadays thanks to the old retro entries being compiled in last year's Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection; while the PC port of Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 (the one with Ace Attorney's Phoenix Wright as a playable fighter) still has an active modding scene on PC. The older games aren't as approachable as the modern entries, but you're spoilt for choice regardless, especially as the rosters of heroes, on both sides, is quite different in each game. Disney+ announces reboot of legendary dating show, along with reality series The Rooneys exploring Wayne and Coleen's relationship 'like never before'
Disney+ has announced the reboot of a legendary dating show along with a new reality series set to explore Wayne and Coleen Rooney 's relationship 'like never before'. Blind Date was famously hosted by the late Cilla Black from 1985 to 2003 and now the show will return to screens 'bigger, better, and bolder than ever'. The new ten-part series will start in a secret location and contestants will be faced with the choice between three potential suitors who will be hidden away behind the legendary 'Blind Date' wall. Disney+ promises 'head-turning' twists as the couples spend the summer living together, and production is set to begin later this year. The iconic British game show originally saw a contestant question three potential dates hidden behind a screen – which would then slide back to reveal their chosen match. Though not yet officially confirmed, it was previously reported the new version will take place on a tropical island, just like ITV 's Love Island, hosted by Maya Jama – with contestants battling it out for a dream wedding on golden sands. A TV insider previously told The Sun: 'This sounds like a radical departure from the old Blind Date, one that definitely has hints of Love Island about it. 'But fans will recall a lot of the dates took place in hot, sunny climes abroad, and producers want to recapture some of the steamy fun, and expand upon that. 'Even the wedding element has hints of the old show because the dream was always that the dates on the programme would lead to couples tying the knot.' Meanwhile, Disney has also announced a new premium access series titled The Rooneys, and filming is already underway. The ten part doc-series will delve into the footballer and WAG's lives 'like we've never seen them before'. It is set to see Coleen tackle 'new entrepreneurial endeavours' and Wayne stepping away from the football pitch to do school runs. The new show has 'unprecedented access' into their world and dives into their everyday life, including highs like holidays and celebrations as well as the lows. Disney+ has also announced a third new programme, Jamie and Sophie: Raising Chelsea. The ten part doc-series will delve into the footballer and WAG's lives 'like we've never seen them before' With filming already commencing, it is set to follow Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo as they embark on the journey of parenthood together. The couple said: 'For nearly a decade, we've brought audiences along the highs and lows of our personal and professional lives through TV, radio, social media and our podcasts. 'It's such an honour to now partner with the incredible teams at Disney+ and Dorothy St Pictures to bring our next chapter to viewers across the globe. 'Navigating our lives with a baby on the way has opened up a whole new stage of our relationship – we can't wait to give you a front row seat!' Disney+ boss Sean Doyle said: 'We've seen great success over the past couple of years with our Disney+ Original unscripted series such as 'Finding Michael', 'Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story', 'Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story' and more recently, 'Flintoff'. 'Our distinctive offering of combining the most talked-about household names and their incredible life experiences has hit the right note with our audiences who are looking for authentic and captivating real-life stories. 'As our slate evolves, we want to continue working with world-class producers and homegrown talent in the reality space, with a focus on female-skewed factual. 'These shows will complement our existing and iconic reality offering from our US studio partners, including The Kardashians and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. 'We're really grateful to be working with the Rooney's again, along with Jamie and Sophie for the first time, and Blind Date is a brilliant opportunity to bring everyone's favourite dating show to a large scale with the potential to resonate with a whole new generation.'
