Sultan of Pahang, Tengku Ampuan Pahang extend condolences over death of 9 FRU members
The royal couple, in a post on Facebook today, said the loss of the national heroes was not only felt by their families and colleagues, but also touched the hearts of all the people and members of the security forces who are always dedicated to their duties.
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of all the national heroes who have sacrificed their lives and shown high commitment in carrying out their duties as security personnel," they said.
Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah also prayed that the souls of all of them be blessed by Allah SWT and placed among the believers.
"May their families be blessed with fortitude, strength and divine protection in facing this very difficult moment," according to the post.
The incident occurred around 8.50am when a truck carrying 18 FRU personnel was returning to Ipoh from an assignment in Teluk Intan and was rammed by the gravel-laden lorry along Jalan Chikus – Sungai Lampam.
Nine FRU personnel were killed in the crash, two were seriously injured, and seven others sustained minor injuries
The final honours for nine FRU personnel were held in accordance with police ceremonial protocols at the FRU Unit 5 base in Sungai Senam here at 3.46 am today.
The caskets, draped with the Jalur Gemilang, arrived at the ceremony from the Hilir Perak district police headquarters, accompanied by full police honours.
More than 500 people, comprising next of kin and police personnel, gathered to witness the final farewell for the fallen heroes before the remains were then transported to their respective hometowns for burial.

Govt moots purchase of 16 new buses for FRU after fatal crash

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : The home ministry has proposed the procurement of 16 new buses with a capacity of 44 passengers each for the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) following the crash in May that claimed the lives of nine FRU personnel. Home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the buses would be used by the FRU for general use and long-distance travel. In a written parliamentary reply, Saifuddin said the ministry proposed that funds be allocated to procure the buses under the 13th Malaysia Plan. He also said the ministry has proposed customising existing FRU vehicles to ensure they fit the set safety specifications, as well as the installation of additional safety components like dash cameras. 'The police are holding discussions with various stakeholders concerning improvements to SOPs (involving the transportation of FRU personnel). 'The date of implementation of the new SOPs will be set once the procedures are finalised and approved by the police force's leadership,' he said. Those who died were S Perumal, 44, Roslan Abd Rahim, 46, Pozli Jaudin, 41, Nurit Pandak, 34, Amiruddin Zabri, 38, Hilmi Azlan, 38, Akmal Muhamad, 35, Damarrulan Abdul Latif, 33, and Akmal Wafi Annuar, 28. The 45-year-old lorry driver, Rudi Zulkarnain Mat Radi, was charged on May 16 with nine counts of causing death by reckless driving. He claimed trial to all the charges. A preliminary report by the task force investigating the crash also found that the tipper lorry was carrying 40,960kg of gravel, exceeding the permitted limit of 24,000kg by 70.67%.
