Creedence Clearwater Revival's Chart Comeback Includes Both Albums And Songs

UNSPECIFIED - CIRCA 1970: Photo of Creedence Clearwater Revival Photo by MichaelConsidering the fact that Creedence Clearwater Revival only released albums for about half a decade, the legacy the band has left behind is much greater than many other acts that were together for much longer. The rockers almost always hold space on the charts in the United States, appearing sometimes on Billboard tallies dedicated to albums and other times landing on lists that focus on songs as well.
This week, Creedence Clearwater Revival returns not only to multiple rankings, but appears on different tallies with a pair of hugely successful titles.
The band reappears highest on the Top Album Sales chart, the weekly list of the bestselling full-lengths and EPs throughout America. On that ranking, the group comes in at No. 50 with Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits. That set, which previously topped out at No. 10, has now spent well over a decade as one of the bestselling releases in the country, and it casually slips away and then reappears with regularity.
In the past tracking frame throughout the U.S., Chronicle sold just over 2,000 copies, according to Luminate.
Chronicle's performance on the Billboard charts is mixed this frame. As it returns to the Top Album Sales list, it rises on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums tally, holds steady on the Top Rock Albums ranking, and declines slightly on the Billboard 200.
Just one of Creedence Clearwater Revival's tracks appears on a Billboard chart — and only barely. "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" reenters the Billboard Global 200 as it officially becomes one of the 200 most-consumed tracks all around the world. The cut narrowly manages to find space on the list, breaking back in at No. 199.
If it can hold on just a while longer — only two more weeks — "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" will become Creedence Clearwater Revival's first track to spend a full year on the Billboard Global 200. One of just two tunes by the band to appear anywhere on the list, it already stands as the group's highest-rising win, having peaked at No. 92. Only "Fortunate Son" has also landed on the list, and it only spent one frame in second-to-last place in the summer of 2024 before disappearing.

Fans Choose Mariah The Scientist & Kali Uchis' ‘Is It a Crime' as This Week's Favorite New Music

'Is It a Crime,' the new duet from Mariah The Scientist and Kali Uchis, tops this week's fan-voted music poll. Music fans voted in a poll published Friday (Aug. 1) on Billboard, choosing the pair's fresh collaboration as their favorite new release of the past week. More from Billboard Jelly Roll Brings Grit & Heart to In-Ring Debut at WWE SummerSlam 2025 Jerry Garcia Has Childhood Street Named for Him in San Francisco Cardi B Kicks Off Night One of WWE SummerSlam 2025: 'We're Making History Tonight' 'Is It a Crime' rose above a plethora of new releases — among them, songs from hitmakers like Demi Lovato, Chappell Roan, Reneé Rapp and more. Mariah and Kali's collab track topped the poll by a landslide, bringing in more than 57% of the vote. 'Is It a Crime,' a slow jam that has the two artists singing about the return of a past love — and defending the relationship if anyone's got anything to say about it — dropped on July 31, with spicy, jail-themed single art. ('very intentional, very grown woman,' Uchis commented of their shoot on Instagram.) The chorus of the song says it all: 'And so what? I fell, you fell in love a couple times/ Tell me, what's it to ya? Tell me, is it a crime/ To fall, to fall in love, in love a couple times?/ Tell me, what's it to ya? Tell me, is it a crime to fall?' Among the new releases trailing behind 'Is It a Crime' on this week's poll are Demi Lovato's 'Fast,' coming in with 17% of the vote; Chappell Roan's 'The Subway,' with 16% of the vote, and Reneé Rapp's 'Bite Me,' with 2% of the vote. BTS Matches Taylor Swift In A Rare Chart Feat

Live albums are not uncommon, especially in today's world where the technology to record performances and concerts is more readily accessible and easier to use than ever. But for most artists, recording and releasing live sets doesn't typically lead to major success on the Billboard charts. Live albums rarely perform as well as studio efforts, and it's relatively uncommon for one to break into the top 10 on the Billboard 200, the chart company's most competitive ranking of EPs and full-lengths in the United States. So far in 2025, only two live albums have managed to reach that region — and that number doubles this week. BTS Returns to the Top 10 BTS returns to the highest tier on the Billboard 200 this week with its first live album, Permission to Dance On Stage (Live). The set marks something of a comeback for the South Korean boy band, as all of its members had to step away from their music careers to fulfill South Korea's mandatory military service, which they have now finished. The project debuts at No. 10 with 43,000 equivalent units shifted in its first seven-day tracking period. Taylor Swift Swift's One-Week Smash Permission to Dance On Stage (Live) is one of only two live albums to crack the top 10 on the Billboard 200 this year. BTS joins Taylor Swift in this uncommon feat, according to Billboard. Just a few months ago, in January, Swift scored a new bestselling live title with Lover: Live From Paris. The vinyl version, which was available only for a short time, instantly became a must-have for Swifties. The set reappeared out of nowhere at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, narrowly missing giving the singer-songwriter another chart leader. Lover: Live From Paris then disappeared one week later, and hasn't returned since. BTS Scores Across Multiple Billboard Rankings Permission to Dance On Stage (Live) opens inside the top 10 on all three Billboard charts it debuts on this week, though it earns the lowest start on the Billboard 200. The project brings BTS back to No. 1 on the World Albums list, where the group has now scored 14 rulers. The septet also nearly conquers the Top Album Sales chart, but instead, Permission to Dance On Stage (Live) starts in the runner-up spot behind Don't Tap the Glass, Tyler, the Creator's surprise new full-length.
