No dissatisfaction in our party: MP Rajashekar Hitnal
He dismissed reports of internal dissent within the Congress and affirmed that Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would remain in office for the full five-year term.
'A notice has already been given to Iqbal Hussain, it is not just a notice, action will be taken against him... There is no dissatisfaction in our party... Siddaramaiah will be the CM for five years,' Hitnal said.
The remarks come after Congress MLA Iqbal Hussain publicly backed Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar as the next Chief Minister of Karnataka.
On July 1, Hussain had said, 'Undoubtedly, 200 per cent, he (DK Shivakumar) will be the CM (of Karnataka) within two months... If the party wants to survive, if we want to see Congress in power in 2028, we need a change. We need a good administration. This is the right time... Shivakumar has given a wonderful contribution to the party... He should be made the CM for Congress to come to power in 2028. This is the opinion of most MLAs. We have to think about our future and our party also... This is the right time to bring DK Shivakumar as the CM...'
The BJP has claimed that these remarks point to a rift within the Congress-led state government. However, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah rejected these allegations, calling them baseless.
Speaking after a visit to the Bhoga Nandishwara Temple, Siddaramaiah said, 'What the BJP says is only lies. You (media) only don't believe what they say. They're known for lies. They don't know how to speak the truth. Doesn't matter whether they believe it or not, we are all together.'
'Our government will remain for five years like a rock, as I told you in Mysore. BJP people are daydreaming,' he added.
Siddaramaiah clarified that the state cabinet meeting held in Bengaluru was part of a broader effort to conduct divisional meetings across the state.
'We did cabinet meetings in the western region. Today, we are holding one in the Bengaluru division. After some days, we will hold a meeting in the Belagavi division also. We are also discussing holding a meeting at Vijayapura,' he said.
'It's a Bengaluru division meet today. We will implement everything announced in our manifesto,' he added.
The Chief Minister also challenged the BJP to present evidence of their developmental work during their time in power.
'They were in power. Let them tell what they have done? As our DK Shivakumar says, what have they done? They did nothing... Health, education, PWD, rural development, and irrigation, they have done nothing. No proofs. They simply keep on lying and try to mislead people,' Siddaramaiah said. (ANI)

Brics has expanded from initial four to eleven members and has sought a greater say in the world's affairs in recent years, but the group has faced a challenge to its relevance from US President Donald Trump's direct threats and attempts by China to turn the group into an anti-West bloc to take on the United States. read more Over the past two decades, Brics has evolved from a forum of four emerging economies to a group of 11 nations that its supporters say is ushering true multilateralism in the world. Critics, however, say that the bloc is just a Chinese tool to unseat the United States to become the world's foremost superpower. The idea of Brics emerged in 2001 when then-Goldman Sachs Chief Economist Jim O'Neill argued that Brazil, Russia, India, and China had the potential to reshape the global economic landscape by 2050 due to their large populations, rapid economic growth, rising global influence, and rapid upward social mobility. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD In 2006, the four countries came together to form Bric — South Africa joined in 2010. With the expansion in 2024, the group has 11 members. Brics has positioned itself as a non-Western alternative for supporting economic growth and cooperation. Even though the group's influence has risen, challenges have also risen and the group now finds itself as a critical juncture. Brics is bigger than G7 but faces tough challenges In 2015, Brics launched New Development Bank (NDB) to fund infrastructure and development projects in developing countries. With initiatives like the NDB and the Russia-led grain exchange, and collaboration in other areas of emerging technologies and economies, Brics has positioned itself as an alternative to Western-dominated financial institutions like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank. But, even as Brics continues to attract new members, the group is far from replacing IMF or World Bank and stares at formidable challenges — both internally and externally. Internally, the very purpose of Brics is under question as China has sought to become the leader of the group and turn it into an anti-Western bloc. Russia has supported China to the hilt in this quest. The two countries are already part of an anti-Western alliance also comprising Iran and North Korea (the so-called CRINK bloc) and want to make Brics an extension of that bloc — while the CRINK bloc clashes with the West militarily, Brics takes on the West economically. Externally, Brics has faced strong opposition from US President Donald Trump, who has dubbed any move by the group to dethrone the US Dollar as a red line. He has threatened Brics members with 100 per cent tariffs if they move towards a Brics currency or dedollarisation. With such challenges that put the very basis of the group in question, Brics stands as a unique blend of opportunities, aspirations, and challenges, and India as a founding member and a competitor of China has its own share of challenges. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD A non-Western group or an anti-Western group? India has gone to great lengths to explain to the West that Brics is not an anti-Western group and that it supplements Western institutions like the IMF and World Bank and does not seek to replace them. But China and Russia continue to push the group as an anti-Western bloc. Brics is definitely a China-dominated group as China is the largest economy and contributes to 40 per cent of the bloc's gross domestic product. Moreover, NBD is headquartered in Shanghai even as five initial members —Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa— are equal shareholders of the bank. The presence of ironclad partners Russia and China (and Iran as well) in Brics further adds to the anti-Western impression of the bloc. However, India's presence in the group and, more importantly, its status as a founding member counterbalances the China-Russia influence. India has so far prevented the bloc from turning into an anti-Western bloc. In March, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar dismissed fears of Brics trying to replace the US Dollar. Instead, India considers the strength of the US Dollar essential for global stability, said Jaishankar. 'I don't think there's any policy on our part to replace the dollar. As I said, at the end of the day, the dollar as the reserve currency is the source of international economic stability. And right now, what we want in the world is more economic stability, not less,' said Jaishankar. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD India has also used its status as an equal shareholder at NDB to prevent the bank from turning into an extension of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). As China is not just working to dethrone the United States, but is also looking forward to suppress India's rise, India's continued presence and assertion of its role as a founding member in Brics is a must. Anushka Saxena, a China researcher at the Takshashila Institution, previously told Firstpost that India's involvement in Brics and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is a must to ensure these institutions work for stated purposes and not become China's tools. 'In Brics, India's priorities lie in making sure that principled guidelines are laid out to set benchmarks for membership, in creating space for consensus-building against the possibility of China's influence-peddling, and in attempting to retain the image and brand value of Brics as a community of developing market economies demanding more voice in global governance,' she said Saxena. If China and Russia continue to propagate the idea that these groupings are anti-West, India's presence becomes necessary to maintain the balance and act as a bridge with the West,' Saxena further said.

As Kharge reaches Hyderabad, posters accusing Congress of violating Constitution put up in Hyderabad
On Friday (July 4, 2025) when All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge arrived in Hyderabad, posters and flexi banners were put up at several junctions and bus stops targeting the Congress government accusing it of governing with an iron hand violating the Constitution. The banners without any names of the publishers claimed that the Congress government unleashed violence and atrocities against the people. It was further charged that people were arrested and implicated in false cases for demanding the implementation of [2023 Assembly] poll promises.. Mocking the Congress party's slogan of 'Save the Constitution,' the posters claimed that the government was 'Destroying the Constitution' and harassed people in Telangana. The slogans filled with sarcasm included 'Jai Bapu, violence is our weapon,' 'Jai Bhim, SCs/STs are our goal,' and 'Jai Samvidhan, Constitution is of no importance to us.' Pictures of police arresting people were also included in the posters. The posters appeared overnight, and there was no mention of any political party or the organisations that prepared the posters. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was asked to remove the posters put up at public places without any permission. Congress party, however, accused the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) of resorting to cheap politics and said such posters have become a norm whenever a national level Congress leader tours Hyderabad. The BRS's desperation to paint the Congress government in a bad light has reached the lowest levels, but there are no takers for its claims as people have not forgotten how it suppressed democratic protests, Congress Media Committee Chairman Sama Ram Mohan Reddy said. The BRS - which closed even the Dharna Chowk - talking about suppression is laughable, he said.

UP Enforces Food Licenses Display On Kanwar Yatra Route, Opposition Hits Out
Lucknow: The UP government's move to make it mandatory for all shops along the Kanwar Yatra route to have proper licenses and clearly display the owner's original name has come in for criticism from the opposition. However, the state government has defended the move, with senior minister Sanjay Nishad saying that the accusation holds no weight. Mr Nishad said, "The party whose nameplate the public has torn down and thrown away, that party's words hold no weight... Our government makes decisions for the welfare of the public, which is why the public stands with us..." Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, said that every buyer had the right to know who they were purchasing things from. "The Samajwadi Party always engages in appeasement politics... We will maintain law and order in every situation... Every buyer has the right to know and understand from whom they are purchasing edible items, and this is also a regulation. If they are writing it or being asked to write it, what problem do they have with it?" he said. Senior Minister OP Rajbhar said, "The government strives to ensure that every festival is conducted plans the government is making, they are for all castes and religions. Different religions have different arrangements, so this was done to avoid any opposition always speaks against the ruling party, this is their only work" Earlier, reacting to the Kanwar Yatra 'nameplate' row Congress National Spokesperson Shama Mohamed said that this is an attempt to divert attention. She also mentioned that these things should never be allowed. "This happens when you have no development and employment. You have to divert attention. You bring this out again to show this is a Muslim shop, this is a Hindu shop. So these things should never be allowed. I'm very proud of Rahul Gandhi, who stands for everyone...," said Mr Shama Mohamed. AIMIM (All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen) chief Asaduddin Owaisi also slammed the UP government over its directive. "There are many hotels near the Muzaffarnagar bypass. These hotels have been there for years. Didn't the Kanwar Yatra start here 10 years ago? The Kanwar Yatra used to start peacefully. There was no unrest there. Why is all this happening now? Now, they are asking for Aadhaar cards from hoteliers. They are making shopkeepers remove their pants," he said. The Yatra began on June 10. In the Kanwar Yatra procession, Kanwariyas collect water from a river and carry it hundreds of kilometres to offer it to the shrines of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu beliefs, Parshuram, a devotee of Shiva and Lord Vishnu's avatar, participated in the initial procession. Devotees across the country perform worship, fasting and pilgrimage dedicated to the Lord Shiva.
