Bentley Bentayga Speed sets new SUV hill climb record at Goodwood
Bentley's latest Bentayga Speed has officially set a new record for the fastest internal combustion engine (ICE) production SUV on the Goodwood Festival of Speed hill climb. Despite patchy wet conditions, the 641 bhp luxury SUV completed the hill run in 55.8 seconds last Sunday, ahead of the festival's public opening.
The time marks an improvement of almost one second over the previous W12-powered Bentayga Speed's run in dry conditions. It also beats all other ICE production SUVs recorded at the event. Only Bentley's specially modified Pikes Peak Bentayga has gone faster up the same hill.
Bentley's vehicle dynamics specialist Andy Marson, driving the Bentayga Speed, reached a peak speed of 209 kmph before braking for Molecomb corner. According to Bentley, the run showcased the car's revised chassis, ESC Dynamic settings, and all-wheel steering systems aimed at improving cornering response and stability. Bentley Bentayga Speed: Engine and handling
The new Bentayga Speed uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing 641 bhp and 850 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0–60 mph in a claimed 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 310 kmph.
Compared to previous Bentayga models, the latest version introduces several handling updates. These include a recalibrated SPORT driving mode, ESC Dynamic software, and all-wheel steering. Bentley says these changes allow for more responsive steering, improved cornering grip, and greater driver control.

The Bentayga Speed offers optional carbon ceramic brakes. In combination with ESC Dynamic mode, these brakes are designed to allow more flexibility for drivers, including the ability to engage controlled drift angles or sharper turn-ins using torque vectoring.
All-wheel steering has been introduced as well. At lower speeds, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels, reducing the turning circle. At higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction for increased stability. Bentley Bentayga Speed: Design and customisation
Visually, the Bentayga Speed retains its familiar SUV proportions but adds darker exterior elements. Features include dark-tinted headlamp and tail lamp bezels, 22-inch Speed wheels as standard, and an optional 23-inch wheel, a first for Bentley SUVs, available with the carbon ceramic brake package.
Painted brake callipers in a range of colours are also available, reflecting the growing emphasis on personalisation in the luxury SUV segment.

While high-performance SUVs continue to gain popularity, the Bentayga Speed's latest record puts it at the top among production ICE-powered models tackling the Goodwood hill. The car's mix of power, updated handling systems, and braking options places it firmly in competition with rivals from brands such as Lamborghini and Aston Martin.

Tata Harrier.ev review, first drive: Loaded to the gills with AWD and tech
Tata Motors has created quite a few legends over the years — the Tata Sierra, the Tata Estate, and of course, the iconic Tata Safari. While the Sierra and Estate were discontinued long ago, the Safari managed to soldier on, thanks to its rugged ability and loyal fan base. It was also the enthusiast's favourite, largely because it came with 4x4 technology. However, the newer generation Safari dropped this much-loved feature, leaving purists disappointed. Now though, Tata Motors is ready to break new ground with the launch of the — not just in 2WD, but also with a fully-loaded AWD variant. And that's exactly what we have with us today. The comes with a fully-loaded AWD variant as well, apart from the rear-wheel drive version. advertisementTata Design and dimensionsThe latest crop of Tata Motors vehicles has impressed us with their design — whether it's the compact Tata Punch, the futuristic Tata Curvv, or the updated Tata Nexon. The Harrier was no different, and the new continues that strong design lineage. It stays true to the original ICE version's bold and butch styling but adds subtle elements that highlight its electric identity. Sleek LED headlamps and bumper-mounted cornering lamps add to modern look. Up front, it features sleek LED headlamps and cornering lamps positioned on the bumper, while a full-width LED light bar on top serves as the DRL, giving it a modern, high-tech look. The grille has been blanked out — a typical EV trait — with select openings serving aerodynamic functions. From the side, it's hard to tell the EV apart from its ICE sibling, except for the 19-inch aero-styled wheels. Another unique detail is the 'Quad Wheel Drive' badge near the C-pillar, hinting at its AWD capability. At the rear, the sports a connected LED tail-light panel and a bold EV badge, leaving no doubt about its electric nature. Both the light panels also feature a signature move every time the vehicle is locked or unlocked. The measures 4,607mm in length. When it comes to dimensions, the is 4,607mm in length, 2,32mm in width and is 1,740mm tall. The infotainment system is packed with features, one of the highlights being a smart range map that not only displays your remaining distance in kilometres but also visually shows the area you can cover, much like a geofence. Tata has also introduced a new feature called DrivePay, which acts as a digital wallet. It allows you to pay for EV charging and Fastag tolls directly through the system. The instrument cluster is a fully digital 10.25-inch unit. The also offers a large sunroof. advertisementThe centre console features phygital buttons, a mix of physical and digital controls. While they're large and easy to use, we would've liked some haptic feedback for better tactility. Just below that is the terrain mode selector, which we'll touch on shortly. Another thoughtful touch is the cooled centre armrest, adding to overall terms of space, the doesn't disappoint. There's ample room in both the front and rear. Rear passengers also benefit from 'Boss Mode,' which allows them to electrically slide the front passenger seat forward for more legroom. What sets the apart is the impressive claimed range of 622km. Out on the highway, the cruises with ease. What really stands out, though, is the ride quality. The suspension soaks up ruts and bumps with remarkable composure, offering a plush experience for all passengers. Even larger potholes are handled without much said, there is a fair bit of body roll, but let's face it, this is a big SUV, not a corner-carving sports Verdict performance is also commendable. As an off-road enthusiast, I'm particularly thrilled that Tata is finally offering AWD tech in the But what really sets it apart is the impressive claimed range and the sheer number of features on offer. Performance, too, is commendable, making the feel well worth its Rs 30.23 lakh ex-showroom price only lingering concern is the long-term reliability of all these high-tech features. Hopefully, Tata Motors has stepped up its game in terms of quality control, something that could truly elevate the into a standout offering in the electric SUV to Auto Today Magazine- EndsTune InMust Watch

US races to build migrant tent camps after $45 billion funding boost, reports
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement is racing to build migrant tent camps nationwide after receiving $45 billion in new funding, aiming to expand detention capacity from 40,000 to 100,000 beds by year-end, The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday. The agency is prioritizing large-scale tent facilities at military bases and ICE jails, including a 5,000-bed site at Fort Bliss in Texas and others in Colorado, Indiana, and New Jersey, the report added, citing documents seen by WSJ. 'ICE is pursuing all available options to expand bedspace capacity,' a senior ICE official told Reuters, adding that the 'process does include housing detainees at certain military bases.' Top US officials at Homeland Security, including US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, have expressed a preference for detention centers run by Republican states and local governments rather than private prison companies, the report said. The agency declined to confirm the specifics of the plan to expand detention capacity. Noem said last week that she was in talks with five Republican-led states to build other detention sites inspired by the 'Alligator Alcatraz' facility in Florida. 'We've had several other states that are actually using Alligator Alcatraz as a model for how they can partner with us,' Noem told a press conference in Florida without naming any of the states.
