Cameron McAdoo update: 'I still have a couple months until the doctors will release me'

NBC Sports12-06-2025
Cameron McAdoo will not return to action until at least the end of the 2025 Pro Motocross season, according to an update by the rider on social media.
'Wanted to jump on and give everyone an update on my progress with the knee,' McAdoo posted on Instagram. 'Things have been going well and moving forward as planned with the recovery, I still have a couple months until the doctors will release me to be back on the motorcycle.'
If McAdoo and the doctors are accurate in their timing, that would coincide with the week between Rounds 9 at Ironman and 10 at Unadilla. After starting only three rounds of the Monster Energy Supercross season, and finishing last in two of those (earning zero points), McAdoo is 48th in the combined SuperMotocross League standings with a gap of 38 points to 30th, which is the cutline to receiving an invitation to the playoffs without an overall win.
'This one has been a bit longer recovery due to it being my second time having this ACL worked on,' McAdoo continued. 'I am missing being on the bike and getting to go race on the weekends more than anything right now but as I know in due time I will get that opportunity. In the meantime, I've spent a lot of time pedaling bikes, at [Range Sports Therapy], lots of [physical therapy], and checking off some honey-do projects haha.'
It is possible that McAdoo would choose to skip the last two rounds even if his knee is healthy enough for Unadilla or Budds Creek. His last attempt in the Pro Motocross series was in 2022 when he finished 18th in the standings with 83 points.

Buffalo Bills first-round pick shares positive update after scary training camp injury

The Buffalo Bills have been bit hard by the injury bug through the first week of training camp. And while those injuries have racked up, none appear to be serious. However, a potentially serious injury did occur on Tuesday. First-round cornerback Max Hairston left practice after a non-contact injury to his right knee. Fans held their breath that it wasn't a torn ACL, which would end the rookie's season before it started. While the severity of Hairston's injury is unknown, he gave a seemingly positive update on his Instagram story. Hairston posted a picture of himself smiling and signing a football for a fan during practice with the caption "Beyond Blessed Thank You God." Let's hope the severity of Hairston's injury is very low and is revealed sooner than later so fans can exhale. Braves place 5-time All-Star Ronald Acuña Jr. on the injured list with Achilles tendon inflammation

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Atlanta Braves put five-time All-Star Ronald Acuña Jr. on the 10-day injured list with right Achilles tendon inflammation Wednesday, though the exact severity of the injury to the slugging outfielder may not be known until additional testing is done. The Braves recalled outfielder Jarred Kelenic from Triple-A Gwinnett to take his place on the roster. Acuña first experienced discomfort in his calf area Monday night, when he scored from first on Austin Riley's double to help the Braves to a 10-7 victory over Kansas City. Acuña lobbied to play on Tuesday night and Braves manager Brian Snitker assented, only for Acuña to come up limping while trying to chase down a ball in right field in an eventual 9-6 loss . 'It happened when I scored from first to home on that play,' Acuña explained after the game, speaking through an interpreter. 'They are going to examine me (Wednesday) so we'll see how it goes.' Even after he came up limping, Acuña wanted to remain in the game. He headed out to his position in the field but saw Eli White trotting out to replace him. That Acuña was able to jog into the dugout at least generated some optimism that the injury to the Achilles tendon was not a complete tear and he could be back this season. 'I was kind of out there hoping they wouldn't hit it my way and of course any time you do that, they always hit it your way,' Acuña said. 'I told them (about the pain Monday) and everyone said: 'Take the day if you want it. You can have the day off.' I've missed so much time already through injuries I didn't want to miss any more time.' Acuña, the National League MVP in 2023, has dealt with injuries for much of his career. He missed time as a rookie in 2018 with a sprained left knee ligament, then tore the ACL in his right knee to end his 2021 season. Last year, he pivoted awkwardly as he was taking his lead on the bases and wound up tearing the ACL in his left knee, ending his season after 49 games. Only twice in eight seasons has Acuña managed to play more than 119 games. After missing the start of this season, Acuña returned May 23 and began playing at an All-Star level again. He was hitting .306 with 14 homers and 26 RBIs in 55 games, including a 2-for-4 night with a homer against the Royals on Monday night. 'It's an injury, I'm worried,' Acuña said of the latest issue, which comes amid a season in which Atlanta has been devastated by injuries — particularly to its starting rotation. 'It's more pain, but it feels kind of — I feel it a lot when I try to put pressure on it.' Kelenic, the sixth overall pick of Seattle in the 2018 amateur player draft, has struggled to live up to his potential. He hit .231 with 15 home runs and 45 RBIs in 131 games for Atlanta last season but was sent to Gwinnett in April of this season, after he hit .167 with two homers and just two RBIs over the first 23 games with the Braves. White is expected to be Acuña's primary replacement. He is hitting .255 with four homers and 18 RBIs in 72 games. ___ AP MLB:

Cameron Brink's emotional return to the WNBA: ‘A great day, 10 out of 10'

LOS ANGELES — Cameron Brink was dancing and smiling in the pre-game huddle. After 13 months away from the sport she loves, the Los Angeles Sparks forward was back in what coach Lynne Roberts calls 'her happy place.' Brink was 1 for 3 and made a pair of free throws while playing 13 minutes, with three rebounds, an assist, a steal, a block and a turnover in an 89-74 loss to the Las Vegas Aces that snapped the Sparks' five-game winning streak. She came off the bench in her first WNBA game since suffering a left ACL injury in a game at Connecticut in June 2024. 'I really missed it,' Brink said afterward. 'That's definitely my favorite part of basketball is just competing, working my butt off. It was really fun to be out there with my teammates and feed off the crowd.' She entered to cheers with 2:39 remaining in the first quarter. Brink quickly got to work, grabbing an offensive rebound and feeding Rickea Jackson for a jumper. She then hit a 3-pointer with NBA stars Russell Westbrook and DeMar DeRozan and comedian Leslie Jones watching courtside. 'After I hit that first shot, just kind of like weight off my shoulders,' Brink said. 'Credit to my teammates, they made me feel super comfortable. If I didn't know a play, they got my back and were telling me where to go.' When she wasn't in the game, Brink cheered from the bench, rising to urge in shots while the Sparks played catchup most of the night. 'She was more comfortable out there than I anticipated her to be just cause how long she's been out,' Roberts said. Before getting hurt, Brink, the No. 2 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, was averaging 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks. 'I don't feel as fast as I was last year,' she said, 'but I'm making small steps every day.' Brink has yet to practice much with the full team. 'I told her after the game that's very impressive to come in and make the impact that she did,' teammate Kelsey Plum said. 'I think she's going to continue to just help us a ton, especially defensively. We looked just horrid tonight. She's someone that's going to get better game by game.' Brink's minutes will be restricted for the near term. 'Hopefully it won't be a thing for a long time,' she said, adding her goal is to play 20 to 25 minutes a game. Watching her teammates play last season, Brink said she learned nuances of the game that she might not have otherwise. But mostly she was itching to play in games again. 'Really glad it's over so that we can all move on and I'm back to my job,' she said. Brink was supported by over 20 friends and family. 'I felt very loved. A great day, 10 out of 10,' she said. 'I won't ever forget it.'
