25 OFWs from Israel safely return home through government repatriation program
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. directed the repatriation efforts, expressing deep concern for the welfare of the overseas workers. Secretary Cacdac assured the returnees of the President's support and urged them to use the financial aid wisely.
The repatriated OFWs received assistance from various agencies: financial aid through the DMW's AKSYON Fund and OWWA's Emergency Repatriation Fund, additional cash support from the DSWD, and TESDA training vouchers to help them develop new skills. They also underwent medical checkups provided by the Department of Health and the MIAA Medical Team.
OFW Nelizza Baldrias from Calaca, Batangas expressed gratitude, saying the financial help will be used to start a small business. She and the others form the 39th batch of OFWs repatriated from Israel since the conflict began in October 2023. In total, 1,405 Filipinos have returned home under the Marcos administration's repatriation program.

Dubai-based overseas Filipino workers can now verify employment contracts online
Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Dubai now have a faster and more convenient way to process their employment contract verification. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on July 7 launched a new online system that allows OFWs to submit and verify their documents remotely — without having to visit the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Dubai in person. Previously, OFWs had to submit their requirements online or via email but still needed to physically appear at the Philippine Consulate or MWO-Dubai to complete the verification. This required securing an appointment slot, which was often difficult to get, especially during peak travel seasons. Simplified process Now, with the launch of the pilot online verification system — developed in partnership with the DataFlow Group — the process has been simplified. OFWs can access the platform via and complete the entire verification remotely. The pilot will run for 30 days starting today. The system will accept up to 200 applications per weekday from 8am to 11.59pm, with plans to expand this capacity depending on demand and evaluator availability. How to apply 1. Access the Portal 2. Enter your email address You'll receive a One-Time Password (OTP) for verification. 3. Verify OTP Enter the OTP sent to your email to proceed. 4. Access the dashboard After logging in, click 'Start Verification' on the dashboard. 5. Select country Choose UAE as your application country, where the verification report is required. 6. Choose verification details Use the dropdown menus to select the purpose of verification and verification category. 7. Upload documents You'll be directed to a page to upload the required documents. You can choose to proceed immediately or complete it later. Applicants can expect their verified contracts to be available within three working days. Once completed, workers can download both the verified contract and their Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) through This new system builds on Advisory No. 07, Series of 2025, which took effect on May 1 and introduced updated guidelines to improve service delivery. The revised process now offers two main options — online and in-person — and applies to OFWs holding visas from Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain, and Ras Al Khaimah. Walk-in and special cases still supported For those who prefer to walk in, or in cases where online submission isn't possible, manual verification at MWO-Dubai remains available. OFWs may visit the office one working day before their flight. Special scheduling provisions apply to those flying over the weekend or when the day before departure falls on a holiday. Additionally, OFWs already in the Philippines who were unable to complete verification before leaving may authorise a representative to submit their documents in Dubai. These representatives will be allowed entry 1–3 days prior to the OEC appointment in the Philippines or 2–5 days before the worker's return flight to the UAE. Exceptions apply While most OFWs may proceed with online contract verification, exceptions apply. To avoid delays or disapproval, ensure that you meet all the eligibility requirements and none of the disqualifying conditions apply to you. You can not apply for online contract verification if:

MWO Dubai's newly launched online contract verification registers 81 applicants within first 4 hours
Within just four hours of its launch, 81 OFWs have successfully submitted their required documents through the new online contract verification system introduced by the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Although a few minor technical issues were reported, the MWO Dubai assured the applicants that fixes are already underway to ensure the system runs smoothly. 'This pilot launch marks a major step forward in making government services more accessible and efficient for our OFWs,' said Labor Attaché Atty. John Rio A. Bautista. 'We are encouraged by the strong initial response and are working to ensure the system can serve more applicants with ease. Consistent with our mandate to serve and protect OFWs, we are offering this: Digitalized. Mabilis. Walang pila online contract verification system.' The 30-day pilot program started on Monday, July 7, in partnership with DataFlow Group, as part of ongoing efforts to digitize services related to overseas employment. To prevent system overload and overcrowding, MWO Dubai has limited the number of daily appointment slots to 200 during this pilot phase. The platform remains open every day until all slots are filled or until 11:59 PM Dubai time. Applicants who miss the daily slots are advised to try again the following day, starting at 8:00 AM. Users are also reminded to clear their browser cookies before logging in to avoid errors or slow loading. For urgent cases, such as confirmed flight bookings, MWO will still provide in-person contract verification appointments one day before the scheduled departure. Marcos open to taxing online gaming, supports measures against gambling addiction
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is open to a Department of Finance (DOF) proposal to impose taxes on the online gaming industry, as part of efforts to regulate the sector and combat gambling addiction, Malacañang said Monday. Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said the move aims to protect Filipino families by restricting access to harmful online gambling platforms. 'The President understands the dangers of gambling addiction. He will not oppose any taxation plan, as long as it's backed by solid research,' Castro said. She added that imposing taxes would go hand-in-hand with intensifying efforts against illegal or unregistered online gaming sites. The DOF's proposal also includes limiting playtime, setting cash-in ceilings, displaying responsible gambling warnings, and even banning public officials from playing online gambling games. Malacañang emphasized that all possible legislative and policy solutions to curb online gambling addiction are welcome under the Marcos administration.
