4 Siblings, Including 3 Children, Die in 'Devastating' House Fire in Louisiana
After firefighters arrived at the scene, they "located the bodies of four victims," the Fire Marshal added. One woman, 46, managed to escape and was treated at a local hospital.
Fire officials believe the victims were a 20-year-old female, a 14-year-old boy, a 12-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy.
The Lafourche Parish Coroner's Office later identified the victims as Bennaja Robinson, 20, Benjamin Bradley, 14, Karlie Bradley, 12, and Dre'Trelle Bradley, 6, per WDSU. WWLTV and FOX 8. They are all siblings, according to WDSU and WWLTV.
The 46-year-old woman who was injured has not been publicly identified.
PEOPLE reached out to the Lafourche Parish Coroner's Office and the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal.
"Calls like these are what we dread in the fire service," said DPS Principal Assistant Chief Bryan J. Adams in the Fire Marshal's release. "We don't know what might have made a difference to prevent this fire, but we know in any fire, smoke alarms can give families critical, extra time to escape a fire. Every home should have at least one working smoke alarm protecting them at all times."
Joey Woodward, who lives nearby, recalled hearing a loud bang on his front door around 1:00 a.m. Thursday.
"I walked outside and saw all of the smoke and yelled, 'Do you need me to call 911?' She yelled, 'Yes,' Woodward told WWLTV. "And then I heard windows starting to break. They were trying to get to their children in there. Immediately obviously called 911. They just couldn't get here quick enough."
Woodward, whose alarm camera captured the scene, added: "There was so much smoke, you couldn't even see the house."
Angelle Kramer, a neighbor whose grandson frequently played with the Bradley children, remembered the victims as "very sweet children."

"Very nice. Very polite kids," she told WWLTV. "They will be greatly missed. Nobody should have to bury a child, much less four at one time."
The cause of the fire is under investigation; however, the Fire Marshal's office is urging residents to make sure their homes are properly protected with smoke alarms. The fire agency noted that the tragedy is the fourth deadly fire this week involving a smoke alarm that was not working properly.

On Thursday, July 24, Lawrence and Abbey Butler were joined by their lawyers to announce a lawsuit against the two funeral homes following the 2023 death of their son, Timothy Garlington. The pair is taking action against both Nix & Nix Funeral Homes in Philadelphia and Southern Cremations & Funerals in Georgia over what L. Chris Stewart, the couple's attorney, called a "horrific tragedy," per press conference footage shared by Philadelphia NBC affiliate WCAU. As the family and their lawyer revealed while speaking with local media, and as reported by the Associated Press, the two funeral homes are accused of giving the parents their late son's remains in an unmarked box. They claim the body part began to smell, leak into their car and even made contact with the father's hands. "It was, and it is still in my heart, that I got in my car and I smelled death," Lawrence told reporters emotionally as his wife stood beside him. "We just pray that this doesn't happen to anyone else again. I had to get rid of that car. I just couldn't stand the idea that the remains [were] in that car." The Butlers' son — a 56-year-old Marine veteran working as a financial aid director — died in Georgia in 2023, according to Stewart, before Southern Cremations shipped his body to Philadelphia's Nix & Nix. The second funeral home was "responsible for providing personal items" to the Butlers, having placed them on a table alongside the "unmarked box," he said. "The items were given to the family, and they were taken home," Stewart continued. "For them only to discover days later that there were remains in that white, unmarked box. How devastating of a mistake that was made by both funeral homes." As the lawyer alleged, the parents discovered they had possession of their son's remains when their car "started to smell," as the box began "leaking in their vehicle." He added that there is "no reason or justification" for Garlington's brain to have been placed "in a separate box." The discovery came days after Garlington's mother unsuccessfully attempted to open the container in front of the funeral home staff, according to Stewart. "To find out that it was his remains was just overwhelming," Lawrence added, speaking to reporters. "Even to this day, that they could do that. You rely on their professionalism to avoid this kind of situation. And that we would have to go through that," he continued. "Tim was the baby boy and was a good young man. This would just double up on the fact that we lost him to this day." Nix & Nix and Southern Cremations did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment on Saturday, July 26. ASV Partners, the company that owns Southern Cremations, declined to comment when contacted by the AP. According to the outlet, the Southern Cremations location is at Cheatham Hill. Speaking to the AP, Julian Nix of Nix & Nix said 'it was definitely not our fault' and claimed the first funeral home sent the parents the unlabeled box. The owner alleged they got in contact with authorities after learning of the remains in the box, and claimed that a state board overseeing funeral homes investigated the matter and found them not responsible. Per the AP, documents proving that have not been made available. Stewart said the family still does not know if their son's brain was buried with him, per the AP, which added that the family is seeking both answers and compensation. Lawrence told reporters that he hopes the funeral homes "learn a lesson" from the ordeal. "You really depend on them to get you through," he said. "And then to find out that they did not take the care to at least know what they were sending to us. ... We just trusted them to do what we thought should be done correctly. Prayer service held for mother and two children killed in shooting incident
A prayer service held for a mother and two children killed in a shooting incident in Co Fermanagh has been told that 'we cannot rationalise what should never have taken place'. Vanessa Whyte, 45, a vet originally from Co Clare, her son James, 14, and daughter Sara, 13, were killed in a suspected triple murder and attempted suicide at a house in Maguiresbridge on Wednesday morning. Ms Whyte was originally from Barefield, a village near Ennis in Co Clare. Hundreds of people attended the prayer service, which took place in Barefield on Sunday evening. Parish priest Fr Tom Fitzpatrick said that Ms Whyte was a woman who loved her children 'fiercely', and wanted the best for them. He described how she worked hard and laughed a lot, and carried burdens 'we may never fully understand'. Fr Fitzpatrick added: 'Vanessa Whyte and her son James and daughter Sara, the unspeakable tragedy that has befallen our parish is something that is very hard to focus in on and get our minds around. 'But we're here, and that's the main thing. And we are here as well, not just praying for the three of them tonight in a very special way, and asking the Lord to take them to himself, that they be at peace. And I know they are. 'We're also here to remember and be a support for (Vanessa's mother) Mary and her family, and the siblings. They're at home tonight, they decided not to come. It might be easier for themselves, and for ourselves here too, maybe if they were just looking in online from home. 'So we're thinking of them in a very special way. Tonight we come to remember Vanessa and to hold Vanessa's family.' Three candles representing Ms Whyte, James and Sara sat on the altar. Those gathered were told that she was a woman who 'gave and gave'. 'Vanessa was a mother. She was a daughter, a sister, an aunty and a great friend to so many people,' Fr Fitzpatrick added. 'She was a woman who loved her children fiercely she wanted the best for them. She worked hard, and she laughed a lot, and she carried burdens that we may never ever fully understand. 'Her life was incredibly precious. James and Sara, young lives just beginning, so full of promise, so loved, so full of light, they've been taken away from this world all too soon in a violent way. 'We just find it impossible, my dear friends, to make sense of any of it. We cannot rationalise what should never have taken place, what we can do is remember the pain that we feel now, that pain is borne out of love. 'If we didn't love Vanessa, and so many of you would have known her, and if we didn't love her children, we wouldn't be grieving. This heartbreak is the price we pay for love, but it is also love in itself that will help Vanessa's family and all of us indeed, to carry it over the weeks and months to come. 'Mary, I know you're at home and you're listening. She was Vanessa's beloved mother, and her grief is a very deep ocean indeed. 'No mother should ever have to endure this. And yet, Mary, I know, will find herself surrounded by people who care deeply. 'She will meet them over the next number of days. These same people, all of us here, will stand beside her, not just during these dark days, but in the days and the weeks to come as well.' He said the family's hearts have been 'fractured beyond belief'. 'You have lost a sister, a niece and a nephew, and there are no words that can fill the space that they have left behind. But you're not alone. 'You are held by a community of people who are walking with you through this darkness.' A murder investigation has been launched, while an adult male remains in a serious condition in hospital. It is understood that the funeral of Ms Whyte and her two children will take place in Barefield later this week. On Saturday, detectives from the major investigation team, who are carrying out the murder investigation, said they are continuing with their inquiries and appealed for information involving the movements of a vehicle. Detective Chief Inspector Neil McGuinness said: 'Our investigation is ongoing and we are working tirelessly to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy. 'I would continue to appeal generally for anyone with information to come forward, and more specifically, I would ask anyone who saw a silver Mercedes saloon car being driven in the Clones Road area of Newtownbutler, or between Maguiresbridge and Newtownbutler, on the evening of Tuesday July 22 to call detectives on 101, quoting reference 276 23/07/25. 'Anyone who was travelling in the area and who may have captured dashcam footage which could assist, please get in touch.' The man who remains in a serious condition in hospital was a member of the same household, the PSNI said.
