Transfer window: Nicolas Jackson in serious jeopardy for AFCON 2025?

Nicolas Jackson
Having slipped into an unwanted status at Chelsea, Nicolas Jackson is fighting for his place at AFCON 2025 with Senegal this summer.
Nicolas Jackson had the advantage of being a regular starter for Chelsea over the past two seasons. The Senegalese striker was decisive, netting 17 goals and providing 6 assists in 2023-2024, followed by 13 goals and 5 assists in 2024-2025.
But in football, things change fast. This summer, Nicolas Jackson dropped to third in the Blues' striker pecking order during the Club World Cup. He failed to score in the tournament, with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap overtaking him. As a result, a move is on the cards this transfer window.
A transfer could be the right move for the player, giving him the chance to earn regular minutes elsewhere, stay sharp, and stake his claim for a spot in Senegal's squad for AFCON 2025. Lions boss Pape Thiaw doesn't pull any punches—he picks players who are performing at the highest level.
It's worth noting that Manchester United are interested in Nicolas Jackson.

Tyler Dibling: Everton table improved bid for Southampton winger

Everton have made an improved bid for Southampton winger Tyler Dibling. Southampton are yet to respond to the offer, which is worth in the region of £40million including add-ons, but they are seeking a higher fee for the teenager, and it is expected to be rebuffed. Everton have already seen an opening offer for Dibling turned down this summer. He is keen to return to the Premier League, having never played in the Championship, following Southampton's relegation last season. The 19-year-old's contract at St. Mary's runs until 2027 and he has also attracted interest from Aston Villa and Newcastle United. Dibling was a regular for Southampton last term, making 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and three assists, though he could not help save the club from returning straight to the Championship as they finished bottom of the top flight table. After spending eight years in Southampton's academy, Dibling joined Chelsea's youth setup in 2022. However, he only featured twice for the west London side and rejoined Southampton later that year. Advertisement Dibling signed his first professional contract in 2023 and made his senior debut in August of that year in a 3-1 defeat against Gillingham in the Carabao Cup. He primarily featured for the club's under-21 side in the 2023-24 season before establishing himself as a first team regular in the subsequent campaign following Southampton's promotion to the Premier League. The winger has made 43 appearances for the club in total. The Athletic reported on Monday that Everton are also in talks over a permanent deal for Chelsea's Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Everton have been active in the transfer market this summer, securing the arrivals of Adam Aznou, Thierno Barry and Mark Travers this summer, and also signed Carlos Alcaraz permanently following his loan spell at Goodison Park last season. The Athletic also reported on July 26 that the club were in talks with Lyon over a potential deal for winger Malick Fofana. ()

Everton in talks with Chelsea for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Everton have tabled an official bid for Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as they look to sign him permanently this summer, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Everton manager David Moyes wants to strengthen in the middle of the park after leaving Goodison Park for their new ground – Hill Dickinson Stadium – and the 26-year-old Englishman is in their plans. Chelsea are open to selling Dewsbury-Hall and the Toffees are in talks with them over the terms of a deal. The former Leicester City star is not in the plans of Blues manager Enzo Maresca having struggled for playing opportunities last term, but Moyes is open to bringing him to Everton. Dewsbury-Hall is an excellent dribbler who passes incredibly well and is a threat when it comes to delivering set-pieces and through balls, and the Merseyside club could do with his qualities in their team. The Everton target is also a constant goal threat when playing regularly, weighing in with four goals and three assists in 13 Conference League appearances last term.

Marc Guiu Chelsea Sunderland transfer latest after weekend delay

SUNDERLAND'S pursuit of Marc Guiu remains on track despite a hold-up in recent days, with the Chelsea attacker expected on Wearside early this week to finalise his season-long loan move. Guiu was expected to arrive in the North East on Sunday afternoon to undergo his medical and complete his move to the Black Cats, but, as reported by Sky Sports, the teenager's flight was then postponed. Sunderland's agreement remains in place with Chelsea, however, and there's still an expectation on all sides that the deal will go through. He's expected in the North East in the coming days. Guiu is highly rated at Stamford Bridge, having made 16 appearances for Enzo Maresca's first team last season following his arrival from boyhood club Barcelona last year. The versatile attacker played seven times in the Europa Conference League, scoring six goals and will further bolster a forward line that has been strengthened by the arrivals of Chemsdine Talbi and Simon Adingra this summer. Sunderland will pay a loan fee for Guiu and will fund all of the forward's Chelsea wages, with the switch set to be a straight loan without a clause for a possible permanent deal next summer. And the Black Cats are also looking to offload a string of fringe players who don't feature in Regis Le Bris' plans. The likes of Ian Poveda, Hemir, Abdoullah Ba, Timothée Pembélé are all available to leave, and while Ahmed Abdullahi and Milan Aleksic remain in the club's long-term thinking, Sunderland will allow both players to go out on loan this summer in the hope they benefit from regular football. Sunderland complete their pre-season programme with a double-header this coming weekend. The Black Cats travel to Germany to take on Augsburg on Saturday before returning to England to host Spanish side Rayo Vallecano at the Stadium of Light on Sunday teatime.
