'Never Met A Guy Who Sees The Game This Way': Rune Expresses Gratitude To 'Wise Man' Agassi
The 22-year-old briefly trained with Andre Agassi, after he had reached out to the legend to help hone his skills in the lead-up to the final Major of the year, the US Open.
Danish tennis star Holger Rune trained with American legend Andre Agassi for a three-day block ahead of the DC Open in Washington.
The 22-year-old expressed his gratitude to the eight-time Grand Slam winner, Agassi, after he had reached out to the legend to help hone his skills in the lead-up to the final Major of the year, the US Open.
'It was nice. We've been in touch for a while, and we did a couple of days together here in Washington, where he was helping me with a few things, giving his opinion," Rune opened up.
'It was really a big pleasure. He's a very, very wise man. I've never met a guy who sees the game this way," he added.
World No.8 Rune revealed that the legend handed him pointers that could help boost the level of his game in a short time span.
'Obviously he had an amazing return himself and I also return well and he had a few tips there and how I can be slightly better there and then in general about the game."
'It was a really short period but definitely he gave me an insight of where he sees me in the future, where he sees me now and obviously there's a lot of things to improve."
'He helped me to get my focus and my eyes on the right things, together with my coach Lars Christensen. It was really cool to spend some days with him," the Dane added.
'I've watched a lot of him on YouTube and his style and the way of playing was amazing. His career speaks for itself," he continued.
'He's a great man, so I would definitely like that," said Rune when quizzed if he would like to team up with the American sometime again.

Shubman Gill Breaks Virat Kohli's All-Time Batting Record Of Scoring Most Runs In...
Last Updated: Before Gill, the record of scoring the most runs in a Test series played in SENA countries by an Asian batter was in the name of Virat Kohli, who scored 692 runs in 2014-15 BGT. Indian men's cricket team captain Shubman Gill entered his name in the history books on Saturday (July 26) by breaking the record of scoring the most Test runs by an Asian batter in a Test series played in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) countries. Gill needed 74 runs in India's second innings of the ongoing fourth India-England Test to go past Virat Kohli's tally of 692 runs, and he achieved the objective during the third session of the fourth day's play at Old Trafford in Manchester. During the 2014-15 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Kohli played four Tests against Australia and scored 692 runs. If Gill manages to add three more runs to his tally of 78 (at stumps on Day 4), then he will become the third cricketer after Sunil Gavaskar and Yashasvi Jaiswal to score 700 runs in a Test series for India. The individual score of 81 runs or more in the second innings of the Manchester Test will also help him become the second Indian captain after Gavaskar to score more than 700 runs in a Test series. If Gill manages to add 16 more runs to his tally in the ongoing match, then he will break Yashasvi Jaiswal's record of scoring the most runs in a Test series for India against England. During the 1990 India-England Test series, he scored a total of 752 runs in three matches. England Joe Root's scored 737 runs in five matches of 2021-22 series and Jaiswal is third on the list with 712 runs. top videos View all Gill would like to convert his good start into a big score on Sunday (July 27), and if he manages to score a century, then he will become the third Indian after Gavaskar and Kohli to score four centuries in one Test series. 'The day everything changed': Patrick Mahomes opens up about the surprising role his mom played in his NFL journey
Patrick Mahomes opens up about the surprising role his mom played in his NFL journey (Image via Getty) Patrick Mahomes is one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the NFL, known for his wild, creative throws. But the roots of his unique style didn't come from a coach, they came from his mom, Randi Mahomes. Long before Patrick became a Kansas City Chiefs superstar, he was catching strange throws in his Texas backyard. It turns out, those playful moments helped shape the football genius we see today. Patrick Mahomes' unique football skills started long before he joined the NFL Patrick Mahomes is now one of the biggest names in American football. He plays quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs and has already won two MVP awards and two Super Bowls. But what many people don't know is that some of his wild and creative throws didn't start in football practice, they started at home, with his mom, Randi Mahomes. His mother would fling footballs to him in their Tyler, Texas, backyard when he was a tiny boy. She didn't, however, fling the ball as typical. She was often busy, so she would throw it behind her back, off to the side, or in weird directions, just so she could keep reading her book or enjoy a cup of coffee. 'I'd throw it in the strangest way,' Randi Mahomes said during a chat on the Raising Athletes podcast with Kirsten Jones in July 2024. Unintentionally, Randi Mahomes showed Patrick Mahomes how to change to weak throws, move fast, and keep calm even when conditions weren't perfect. This began to shape his present approach to playing. Fans often see Mahomes perform sidearm passes, off-balance throws, or no-look moves throughout games, all of which render him very hard to predict. Randi Mahomes shaped Patrick's style with fun backyard games and strong support Randi Mahomes was not a football coach. But by just being a caring and creative mom, she helped Patrick grow into a star. She drove him to games, cheered from the stands, and always gave him love and support. 'She was always there,' Patrick told ESPN back in 2020. 'She did everything.' In April 2025, during this year's NFL Draft week, she posted on social media remembering the 2017 night when Patrick was picked by the Kansas City Chiefs. 'The day everything changed,' she wrote. On the podcast, Randi laughed as she said, 'We didn't know we were building an NFL quarterback. We were just having fun in the backyard.' Patrick Mahomes is now starting his ninth NFL season and continues to surprise fans every year. But it all started years ago with a little boy, a backyard, and a mom just trying to enjoy her coffee. FAQs Who trained Patrick Mahomes as a child? His mom, Randi Mahomes, accidentally trained him during backyard games. How did Randi Mahomes influence Patrick's playing style? Her unusual throws helped him learn to react fast and stay creative. When did Patrick Mahomes start playing football? He started young, playing catch with his mom in their backyard in Texas. Matt Henry's Final Over Heroics Secure New Zealand's Tri-Series Win
Last Updated: Matt Henry's two wickets in the final over led New Zealand to a three-run victory over South Africa in the Zimbabwe T20 tri-series final. Matt Henry took two wickets in the final over, leading New Zealand to a three-run victory over South Africa in the final of the Zimbabwe T20 international tri-series at Harare Sports Club on Saturday. Chasing New Zealand's total of 180 for five, South Africa were close to winning when Dewald Brevis scored 15 runs, including two sixes, off the penultimate over bowled by Zakary Foulkes. South Africa needed seven runs off the last over. It appeared that Brevis might have hit another six off the second ball, but Michael Bracewell, positioned at deep midwicket, held the high hit and calmly tossed the ball up before stepping over the rope and then stepping back to complete the catch. Three runs were scored off the next two balls before Daryl Mitchell took a diving catch at long-on to dismiss George Linde. Henry then finished the match with a dot ball. Fast bowler Henry was named both player of the match and player of the tournament after finishing as the leading wicket-taker with ten wickets. 'South Africa got off to a flier," Henry remarked about South Africa's opening stand of 92 between Lhuan-dre Pretorius (51) and Reeza Hendricks (37). 'It's a credit to our team for staying in the fight, knowing wickets can change things." 'Guys stepped up on different occasions throughout this tri-series," said Santner. 'There were a lot of challenges with the ball today but the guys were ready and really clear on how they wanted to operate." South African captain Rassie van der Dussen expressed pride in how a young team, missing several key players, had competed. 'A centimetre more and the result would have been different," he said. Tim Seifert (30) and Devon Conway (47) put on 75 runs for New Zealand's first wicket, and Rachin Ravindra contributed a hard-hit 47 off 27 balls before South Africa's tactic of bowling low full tosses kept the total in check towards the end of the innings. South Africa also lost momentum after their fast start before Brevis hit 31 off 16 balls, including three sixes – which nearly became four. A lengthy review by the television umpire was required to determine if Bracewell had stepped on the boundary rope while still holding the ball.
