Plans approved in Manchester for tallest UK tower outside London
Salboy previously said the 76-storey tower would become the tallest residential building in Western Europe. A spokesman for the developer said the flats would be "luxury residences" aimed at meeting demand for "high-quality accommodation for the international city's residents and visitors". Meanwhile the smaller building would include 133 affordable apartments, he added. Mr Ismail said the firm was "delighted" with the approval and said the scheme, known as Viadux 2, would help meet the "substantial need" for accommodation at different price points and tenure types.The developer, founded in 2014 by BetFred owner Fred Done is behind many of the high-rise developments across Salford and Manchester.

Glasgow cafe announced shock closure after eight years
Potbelly on Victoria Road in the Southside revealed it will be closing down this weekend. In a Facebook post, the eatery said the 'time has finally come' for them to 'close their doors for good' after eight and a half years. The food spot, previously located on Nithsdale Road, went on to thank its 'loyal and generous' punters from over the years. "We can't thank everyone who has been a part of the businesses through the years enough (mushier post to follow) - or our loyal and gorgeous customers, but it's time for us to move in a new direction. "This weekend will be our last, and it'll be lovely to see some old faces before we go. "This also means that our lease at 522 Victoria Road is available for assignment. "Thanks, all - it's been real."

European football's governing body, Uefa, has slapped the Blues with a £27million fine. Conditional breaches of Uefa's financial rules mean Chelsea risk being hit with a further £60m fine. Premier League rivals Aston Villa have also been slapped with a fine. However, the Villans breach is far less severe. The Midlands outfit have been fined £9.5m. They then have a further £15m in conditional fines for additional breaches of the Uefa financial rules. Both clubs punishments come in the form of agreed settlements. A Uefa statement also revealed Sporting Disciplinary Measures against the two teams. These include both clubs not being allowed to register new players on their A List to Uefa Club competitions unless they have a positive transfer balance. Uefa's statement indicates both Chelsea and Villa could be under scrutiny of this agreement for four years. The terms "unconditionally" apply in the 2025/26 and 2026/27 seasons. They also "conditionally" apply in 2027/28, if the club has a football earnings deficit in the 2026 reporting period.
