However, in his Test retirement note, Rohit had mentioned that he will continue to play in the ODIs. Virat too recently mentioned that he wants to play ODI cricket till the 2027 World Cup in South Africa.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla, speaking to reporters in London, has maintained that the duo are available for ODIs.
"I want to make it very clear once and for all," said Shukla.
"
Hum sabko bhi Rohit aur Virat ki kami hoti hai (We also miss Rohit and Virat). Lekin Rohit aur Virat ne khud ye faisla liya hai
(But Rohit and Virat have taken this decision on their own).
"
BCCI ki ye policy hai ki hum kabhi kisi player ko nahi kehte ki kab aur kis format se retirement lena chahiye
(BCCI has a very strict policy that we don't tell any player when or from which format they should retire).
Ye player ke upar hota hai, in dono ka khud ka faisla tha
(It is up to the players, and the duo made their own decision to quit Test cricket).

'Stung your a**': Channing Crowder torches Hallie Aiono, accuses her of using pregnancy to scam NFL star Puka Nacua
Channing Crowder torches Hallie Aiono (Image via Bleacher Report) In a jaw-dropping segment from The Pivot Podcast, former NFL linebacker Channing Crowder tore into Hallie Aiono, the pregnant girlfriend of Los Angeles Rams star Puka Nacua, following her paternity petition filed in Los Angeles County last month. The 18-year-old wide receiver, known for his breakout rookie season, now finds himself in the middle of a growing controversy that extends far beyond the football field. Hallie Aiono files for full physical custody amid paternity questions Hallie Aiono, who began dating Nacua during his college days at BYU, filed a paternity suit on June 16, requesting legal confirmation of Nacua's paternity, full physical custody of their unborn son, and shared legal custody covering education, healthcare, and financial expenses. This follows her emotional Mother's Day Instagram post, in which she wrote, 'You were something we always dreamt of, but I have never been so afraid... I can't wait to love you forever, my sweet boy.' The story took a turn after Crowder made his views clear, casting serious doubt on Aiono's intentions and character during Saturday's podcast episode. Channing Crowder doesn't hold back, calls the situation a 'spider's web' Crowder held nothing back as he speculated on Aiono's behavior and what it could have meant for Nacua's future. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo He even suggested that the Rams receiver was fortunate to escape long-term financial entanglement. 'Congratulations, brother. You got out the spider's web before it stung your ass,' Crowder said. 'She helped him out with this... You don't even know who was skating in you and when you got skated in.' According to Crowder, the situation saved Nacua from potentially paying child support for 18 years. 'This was great for him. Think about it. 18 years. If he had paid for this baby and did all this—18 years. 18 years,' he emphasized. Crowder also brought cultural context into the conversation, highlighting Polynesian values of family loyalty and the pressure Nacua might have felt to stay with Aiono had he believed the child was his. 'If you were in it for the money, you had one job,' Clark said. 'Y'all were together all over the NFL sites... The one job you had was to not have sex with somebody else... and you couldn't wait.' He ended his remarks by saying, 'I pray that's not your baby.' 'Forgive me for degrading': Former England captain reflects on sledging in Lord's Test, recalls Kohli-Konstas clash
Former England captain Michael Atherton tried to explain the difference between different on-field spats between players and in the process highlighted the in famous Virat Kohli and Sam Konstas battle. read more The Lord's Test had everything that a typical demanding cricket fan would have asked for. From enthralling contests between bat and bowl to competitive battles between bowlers and batsmen, it was an edge-of-a-seat thriller till the action ceased on Day 5. As both teams went toe to toe, there was an inclination that neither side wanted to leave no stone unturned. Hence, tempers flared on occasions. Also Read | 'You set yourself up, don't you?': Jos Butler on how Washington Sundar's words fired up England at Lord's STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Michael Atherton remembers the famous Kohli-Konstas battle Recollecting the on-field feuds, Mohammed Siraj and Ben Duckett had a nasty confrontation. Then, there was one between Ravindra Jadeje and Brydon Carse on the final Day. Shubman Gill also showcased his animated side when he hurled a mouthful towards Zak Crawley on Day 3. A similar drama unfolded on Day 4 too. Thus, that part of the game was also visible at regular intervals over five days. Some fans deem this as entertainment, however, former England player Michael Atherton does not come in the same bracket. Atherton wrote a lengthy column for The Times and tried to explain what kind of spat between the players is justifiable. The former England captain brought forward a few instances where players were involved in ugly arguments and attempted to categorise between what is fair and justified and what is not. To make things clear, he cited the example of the in-famous incident that took place between Virat Kohli and Sam Konstas during the Boxing Day Test between India and Australia in December 2024. 'Forgive me for degrading the report of a great match with this nonsense, but wouldn't spectators rather see players caring too much, rather than too little, about playing Tests? No one, of course, wants to see physical altercations on the field of play, or sustained nasty verbal abuse. There should be no place, for example, for the shoulder barge that Virat Kohli initiated in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne last Christmas, when he diverted from his path to deliberately walk into Sam Konstas. In a match where there was plenty of spice and niggle, tempers flared as Carse and Jadeja collided mid-pitch, although the impact was entirely accidental, after Jadeja had deflected the ball towards third man, with both players ball-watching rather than minding each other's path,' he wrote.
