The Avatar franchise is set to return to the big screen later this year with the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, and fans have been given a first look at what's to come.
Avatar Fire And Ash won't be hitting cinemas until later this year but the freshly unveiled trailer has already left fans absolutely "hyped".

Director James Cameron is once again at the helm with the third instalment in the spectacular action sci-fi franchise Avatar making its return to the big screen.

Avatar Fire And Ash will centre around Jake (played by Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) once more, this time tracking their family as they wrestle with heartbreak following the death of Neteyam (Jamie Flatters).

They also encounter the hostile Na'vi tribe, known as the Ash People, commanded by the fierce Varang (Oona Chaplin), with tensions on Pandora reaching boiling point.
Fans have now been given the first trailer for Avatar Fire and Ash, offering a glimpse of what lies ahead.

From the breathtaking landscapes of Pandora to the Na'vi soaring through the heavens on their Mountain Banshees, the trailer once more delves into the magical realm that's been absent from cinema screens for the past three years.
It also unveils the Ash People's commander Varang, portrayed by Game of Thrones' Oona Chaplin, sporting an enormous red headdress and guiding her tribe into warfare.
Viewers have subsequently flocked to social media to share their enthusiasm about the trailer's debut.

One person posted: "Every frame in Avatar : Fire and Ash looks like a painting, these shots are insane, serving pure visual feast. Cinema is back."
Another concurred: "I don't know how someone can watch that Fire & Ash trailer and not be invested. Incredible visuals and storytelling. James Cameron."

A third branded it the "most hyped film of the year", whilst a fellow enthusiast wrote: "Avatar: Fire and Ash looks incredible.
"I know the haters will probably find this, but it's such an incredible thing to witness these movies on the big screen. I can't wait to see this saga unfold."
Teasing what supporters can anticipate from the upcoming instalment, Cameron revealed at the D23 Expo: "You'll see a lot more Pandora that you never saw before.
"It's an insane adventure and a feast for the eyes, but it's also got very high emotional stakes, more than ever before. We're going into really challenging territory for all the characters you know and love."

Star of iconic 80s action blockbusters is unrecognizable in rare sighting... can you guess who he is?

An actor who starred in a string of iconic 1980s blockbusters was unrecognizable during a rare public sighting this week. At the peak of his fame, he was known for his collaborations with a director who went on to make two of the highest-grossing pictures of all time. In the 1990s, he acted alongside famous faces ranging from Charlie Sheen and Nicolas Cage to Angelina Jolie and Kurt Russell. He cut a distinguished figure when he surfaced in sweltering Los Angeles this Thursday - the day he celebrated his 69th birthday. The actor wore a casually stylish ensemble of a black t-shirt and matching jeans when he was glimpsed emerging from a supermarket. Can you guess who he is? He is none other than Michael Biehn, known to 1980s sci-fi fans as leading man Sgt. Kyle Reese in The Terminator and supporting character Cpl. Dwayne Hicks in Aliens. In The Terminator, Kyle Reese is a soldier in the resistance against a futuristic AI takeover, and enlists in a time-travel mission to stop Arnold Schwarzenegger's title character from murdering Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor. Aliens saw Michael cast opposite Sigourney Weaver, as members of a space crew desperately trying to survive an onslaught by malign extraterrestrials. Both movies were helmed by James Cameron, who directed Michael again in the 1989 sci-fi thriller The Abyss, featuring him alongside Ed Harris. Michael also briefly appeared as Kyle in the director's cut of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, in a scene that was cut from the theatrical version. Born in Alabama in 1958, Michael landed his film debut with an uncredited bit part in the 1978 film Grease, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. Three years later, he played his breakthrough part in the thriller The Fan, leading the film as murderous super-fan stalking a stage actress played by Lauren Bacall. After his sci-fi successes of the 1980s, Michael acted in the 1990s with Charlie Sheen in Navy SEALs, Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer in Tombstone, Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage in The Rock and Angelina Jolie in Mojave Moon. He cut a distinguished figure when he surfaced in sweltering Los Angeles this Thursday - the day he celebrated his 69th birthday However his career fizzled during that decade and he descended into a period of alcoholism that ended when he went on the wagon in 2008. Reflecting on his past work in a 2019 interview, he said: 'People always talk about me being an '80s star. I was not an '80s star. Bruce Willis was an '80s star. Tom Cruise was an '80s star. Schwarzenegger and Stallone. Mel Gibson. Those guys were making $20 million [a picture]. I never even got $1 million. I kind of liked it that way.' He noted: 'I have five boys and that was always important to me that I was going to be closer to them than I was to the movie business,' via The Hollywood Reporter. Michael welcomed his sons over the course of three marriages, the most recent of which is to actress Jennifer Blanc, whom he married in 2015 and is with to this day. 'The amount of movies Bruce Willis makes,' Michael said in 2019: 'I don't see how you can live a normal life where you see your kids all the time, you're taking them to school and baseball practice and you're coaching their teams. You're in their lives.' James Cameron observed: 'Maybe what held Michael back was that he didn't like playing the Hollywood game — schmoozing people and all that. For him it was all about the work. And also the path to stardom is capricious, and can turn on a single choice. Every time you take a part the road forks.' The director reflected: 'Major stardom passed him by, but that's not the point. He's done great work in many films over the years, and is well loved and respected for a few iconic characters. Who can forget Johnny Ringo in Tombstone?'

Woman who died for two minutes says she saw our ‘true home'

Hiyah Zaidi Published July 30, 2025 10:09am Link is copied Comments No one really knows what happens when we die. Some say we see a white light, others – pure nothingness. But Nicole Meeuws says she saw something different when she flatlined for two minutes, claiming she experienced 'the original home from which we all come from'. So, what did she see? (Picture: Nicole Meeuws/Facebook) When the 49-year-old artist from Greece underwent emergency surgery having sadly lost her baby, she says her body gave out. Nicole told Need To Know she felt herself pulled into a tunnel of light, something like a corridor that moved with her. She claims the air had weight and temperature, and sounded like music made of water – fluid, pulsing, and familiar (Picture: Nicole Meeuws/Facebook) But that wasn't all. Nicole said that she entered a glowing space filled with silver, soft violet, and deep, radiant blue. Everything around her pulsed gently like a heartbeat, and that's when she saw two blue-skinned beings with large indigo eyes, like those in the film Avatar, sitting on thrones that shimmered with energy (Picture: Nicole Meeuws/Facebook) She said: 'Their eyes were large and indigo, filled with kindness and recognition. They looked human, but had gentle gills on their cheeks. I remember seeing their fish-like tails, rather than legs, covered in scales. They were both male and female intertwined and didn't speak in words – but I understood everything they had to tell me' (Picture: Nicole Meeuws/Facebook) Nicole said they made her feel at home and told her, telepathically, that life is actually an illusion and we only start living when we die. She said: 'I felt more known than I had ever felt in my life; I didn't want to leave. I understood this place, this feeling, and I truly believe it was the original home from which we all come from. I learned that death is not an end, it's a return to our actual lives' (Picture: Nicole Meeuws/Facebook) Nicole believes that she wasn't meant to have children and her gift was to bring this memory of the other side back to Earth and help others. After a few minutes, but what she says felt like a lifetime, she was 'zapped' back into her physical body. Her husband, a specialist doctor, was with her but at first she could not speak – only emit a high-pitched, unfamiliar sound she compared to dolphin clicks, which she said was coming through her, describing it as overwhelming and completely beyond her control (Picture: Nicole Meeuws/Facebook) Now, she says she often has visions of the blue beings who greeted her on the other side, and believes they are from the Apkallu interdimensional tribe, which are non-alien creatures, also know as Demigods, that are said to have given civilisation to mankind. Nicole says they gave her a mission to spread the message that love is stronger than death. She said: 'Love will always win; it's where we came from. We're all one big family, regardless of boundaries, cultures, religion and politics. Everything that exists came from the same spark. The more we hold onto fear, hate and lies, the easier it is to control humanity. To create heaven on Earth, we must spend each day spreading love. I'm no longer afraid of death because I know what's waiting for me on the other side. It was a beginning, not an end' (Picture: Nicole Meeuws/Facebook) Your free newsletter guide to the best London has on offer, from drinks deals to restaurant reviews.
