Carmarthenshire couple on more than 20 years of fostering
The couple, who transferred to Foster Wales Carmarthenshire in 2016 after starting their fostering journey in 2004, began fostering on the encouragement of a relative. After learning about fostering, they decided to start and have been committed ever since. They originally fostered through an Independent Fostering Agency for 12 years, specialising in long-term placements. In 2016, they moved to Foster Wales Carmarthenshire, drawn by the extra support and rewards available. The couple said: "The transfer process was very simple. "Everyone was friendly and welcoming. "Our first impressions of the Local Authority were that there was far more support and financial help. "All of a sudden, we had extra funding for holidays, birthdays, and Christmas, which was a great help." They have continued to value the emotional and practical support from the fostering team, including regular training and supervision. They said: "Our social workers and all the teams we work with are so helpful. "Whenever I need someone, there is always help and support there. "We get regular training and supervision. "The training is very valuable, and they use excellent trainers." Their experience with Foster Wales Carmarthenshire has reinforced their sense of being part of a wider community. They said: "I would highly recommend the Local Authority due to the level of support. "We are one big professional family around the children." A particularly meaningful milestone for the couple was becoming foster grandparents. They said: "We became foster grandparents to our first ever placement, placed in 2004. "Despite so many challenges, she has been very successful in life and is a great mother and partner to her boyfriend." Cllr Jane Tremlett, cabinet member for adult social services and children and families, said: "Foster carers play an incredible role in changing the lives of children and young people in foster care, and it is so important that they receive the right support to continue making a difference. "We are here to guide foster carers through every step of the process, ensuring continuity for them and the children and young people in their care."

In a landmark initiative set to transform Dubai's real estate landscape, Dubai Land Department (DLD) and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) have launched the First-Time Home Buyer Programme. Designed to make homeownership more accessible and financially affordable for Emiratis and expatriates, the programme offers priority access to new launches, preferential pricing, and tailored mortgage solutions. It aligns with the Dubai Real Estate Strategy 2033 objectives to raise homeownership rates and double the sector's contribution to Dubai's First-Time Home Buyer Programme was officially launched on 2 July during a press conference at Dubai Land Department attended by Majid Al Marri, CEO of Real Estate Registration Sector at Dubai Land Department, and Hadi Badri, CEO of the Dubai Economic Development Corporation (DEDC), the economic development arm of DET, as well as other senior officials from DLD, DET, and key strategic partners, including prominent banks and real estate developers. Supporting the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, and Dubai Real Estate Strategy 2033, which aims to double the size of Dubai's economy, the initiative further contributes to the goals of UAE's Year of Community by strengthening social cohesion and economic resilience. The First-Time Home Buyer programme showcases the power of collaborative partnerships between Dubai's public and private sectors, which has become a defining characteristic of the city's economic strategy. Leading developers already committed to the programme include Azizi Developments, Beyond developments, Binghatti Holding, DAMAC Properties, Danube properties, Dubai Properties, Ellington Properties, Emaar Properties, Majid Al Futtaim Group, Meraas, Nakheel, Palma Holding, and Wasl. These partners are offering unprecedented support to first-time home buyers through priority access to units in new off-plan launches, and enhanced commercial terms, including preferential pricing on units up to AED 5 banks include Commercial Bank of Dubai, Dubai Islamic Bank, Emirates NBD, Emirates Islamic and Mashreq bank will provide tailored mortgage products designed specifically for eligible buyers.
