For afternoon tea connoisseurs who have been there, done that, this is a must-try. Served in the huge lobby of the world-famous hotel, next to the water droplet sculpture and just back from the fire walls on entry, there's a lot to catch your interest at this one.

Bijou Patisserie

This super-cute spot is home to one of the best afternoon teas in Dubai, having picked up this award in the past. Served in a vault, this is another that has a fun twist on a classic tea setup.
Being at a French patisserie the cakes, as you'd expect, are exceptional, though there aren't any scones (word for the purists). You'll not feel like you're missing out those as the pastries and sweet treats are so delightful.
Expect canelé, madeleine, millefeuille and more, as well as savoury stuffed croissants, brioche and éclair.

Held in its striking lobby with views over Marasi Bay Marina, afternoon tea at The Lana is a sophisticated event created by award-winning pastry chef Angelo Musa. Begin with an assortment of six traditional finger sandwiches, including coronation chicken, lobster & prawn, and truffle egg. These are followed with raisin and plain scones served with Devon clotted cream and the chef's signature jams.
Pastries are the highlight here, including a rich chocolate ganache tart and Paris-Brest, with everything presented on the most delicate porcelain. You won't pour your tea out of a finer pot than this.

Afternoon tea at Burj Al Arab is a bucket-list experience that doesn't disappoint. This year, the experience relocated from the Sahn Eddar lobby café to the 27th floor Skyview Lounge with stunning views of the Arabian Gulf.

Sweet bites follow, with perfectly executed choux pastries, shortbread and sponge among them. It is one of the most high-end afternoon teas and a wonderful opportunity to see the city from a high vantage point.

The Sandman – Season 2 Episode 6 'Family Blood' Recap & Review

Episode 6 Episode 6 of The Sandman Season 2 begins in England, 1794. Lady Johanna Constantine is visited by Morpheus, 5 years after their first meeting. He tasks her with the retrieval of Orpheus' head. Seems like he ended up in France and Robespierre locked him up out of fear of his oracle powers. In Paris, Johanna is able to steal back the head but two soldiers spot her. While she hides, she and Orpheus bond. He misses his father and wonders if Morpheus is behind his rescue. Johanna looks sad as Morpheus has forbidden her from revealing her employer. In the morning, Robespierre and his men show up. Unable to find Orpheus, they arrest Johanna. Via her dream, Morpheus too asks after Orpheus. Johanna shares how he is lively and how his spirit hasn't been broken. She asks for help and Morpheus suggests a song. In the waking world, Robespierre gives Johanna a chance to return Orpheus. She pretends to agree. She has hidden him among the guillotined heads and retrieves him. On cue, he sings a song of liberty. The soldiers fall into a trance, allowing Johanna and Orpheus to leave. Soon after, Robespierre is guillotined for his reign of terror. Our unlikely duo returns to Orpheus' island. Johanna doesn't want to part ways and suggests visiting Orpheus. He doesn't think it is a good idea as he doesn't want her to fall for a severed head. But he wishes his father would visit and she tells Morpheus so. The Dream King deflects and asks for her fee. She simply wants more time with Orpheus. At present, we see that she has been buried on the island as Delirium and Morpheus arrive. Delirium is nervous and tries to stop Morpheus from kicking off the chain of events that will lead him to killing his son. If an Endless kills one family, the Three Sisters' wrath is brought on the killer. However, Morpheus wants to put his son out of his misery and goes inside. Orpheus is glad to see him and they have a bittersweet reunion as both apologise for their foolishness. Delirium is waiting outside and looks sad once Morpheus returns. However, they have got what they came for – Destruction lives on an island nearby. Unsurprisingly, this second reunion is bittersweet as well. Having accepted their stubbornness, Destruction is happy to see Delirium and Morpheus. Delirium peppers him with questions about his disappearances while Morpheus is angry with him for taking innocent lives as warnings. This amuses Destruction who reminds Morpheus that the old him never cared for humanity. Morpheus continues to provoke him, calling him out for abandoning his responsibilities. But Destruction refuses to return. He reveals that he doesn't have to be present for destruction to exist; it is an independent function. And he refuses to take the blame for it. And while he is glad to see his siblings, he doesn't want anyone to find him again. Delirium begs him to return as she is lonely and he asks Barnabas to stay with her. He then points out that Morpheus has changed for the better, helping Delirium and Orpheus. He reminds Morpheus that he loves humanity which is why he left; he doesn't want to be responsible for their destruction. He hugs his siblings and leaves for the stars. Delirium is glad that she got closure but her smile falls when she remembers the boon which is indeed Orpheus' death. Orpheus is relieved when Morpheus returns. The Dream King confesses that he initially refused to kill Orpheus as he didn't want to live in a world without his son. Morpheus finally kills him and then bids Delirium farewell. He is in a daze as he arrives in the Dreaming. He tells Lucienne to have the priests bury Orpheus. Alone, he struggles to wash the blood from his hands and he finally tears up. At the end of The Sandman Season 2 Episode 6, the Three Sisters are busy drinking tea and knitting. They learn of the filicide and the younger two sisters are sympathetic as they try to delay fate. However, the oldest reminds them of the rules and that Morpheus needs to pay for killing his son. She cuts a thread. The Episode Review The Sandman Season 2 Episode 6 is the perfect point to split the season and could have also worked as a finale had this not been the final season. All major conflicts and storylines are wrapped up, everyone gets closure, including Delirium and Orpheus, and it ends on a satisfying and almost positive note. And there are enough clues hinting at what happens next. There's the aftermath of the prophecy, and what Fate has in store for Morpheus following the killing of his son. He also believes something otherworldly forced him to look for Destruction. However, that 'otherworldly' force could also just be him missing his brother and wanting to help Delirium. Destruction's parting words suggest that, since he is proud of Morpheus changing into a more compassionate being. But the last few flashbacks in this chapter also prove that this change hasn't been sudden or only due to Morpheus imprisonment at the hands of Burgess. 18th-century him is still arrogant but he cares for his son, rescuing him, asking after him and allowing Johanna to be buried on the island so that Orpheus is not alone. His character development has been gradual but enough to not only make him likeable but also an anti-hero to root for. Boy, we do hope nothing bad happens to him in the second part which marks the end of his story… Previous Episode Next Episode Expect A Full Season Write-Up When This Season Concludes!

William and Kate to join King and Queen for Macron's Windsor carriage ride

Kate, who has opened up about her 'rollercoaster' cancer recovery, its life-changing impact and putting on a 'brave face', will carry out royal duties as part of the French leader's state visit on Tuesday. Kensington Palace has yet to confirm whether or not the princess will attend the banquet in Windsor Castle's St George's Hall in the evening. The princess, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2024 and confirmed she was free from the disease at the start of this year, last made an appearance at a grand royal dinner 20 months ago in November 2023 in honour of the South Korean president. Mr Macron's state visit to the UK, from July 8-10, is the first to be hosted at Windsor Castle, rather than Buckingham Palace, in a more than a decade since that of the Irish president Michael D Higgins in 2014. In a personal touch, the King and Queen will, on Wednesday, take the Macrons to see Fabuleu de Maucour, a 10-year-old grey gelding which Mr Macron gifted to known horse-lover the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 in celebration of her Platinum Jubilee. Fabuleu de Maucour belonged to the largely ceremonial French Republican Guard and was trained to carry the standard-bearer. Fabuleu de Maucour, the horse gifted by @EmmanuelMacron to HM The Queen in 2022 for her Platinum Jubilee, was today present at the Brigade Major's Review. Riding Fabuleu was Master of the Horse, Lord De Mauley. Watch this space to see them on 17 June for Trooping the Colour!🐴 — French Embassy UK🇫🇷🇪🇺 (@FranceintheUK) June 1, 2023 They will also view an elegant Charabanc carriage from the Royal Mews, which was a present to Queen Victoria from King Louis-Philippe of France in 1844. And the Macrons will privately pay their respects at the late Queen's tomb in St George's Chapel by laying flowers in tribute. Charles, Ranger of Windsor Great Park, will also invite the president to tour the Windsor Castle Gardens, including areas of nature restoration and biodiversity and the wider Great Park. State visits, which capitalise on the royals' soft power to strengthen diplomatic ties overseas, have moved from Buckingham Palace to Windsor for the next few years while reservicing work continues at the London royal residence and starts to affect the state rooms. The arrangements are likely to form the template for US president Donald Trump's high-profile state visit in September, but much will depend on security considerations for the US leader, who survived an assassination attempt last year. William and Kate will meet Mr and Mrs Macron at RAF Northolt on Tuesday morning on behalf of the King and travel with them to Windsor. Charles and Camilla will formerly greet their guests on a Royal Dais constructed on Datchet Road in Windsor town centre, with the castle in the backdrop as gun salutes sound in nearby Home Park. The King, the Queen, the Waleses and Mr and Mrs Macron will then take a carriage procession through the Berkshire town and along part of the Long Walk which leads to the castle, just like President Sarkozy did. A ceremonial welcome will be staged in the castle's quadrangle with Camilla, William, Kate and Mrs Macron watching as the King and Mr Macron inspect the Guard of Honour. Lunch will be hosted in the State Dining Room, after which the president and his wife, the King and Queen and members of the royal family will view a special exhibition of items relating to France from the Royal Collection in the Green Drawing Room. Mr and Mrs Macron will also travel to London on Tuesday afternoon to see the Grave of the Unknown Warrior at Westminster Abbey, visit the Palace of Westminster where the French leader will address parliamentarians in the Royal Gallery, and meet opposition leaders at Lancaster House. The King and president will both deliver speeches at the banquet on Tuesday evening. Wednesday will see the president and Mrs Macron join Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Lady Starmer for lunch at Downing Street, ahead of a UK-France summit at Number 10 on Thursday. The King and Queen paid a state visit to France in September 2023 and enjoy a warm rapport with Mr and Mrs Macron, who will stay in the castle during their trip. The last state visit to the UK from France was in March 2008 when the now-disgraced president Nicolas Sarkozy, since convicted of corruption and influence peddling, and his wife Carla Bruni, were the guests of Elizabeth II at Windsor. The King, who is still being treated for cancer, has had a busy recent run of engagements, carrying out a host of visits in Scotland for Royal Week. Kate, who spoke about the challenges of her recovery during a visit to the RHS's Wellbeing Garden at Colchester Hospital on Wednesday, took part in the Qatari state visit last December, accompanying the Emir to Horse Guards Parade with William, attending the ceremonial welcome, the lunch and the Picture Gallery exhibition.

Music fan stunned as she bumps into Britpop legend in Eurostar queue – would you have recognised him?

A MUSIC fan was left stunned after bumping into a Britpop legend in the queue for Eurostar. During the band's heyday, they won a Mercury Music Prize, had three number one albums and eight Top 10 singles among many others. 4 4 In fact, Suede were part of the 'Big Four' in Britpop alongside Oasis, Blur and Pulp. And while Oasis fans are gearing up to see the Gallagher brothers reunite for the first time in decades from tonight, one lucky Britpop fan got some one on one time with Suede frontman Brett Anderson. Taking to Instagram to share a selfie with the 57-year-old singer, the delighted fan wrote: "YOU GUYS I just spent the time in the Eurostar passport/security line talking to BRETT ANDERSON FROM SUEDE who is easily like, top five nicest people I've ever met and also HE LOOKS PERFECT????? "It is 100 DEGREES IN PARIS right now and this MF looks FLAWLESS???? Meanwhile I have sweat stains on every inch of my clothing." Indeed, Brett looked suave in a blue open-necked shirt and a pinstripe suit jacket, with his dark hair sweeping across his forehead. nice, nobody else has any excuse." Other music fans were quick to comment, with one writing: "Omg this is so great." A third incorporated lyrics from one of Suede's songs as they commented: "Omg a dream come true! [flame emojis] maybe maybe it's the clothes he wears." Suede first formed in 1989 and were branded "The Best New Band in Britain" by Melody Maker in 1992. Liam Gallagher's Zen Retreat: Inside the Rock Legend's Country Estate A year later, their debut self-titled album hit the number one spot on the UK Album Charts and won the Mercury Music Prize. Their other hits include Stay Together, Trash, She's in Fashion and Beautiful Ones. The group disbanded in 2003 before reuniting in 2010 for a series of concerts and have continued to produce new music ever since. Their upcoming tenth album, Antidepressants, is set for release in September. 4
