'It Was A Conspiracy': RSS's Bhaiyyaji Joshi Hails Court Verdict On Malegaon Blast
RSS leader Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi welcomed the NIA court's acquittal of all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, including Pragya Thakur, calling it a vindication.
Days after a special NIA court in Mumbai acquitted all seven accused in the Malegaon blast case, RSS leader Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi on Sunday welcomed the court's verdict, stating that it vindicates the organisation's long-held claims of a conspiracy. 'We were saying for a long time that it was a conspiracy, and after the court's verdict, it has been proved," Joshi said.
Joshi emphasised that the verdict is a significant development and called upon government agencies to investigate further to uncover those who allegedly conspired behind the incident.
'This is a big thing. Now, government agencies should look for those who conspired in all this," news agency PTI quoted Joshi as saying.
The Malegaon blast case refers to the 2008 bombings in Malegaon, Maharashtra, a town with a significant Muslim population, in which six people were killed and around 100 were injured.
A special NIA court on Thursday acquitted all seven accused, including Former BJP MP Pragya Thakur, in connection with the 2008 Malegaon blasts, noting that the prosecution had failed to establish the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) had claimed that an explosive-laden motorcycle used in the blasts belonged to Thakur, and she was arrested in 2008.

‘Cat Meat Tastes Better Than Human': Kerala Man's Grisly Instagram Story Triggers Probe

A disturbing video of a man killing a cat and sharing the footage on Instagram has triggered outrage in Kerala, prompting a police investigation. The accused has been identified as Shajeer, a lorry driver from Cherpulassery in Palakkad district. The video, posted as an Instagram Story from the account 'Shajeer_Tool', first showed the cat being fed. What followed was far more horrifying as another clip showing the cat's head and body parts separated was uploaded. As the footage circulated on social media, users flagged it to the police. Cherpulassery police have launched a probe and are verifying the authenticity of the video. Preliminary findings suggest Shajeer is currently in Tamil Nadu. The police are trying to trace his exact location. According to Kerala Kaumudi, when questioned informally about the act, Shajeer allegedly said, 'Cat meat tastes better than human meat." Authorities are still trying to establish where the video was filmed. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation. Under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, killing or maiming an animal is a punishable offence. The new law, part of the overhaul that replaced the Indian Penal Code, clearly states that anyone who kills, poisons, or renders an animal useless can face up to five years in jail, a fine, or both. The act may also attract charges under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, which lays down additional penalties for causing unnecessary pain or suffering to animals. While extreme cases of consuming pets are rare in India, this is not an isolated incident. In Chennai, residents in July 2025 sounded the alarm over a group of youths from the Narikorava community allegedly trapping and killing residential cats for meat, later selling it to roadside eateries as chicken or mutton biryani, according to a report by the Times Of India. CM Rekha Gupta forms committees for new excise, EV policies in Delhi
Agency: PTI Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 4 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday announced the constitution of two separate committees for the formulation of the excise policy and EV Policy 2.0. The excise policy committee will be headed by PWD Minister Parvesh Verma, while the electric vehicle policy committee will be headed by Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood, she said. In a post on X, the chief minister said, 'Keeping social security in focus, the Delhi government has constituted a high-level committee to formulate a transparent excise policy, which will be headed by Cabinet Minister Shri @p_sahibsingh. 'Additionally, a special committee has been formed under the leadership of Cabinet Minister Shri @ashishsood_bjp to develop an effective and public-oriented EV (Electric Vehicle) policy for Delhi. Our government is committed to the holistic development of Delhi and is continuously taking decisions in the public interest. #ViksitDelhi," she said. Both the excise policy and EV policy have been extended multiple times in the absence of new policies. In June this year, the government extended its excise policy for the financial year 2025–26. The current policy was extended with effect from July 1 to March 31, 2026. The extended policy, also known as the old excise policy, came into operation in September 2022 after the then Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government scrapped its reformative policy (2021–22) that ran into rough weather amid allegations of irregularities in its formulation and implementation. The Delhi government had extended the current Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy until March 31, 2026, as the draft of the new policy will undergo public consultation, which is expected to take time, Transport Minister Pankaj Singh had said last month. The current EV policy, which was first introduced in 2020 during the previous Aam Aadmi Party rule, lapsed in August 2023. The policy has been extended several times since then.
