Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Knox Mutizwa, Moloisane, Rhodes, R15 million

Kaizer Chiefs have been encouraged to sign more quality players after three consecutive losses in the Netherlands.
Amakhosi are currently wrapping up their pre-season camp in the Netherlands, but things have not been going well result-wise. The team has suffered three losses against Dutch teams. In those matches, Amakhosi only scored once and conceded seven times.
Some fans feel this tour should be a wake-up call for Nasreddine Nabi and Amakhosi management. So far, the club has signed six players during the current transfer period.
Knox Mutizwa
The 31-year-old Golden Arrows striker has been one of the most consistent forwards in the PSL over the years. He has scored over 50 goals in the past seven years and is often regarded as the 'Kaizer Chiefs slayer'.
Instead of Falvio Silva, Amakhosi should have brought in Mutizwa. Silva has looked sluggish in the pre-season so far.
Jaedin Rhodes
The 22-year-old midfielder is one of the players linked to Chiefs, If the Soweto giants can pull this move off, they will at least have a quality attacking midfielder who can give the club options upfront.
Thabo Moloisane
Kaizer Chiefs need experience at the back and Moloisane is someone who can stablise Amakhosi's defence. Having let in 32 goals last season, it's clear to see the team's problem is mainly in defence.
Another player the club can go for is Elias Mokwana but his club Esperance want R15 million for the Bafana Bafana winger.
Kaizer Chiefs will play their final two practice matches in the Netherlands before returning home.

‘No shortcut to success,' says Dr Kaizer Motaung after Wits honour

Kaizer Motaung has always been a man of few words but big on action. But when Wits University honoured the Kaizer Chiefs boss with an honorary Doctor of Commerce accolade at the institution's Great Hall on Tuesday, he spoke like someone who did not want to stop talking, regaling the media and audience with how he started the Chiefs brand 55 years ago. This was a second honorary doctorate to Motaung, 80, after the University of Cape Town bestowed the title Doctor of Social Science Honoris Causa on him in July 2022 for his contribution to football and social development in the country. In November 2023 the South African Hall of Fame inducted Motaung 'for his enduring commitment and positive influence on countless lives through sports and community engagement'. Speaking to the media with Wits vice-chancellor professor Zeblon Vilakazi, Motaung beamed with happiness at the latest honour at the institution he always regarded as one of the best in the country.

'I know that Austrian football is very intensive and physical. Ried has a great atmosphere in their stadium, and the fans are known for it.' Maart also penned an emotional letter and thanked Chiefs as well as his previous club, Sekhukhune United, for how his career had turned out. The Capetonian actually began his professional career in the colours of Orlando Pirates. However, things didn't pan out, and after a brief loan spell to Cape Umoya United, he secured a move to Sekhukhune United, where he started to make an impact. After helping Sekhukhune earn promotion to the Betway Premiership, he moved to Kaizer Chiefs and quickly became one of their key players. He was the club's captain last season and scored the winning goal in the Nedbank Cup final against Pirates. Read Maart's full letter below: Firstly, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Chairman and CEO of Sekhukhune United for believing in my talent,' he wrote in the letter shared by his agency, P Management. Their unwavering support and the leadership opportunities they provided were pivotal in shaping not only my confidence as a player but also as a person. The lessons I've learned will stay with me forever. I would also like to thank the Chairman of Kaizer Chiefs and the entire management for entrusting me with the honor of wearing the armband. Leading one of the biggest and most prestigious teams on the continent is something I will always cherish and be proud of. To all the coaches who have guided me throughout my journey, I am beyond grateful. The knowledge and wisdom you've shared have helped me grow in ways that go beyond the game itself. Your influence has shaped me into the player I am today. To my teammates, thank you for your support and the unforgettable moments we've shared on and off the field. But most importantly, I want to thank the Amakhosi faithful – the fans. Your unwavering belief in us through both the triumphs and the challenges has been a constant source of motivation. Kaizer Chiefs news: New striker to be sacrificed?

Kaizer Chiefs could look to sacrifice striker Tashreeq Morris after just seven months at the club. The 31-year-old forward has struggled to find his feet at Naturena, having signed from SuperSport in January. Morris only scored once for Chiefs in the nine matches he played for the club last season. According to Soccer Laduma , Kaizer Chiefs are set to make changes to the attacking department, with indications that Tashreeq Morris could be sacrificed. 'The technical team wants to have strikers with wingers believed to be playing a part in the attack. In their restructuring of the squad, they are believed to be looking at releasing one or two strikers, with Tashreeq Morris' name being bandied about. We will see after the pre-season for the final decision on which strikers will be sacrificed,' a source revealed to Siya crew. 'As much as the team is believed to be looking at releasing strikers, they are still looking at signing at least one more attacking midfielder. They are talking about a winger or another number 10. I think that could be last signing for this window,' the source added. So far, seven players have left Kaizer Chiefs in the last seven weeks. Club captain Yusuf Maart has left Amakhosi to join newly-promoted Austrian Football Bundesliga outfit, SV Ried. The 29-year-old joined Chiefs from Sekhukhune United in July 2022, making his debut away to Royal AM the following month, and featured in 95 matches in the Gold & Black in all competitions, scoring seven times, including the winning goal in last season's Nedbank Cup Final.
